I miss Dallas! I lived there when I was 17 in 2007, with a nice host family in a school exchange program. I miss the Cowboy's (weird sport xD) and FC Dallas, the downtown, the high school the accent and country music even the advertising of perfection and hapiness on TV (like this one). But I don't miss, FoxNews (the fav channel in my host home) and tornados (Whow can you people live with that?! It's scary!). But what I miss more is the people I knew there... some are still my friends!
@dsindc You haven't been in Dallas lately. This video is 3 years old.
lol ! I moved here last year, and in 10 months, I've seen 2 new train stations be built, a museum, a new freeway (which will have a suspension-type bridge; not completed yet, a few large upscale apartment buildings, renovation of the Woodall Rodgers freeway, and there is currently about 3 high-rise structures being built simultaneously (don't know what they;re gonna be. Dallas IS very suburban., but it's growing FAST !
I live in Dallas. It seems great if you explore the entire city. I have visited great place in Dallas like The Dalllas Museum of Nature and Science and Dallas Aqaurium. Dallas does have beautiful skylines and freeways, especially the new ones. The Dart trains and buses are beautiful, too. Dart trains are my fav form of transportation. Luv Dallas!
That's right Dallas has seen the biggest reduction in crime from the last 40 years. And why is that? I stood in Dallas and I said, now you criminals better listen to me and get the @#$% out of here and don't make me come back.
Dallas is still very cool, and our leaders are committed to extending that vibe throughout the city as we reclaim neglected areas, refresh what works, and reinvent what doesn't.
@MadameBeautiful Houston is not better. I traveled there for the 1st time a month ago. Their downtown and skyline is about the same as Dallas'. It's hard to explain, but driving through the middle of the city felt like we were on a giant circuit board. Kinda lifeless, although clean. The population is double that of Dallas, but so Houston's county (Harris) is the size of the Dallas/FortWorth Metroplex. The Metroplex is almost at 7million. And Houston's over-all area is a little bit poorer.
The West End is reinventing itself into more of a residential community, but there is still plenty to do and see. Drop by the aquarium for world-class entertainment, or enjoy restaurants such as House of Blues in nearby Victory. Whatever your fancy, there is still great fun to be had in the West End and surrounding areas.
You'll be mighty proud! Though some parts of Dallas aren't the best, due to the high level of crime...it's an absolutly EXCITING place to live. And seeing the skyline at night is just breathtaking...wonderful. You won't be disappointed in moving here.
Dallas has a long way to go towards helping our homeless population, but we are making progress. There are dedicated people who are working to build a new homeless assistance center, and many more who provide meals and other services. It probably isn't fair to paint the entire city which such a broad brush when so much has been done and is being done. We can agree that the needs are great, which is why everyone who cares about this issue is welcome to help with solutions.
What a great video! Great presenting! Thank-you very much for sharing that. I feel my views are similar to yours when it comes to this kind of stuff. Feel free to drop by and post a comment on my YouTube as well I am new here and could use a little help!
@jel2003 All cities as big as Dallas, tend to have some sort of homeless population. And there are a lot of programs in Dallas to help them out.

@MadameBeautiful cont...
The one thing you might like (which is what 'I' liked) is that there are palm trees EVERYWHERE in Houston.
It's reminiscent of California, or possibly Florida (never been to Florida).
If you like palm trees, you'll like Houston.
If you like somewhat better living conditions, less crime, and a job... Dallas is better. :))

I still miss West End Marketplace. That place was da BOMB!
But that Mandarin Hotel has been put on hold.
