Since I never heard the original, I always thought he said "to put up a fuckin love" instead of "put up a parkin lot" I don't really mean that in a bad way, just sayin.
Originally the song was a hidden track on the band's 2002 album Hard Candy and did not include Vanessa Carlton until it was to be featured in the movie. New releases of the album included it as a track with her added, as with her in the video, although Counting Crows and Vanessa Carlton did not appear in the video together nor record together.
the joni mitchell one was crap. wait, wrong words. not trying to say that joni mitchells version was crap but, counting crows did exactly what mozart did to twinkle twinkle little star: they made it better in their own way.
I know what you guys mean. When I was a kid growing up in goshen indiana I lived on this road called county road 28. Me and my friends would spend entire days just walking and exploring the forests and fields around my house. Now most of the fields and forests are gone because of 2 reasons. One they built and new housing edtion and still building on it and plus they built a new bypass area that actually is right next to the house.
GREAT SONG but its title remains STUPID.Its PARKING LOT to us millions of fans. Now Nathan or whoever PLEASE stop emailing me. Im entitled to my opinon like it or not. I LOVE AMERICA. TOMK
DDT was killing our birds, humans and destroying our crops! Joni rocks for writing this song, like London Bridge is fallen down... listen to the sounds beyond the sounds :)
If there was no message.. there would be no music! Joni Mitchell wrote this song and performed it originally and it was very controversial. During the 60's and early music was a major way to express political thoughts
Agreed. The original song had the most meaning during the time period it was written in. And while the environment's still being squandered and people still do the same short-sighted crap with their relationships as they do with nature, this just seems to be a cover done to cash in on the whole duet craze of 2003.
always thought it said "big paradise 'n' put up a parking lot" now that i know what he was trying to say it makes more sense, i hate it when they mumble words and make it sound totally different
Im probably THE DUMBEST person on earth ive listened to this song a couple of times at random stores during the course of my life.I thought it was by John Mayer -.-
