Being a river and creek rat, even at 6 feet, I use the shorter 220cm paddle simply because it doesn't bang the shoreline or brush as easily as a longer paddle. Too, my paddle stroke is more vertical- thanks to decades of canoe paddling I'm used to vertical. The canoeist method of measuring paddle from floor to armpit was my basic guide in choosing length. It ended up that the length of my kayak paddle, minus one blade, is the same length as my full canoe paddle.
I'm 6"2' and use 188cm paddles??? But I'm not a tourer; PLAYBOATER.
This vid is good for the beginner paddler who just wants to go ==> but you need to add some info for other types of paddling like whitewater and freestyle!!! Racing kayaking could be an addition for a later video :)
I'm up the creek without a paddle!

Nice vid, though. Thanks.
