I HAVE A ROLAND JUNO DI AND AKAI PROFESSIONAL XR 20. IM USING PROTOOLS LE 8 WITH AVID M BOX MINI. MY M BOX DOES NOT HAVE MIDI INPUTS SO I HAVE MIDI TO USB STRAIGHT TO MY MAC. THE PROBLEM IS, HOW CAN I USE THE INSTRUMENTS INSIDE MY PIANO AND AKAI. AND WHAT TRACKS DO I USE TO RECORD THEM?

im using Pro Tools 8 LE and i cant get any sound out of it, i have my headphones pluged into my MBOX 2 but theres no sound, any suggestions or help ??

i had the same problem. make your input thing 1-2 and u shud be good

@flaminstar Go to your system preferences, go to sound and change your input and outout to the mbox. oh and make sure the track is armed! lol

I figured it out, cool that you responded, but I just couldn't figure out how to record in cycle mode with out recording over what was recorded the last time it looped over the region or section.

ended up being one little button on the transport lol.

Arrgghhh , midi has always been bad in PT. I am on 7.4 HD

but am upgrading to 8 and knocking Logic 8 on the head.

I am now happy with how tight the midi spec is.

Is really pro tools mpowered 8 that inexpensive, the price for students is just $149, or the academic version is more limited.

ok maybe this is a dumb question, and it probably is... all the digidesign vids assume you have already hooked up your keyboard... but i don't know exactly how to do that or how to get the input to show up in pro tools. i have a midi to usb cord, and have it hooked up, but that is as far as i have gotten. anyone have any suggestions for the next step?!

i'm using a usb keyboard with protools8 for PC and it automatically recognized it. Go to the options window for MIDI input devices if it is not working automatically and choose "USB midi device" as the default device.

been using protools in 2 yrs and this midi prodution is a great addition but this was available in nuendo 5 years ago!theres nothing new about it.

this is just protools fixing its one significant weakness. the argument that it is being fixed so late doesn't make sense because now it is fixed. that's yesterday's argument.
