  • is the tank functional? if so how did you plumb it into the original tank? i hate having the 2.4 gallon with reserve

  • @702paintballer702

If you look closer you'll see there is no gas cap because the tank is not functional. It now houses the electrics that used to be mounted on the sides in those little chrome pods. Original tank is still being used

  • awesome bike man, i have a stock 1996, not nearly as cool

  • wish so bad you had painted it red or blue... silver looks so bland

  • cool build :o) *thumbz-up*

  • hahhaha just bought an '87. Nice job on that bike!

  • did you have to cut the frame at all?

  • @MrNgddgn Just the rear upper section of the frame just behind the rear seat you see. Fender is mounted to the swing arm.

  • looks really nice!

  • Sweet! I love what you've done with her. It has that vintage 30's - 40's look and feel ( Indian style) with newer technology. And the hand made parts just add a touch of artistic freedom to the look. I think it has turned out great! A+A+A+ You should make a video of it running so we can hear it run and see it look, if you know hat I mean. Great job!

  • @mikeshotrodshop Thanks very much, it was fun to build

  • drop the music and start the bike!

  • my grandad has a 750 i belive and its got a cilinder runing lean please give any advide available on how to get that fixed asap

  • just modifs&custom forum

  • i like it ... its got the tank under the seat ...does that mean it needs a fuel pump now?

  • @Dezerado the 535 already has a fuel pump , has the main tank and a 3/4 tank under the seat already stock, working on the carbs of one right now with 8400 miles on it.

  • Those fenders are fuckin' WHACK. Also, the final paint job looks no different than the primer. I guess if you like it that's all that matters...

Why the hell didn't you strip and polish all the aluminum? All that trouble and you didn't even polish anything.

  • @fatbastard540

    oh well

  • @fatbastard540 If you like different style fenders, exotic looking paint, and motor parts polished, build your own bike and make it that way you fucking hater

  • @fatbastard540 im sorry but your a fuckin hater. do you even have a bike and further more can you even customize it yourself...? like i said, HATER!

  • Now that is sweet! I wouldn't mind doing my '82 XV920 like that. :)) I had a 535 for a little while, but the engine wasn't in terribly good shape, so I sold it last fall. The 920 is a much better machine overall.

  • it is not my kind of style but very good job done keep on choppin

  • Good work!

  • very, very beautifull bike, unique, good job brother.I got 96 Virago 535 from the friend who picked it up at bulk trash pick up day.

No title, all the cables cut, missing tank, seat, handlebar and lots of stuf.

I took it apart and i checked the engine started it up it runs good,so I hope one day it`ll look like your bike.

Once again, great job ,love the bike

  • u got some talent and some skills mate, awsome really.

  • very futuristic : ]

  • Love the Front and rear fender's. It's a great job all round. 5*

  • nice bike bro, coming from a nightster rider

  • big work, good work ! how many hours take that?

  • Hard to say, never kept track. I did the bike over a winter, so say 6 months part time..

Glad you guys like it, it was fun to build on the cheap.

  • im a novice i never had a bike and i would like to buy as a first bike a virago 535. some guy told me virago its not such a good bike but i want to hear more opinions about it. how do you guys find it? do you thinks it is a good reliable bike? is it good as a first bike? do you think at a better option for a starter? im only intrested in choppers btw. thanks and im waiting for your replys!!!

  • I've owned an '82 XV920 and an (83?) XV750 fixer-upper I rode for a few years. Both bikes had over 30K miles when I bought them. At the time, I rode/commuted daily, and I also took several 500+ mile trips on both bikes. The older models (pre 1989) had a starter defect. This caused a nasty grinding noise, but even with the defect, the starter still worked. IMHO, the Virago is a great bike, and the 535 would make a fine beginner bike.

  • Like anything, if it's maintaned properly it lasts. It's old technoligy compared to the 'plug n play' bikes of today thou.

  • @floodinquier minha primeira moto foi uma virago 250, nunca me deixou na estrada e nem me incomodou, só pegar e andar, escolha bem, dúvide de quilometragem baixa, e se conhecer o antigo dono é melhor. valeu

  • Not exactly my cup of joe as far as the styling goes, but the craftsmanship is second to none.

Great job and keep the rubber down!

  • Exactly right, imorris, it's not for everyone. Some like deco styling some don't. Thank you for your fair feedback thou.

  • hey wat kind of handle bars are?

  • The bars are old style british bars but have since been changed to clubman bars turned upside down not shown in this vid.

  • This is awesome. I ran into this video looking up info for that bike since I am about to buy it. I would love to be able to modify my bike in such maner, but I know it would take me probably my whole life time.

  • Awesome metal working skill's!! And great vision as well. The classic Indian Chiefs are my favorite as far as styling is concerned, and I own a 1994 XV535, so you can imagine how inspiring this video is for me!

You should do a tutorial video on the fender fabrication!! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Amazing. Great lines and personality. I've got problems with the paint. Please take it as constructive criticism, the paint is a let down.

    Kudos

  • ty for the compliment and yes the color doesn't realy come across in the pics but in real it realy looks nice. As most bike pics, the real thing is always nicer. Color is personal choice, not for everyone, as is styling. No critisism takin . Thanks for your time.

  • beautiful bike, just looks like an indian

  • nice job man, thats a slick lookin bike!

  • Nope, it's still there just like factory. Just opened up the pipes

  • man you did a real nice job that looks as nice as any of the choppers i see hear in daytona bch

  • great job my friend.

  • the paint on my engine-block and flippers kinda started to corode.

I want to re-paint the engine....any ideea what paint to use? how mmuch degreese does it have to handle?

  • hi im in searh of how to modify my xv 535 rear to putt on a wide tire any one have any idea

  • The stocker is fairly tight right now to the swing arm. no room left, besides the shaft drive realy complicates things.would cost too much for a conversion like that

  • buy an xv1000 i put a bigger back tire on with no mods

  • NICE JOB M8!

  • I built a custom out of an 82' XV750, but after seeing the job you did on yours, I may as well throw mine in the garbage. Great job on the tank and fenders!

  • great work i like it!, but the gas tank is a triumph tank? do you modified it a lot?

  • yes it was cut up and modified

  • great work but .. man ,why no passenger??

  • Well she's 5 ft tall and passengers aren't realy her thing anyway. Glad you like the bike. She sure does it.

  • respect, theres nothing to remember at the virago :o)

  • u need to get some twon tone paint on that with the big ass fenders, it;d b easy

  • nice work!
