On Feb.4th, the Hawks had 22,169 fans for a game against the Coyotes. I live in Chicago, and I can say that the Hawks are not only the best team in town, they are the ONLY team in town!

From the american anthem to the final horn, its something that can only be explained in person. Its when sound has feel! Their biggest rival is the Detroit Red Wings! I know Chicago is a sports town and I'm sure they like hockey up there, look at what the game at Wrigley Field did. I can't beleive the video they mentioned that the Blackhawks did not televise their home games. So, anyway what is the fan base like for the Blackhawks? what is a Blackhawks gamel ike? who is their biggest rivals? they areone of the "original six". I mean now they got Patrick Kane. I'm sure it was better to see a game at Chicago Stadium.

The Blackhawks fans are crazy about their team. Bill Wirtz, recently deceased, made every mistake possible to alienate his fan base, including making it very difficult to watch a Hawks game on TV. He hung on to Bob Pulford as a GM far too long. If you go to Wikipedia and read their history, you'll understand why he was booed by the fans in attendance at his moment of silence tribute before the home opener.

I am DIE-HARD Blackhawks Fan, and I have to say, of course, we want to see them win, but with wins, always comes bandwagon jumpers. Now, the Hawks currently have a Student Discount where you bring your Student ID you get a $15 ticket for $8. However, with their popularity rising and more bandwagon fans going, it seems as if that will soon be gone. That was what got me to the games, which I went to 17 total games this year, 1 on the road in Anaheim! Bandwagon Jumpers, STAY AWAY FROM THE U.C!!!!!!

That was great. I am a fan of the Blackhawks and I can say that we have a very great future in Chicago. We have a very good team, and they have the ability to win and become as popular as they once were. Also, when I heard that they will televise all 82 games this coming season, I was very excited and that was the greatest news I had heard in a while. Hopefully with winning, and televising the games, the Blackhawks will become as popular as they once were.

Dan Kelly, Jr., and Ed Olczyk are average on their best nights. Kelly is riding the coattails of his late, great father, and it's still unclear how Olczyk, who has trouble saying his own name, found his way into the booth. Foley + Messmer = a marketing coup waiting to reappear.

A local sports reporter was a guest of the AHL's Chicago Wolves Saturday night (11/17/07). When the announcers were talking about the on and off ice changes the Blackhawks had made, including negotiating a deal with Comcast Sports Net to televise home games here in the Chicago market, the sports reporter said, "Rocky's done more in a month than what Wirtz did in 20 years." Let's hope that continues.

Here's proof of Chicago's "apathy" towards the Hawks...if a network in Canada can do a piece like this, but local media don't...that tells me there isn't as much interest in hockey as there ought to be in Chicago. The Blackhawks' management of Bill Wirtz is to blame for that. Now with Rocky Wirtz in charge, things are changing for the better.

Very nice piece. It pretty much told the story. The Blackhawks need to not only win to draw fans back, but they also have to market and expose their product to the populace. Bill Wirtz's "no home games on TV" policy cost the Hawks a generation of fans, and it's going to take a lot to bring fans back. Hopefully with Toews and Kane, they're on the road to doing just that.
