Read a few articles. It's no mystery. He was at odds with MSNBC management, openly funded with his boss and the upper management for a long time. MSNBC execs are on record expressing unhappiness with Olbermann, suspended once for his campaign contributions against MSNBC and common journalistic ethics. The MSNBC work vibe around KO was toxic, tense and hostile. MSNBC fired him, bought out his contract. This isn't the 1st time he was fired. He left ESPN under similar circumstances.

I liked Jesse. Served one term as promised. Then he became a 9/11 conspiracy nut, credibility is shot. The segment was with lap-dog Bernie Goldberg, woof - 'yes Bill all other networks suck, are liberal and you're great'. In the case of MSNBC they're right, but Fox has no room to talk, unless they own their right wingness, not that lame "fair & balanced". Fox is much more "fair and balanced" (to what degree?) than msnbc. They have Dems such as Sharpton, Lamont Hill, Colmes, Trippi, Kucinich, Weiner, Beckel, Williams,Estrich, Schoen, Chadderon, etc on to issue their view points. Good! Way before Comcast, Olbermann was at war with management, MSNBC, NBC brass, Tom Brokaw; even liberals like Jon Stewart called him out. Apparently his exit was coming for months. Even thought he's king of MSNBC (big fish small pond) his ratings topped out, going no where. Bill-O mellowed last two yrs with just occasional Tourette's Syndrome.
