And it is really interesting for me, because I live in a country where vlogging is something really unussual (I mean someone of my nationality MAKING a vlog, not following some here on YT.. although even that is not really common..)

I work as a freelance designer, and I see a lot of companies wanting bids for making youtube videos, the thing is, what are we loosing out of it and things like that? Do we even know?
Will, we have all gotten a lot from YouTube... Friends being the most important one. <3 And we owe it to our friends and our community to be open minded and mature.
But, I disagree with one thing you said. I believe you have given back to YouTube; Your videos are content; content YOU made; content that you contributed to YouTube... Those videos are watched right? Hell yea they are watched

@MindFilterExperience i'm not sure you understand or get youtube. there is very much a community here. i see it and interact in it every day. commenting is the base of the community, without that this is just a dumping ground for video.
@nobleheight compeititvness is what is making the site better, back in 06 when there was none there were lots of awful ppl on the top 100 and bad videos all around the site. compitiion has made ppl step it up and make really aesome videos. and there is still plenty of collaboration on the site. both can exist in this community
Youtube is a business. They sell advertising. The content makers who generate views for youtube are nothing more than facilitators. Youtube will listen to their facilitators only in so far as their advice will generate more views. Being good or bad community members have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not youtube will take your advice. This is not elementary school. You don't get rewarded for good behavior. In the cold world of business, money talks and bull excrement walks.
@nobleheight like i said in the vid i understand the business aspect of money talks and youtube will do what the money does. aka the site wanting to be more family friendly for the advertisers. but as a community if we cuss out youtube and be whiny babies they will ignore us and treat us as children if we act like adults they will treat us that way.

I watched a few of the videos and one thing I thought youtube could change/do better is feature a wider range of people. It seems that the featured videos are from news channels or from the top youtubers (which is understandable since youtube is a business, but give other people a chance)
Yea after i saw that video, It got me thinking that, is this really what's going on on youtube, they've been hiding the things us as users need to know for their own exploitive purposes, if they need money, they could do it in a way that could be agreeable by the video creators and viewers because without us watching, subscribing, favoriting, we wouldn't be the great community we are. do you know the whole story tho. or just what chicity said. remember the truth is not found in one voice but in many. i think the only ppl who know the truth between shane and david ARE shane david and god. and no matter what shane and david say or wht their side of the story is, only GOD knows the real truth. i know i don't know the truth and never will.

all i know is, dave gave shane a chance to be in one of his videos back in the day and when dave's account went away he asked shane for a chance to be in one of his videos and shane said no and but he did say he would give him a shout out on twitter.....TWITTER!!!...doesnt seem right. When a friend helps u out, u help them back when they need it. most of that money dave gets from youtube goes towards his family (may not be alot, but still). dont need to many voices to tell me whats wrong here.
i think the best line you had was "all i know is" cause from that perception of the situation it obvi has 1 person looking good and another bad. maybe shane views it differently and has a different perception. i chose not to get involved in a dispute between two ppl. chicity decided to and so have you and that's perfectly fine and your right. just recognize that only god knows the truth.

Getting YouTube to listen to the users ideas, needs and concerns is a a very tough row to hoe. The "Community Council" died on the vine because YT ignored them, was kind of a joke really. The YourTubeAdvocate channel is dead now after many good, committed and motivated users tried to make a difference there. Nobody at yt listened. No amount of pissing and moaning from the users has ever made a damn bit of difference to yt. The bottom line is all that matters to them, period..
i agree the moaning and pissing has been ignored but i wonder what would happen if we came at them constructively and positivly and wanting to work with them and not against them. cause that approach has never been tried before.
With all due respect, I think your knowledge of YouTube history is somewhat lacking. Have you ever even heard of the yt Community Council? It was initiated by yt corporate ostensibly as a sounding board for the community to have a voice with the people inside the company. It failed because it became obvious to everyone that yt had no real commitment to listening to the community in any way. You may want to watch this and some of the associated videos to get an idea of what I am talking about,
Also, did you know that there used to be a position at yt corporate called "Community Manager". That job no longer exists at yt, mainly because the powers that be felt it wasn't really important in running the business. It was at one time held by a guy named Damien Estreich who at one time ran a channel similar to yours called YourTubeNEWS.
I guess my point is that what you are describing in the community getting together to influence the company has been tried before, several times and

trust me i'm not banking on anything. not with the amount of subs and views i have.
and i believe in subs just as much as views and i cover youtube when drama happens i have to cover it. do you want to be blind to real life. if so then don't watch.
i never said youtube would die. i don't think it will.
ps ur ideas aren't going to cure cancer. don't have such a big head. youtube is ment to be fun and if you join. be a productive member of the community.

I am sorry realy and hurt bt this comment but i really believe that there is different communitys of youtube...I love youtube...to express ones self is freakin awesome..really i am new to this but i recognize one who is favored over another. Its not right but its youtube. the more views the better for youtube..and yes it is a shame that i cannot share the same opinion as you...i wish i could.. i see your heart its in the right place !

i memorised this in science lesson: a community is several populations living in the same habitat. HAHAHAHA XD,so we can be a youtube community, we are lts of ppl from different countries obsessed with a website.

YOUTUBE IS not a community it's a website ok it is a site where people go to tfor information or a bit of entertaiment ...a comunity is a city or a street ...youtube is a website saying youtube is a comunity is like saying google is a comunity it just aint

This just further supports the argument I made in my video that we need to have either one person or a panel who is designated as liason between the users and YouTube itself.

I watched a few of the videos and one thing I thought youtube could change/do better is feature a wider range of people. It seems that the featured videos are from news channels or from the top youtubers (which is understandable since youtube is a business, but give other people a chance)

Yea after i saw that video, It got me thinking that, is this really what's going on on youtube, they've been hiding the things us as users need to know for their own exploitive purposes, if they need money, they could do it in a way that could be agreeable by the video creators and viewers because without us watching, subscribing, favoriting, we wouldn't be the great community we are. It's time for google and youtube to treat us better then the tv channels treat their so called audiences

and ppl need to stfu about the parners. they're like OMG OMG PARTNERS GET ALL THE FAME!! do you realize that to become a partner you need subs which means you need to be funny. so if your not getting subs you definitely aren't funny. and have you forgot about little no names like DaPhamily who was good enough to get recommended and now is partnered? Bottom line you need to be funny to get your vids watched. If your not funny your vids aren't gonna be watched

i think we should stop worrying about stupid little inconveniences on youtube. its stupid that people are whining about the littlest things in my opinion. Have people forgot that in China people cant even use the internet let alone youtube? (idk if they passed this law yet but i know they were thinkin bout it) I think everyone needs to put this in perspective. and youtube isnt dying. willofdc proves this every week by showing us how many people are subscribing to channels

if youtube actually cared about what us little people think all these unnecessary changes wouldn't have happened making all my videos that i watch freaking slow and every one would get there chance at being in the lime light who has a video, instead of the partners , but i agree with the community thing cause im sick of these loser's who insult other people who they don't even know about beside what they put in there video, cause i guarantee they wouldn't do it to the person's face

well because of chi's video im now unsubbing from shane dawson for being so uncool to david spates who fell in a rough patch. and shane woulnt help david out. now im not saying shane sucks im just saying he miss treated one of the coolest guys on youtube and thats not cool. i just thought id throw out how i felt after watching the video. keep up the good wrk will :D

do you know the whole story tho. or just what chicity said. remember the truth is not found in one voice but in many. i think the only ppl who know the truth between shane and david ARE shane david and god. and no matter what shane and david say or wht their side of the story is, only GOD knows the real truth. i know i don't know the truth and never will.

all i know is, dave gave shane a chance to be in one of his videos back in the day and when dave's account went away he asked shane for a chance to be in one of his videos and shane said no and but he did say he would give him a shout out on twitter.....TWITTER!!!...doesnt seem right. When a friend helps u out, u help them back when they need it. most of that money dave gets from youtube goes towards his family (may not be alot, but still). dont need to many voices to tell me whats wrong here.

i think the best line you had was "all i know is" cause from that perception of the situation it obvi has 1 person looking good and another bad. maybe shane views it differently and has a different perception. i chose not to get involved in a dispute between two ppl. chicity decided to and so have you and that's perfectly fine and your right. just recognize that only god knows the truth.

i agree that i do not know both sides of the story, now im still subbed to shane dawsontv2 because that is his vlog channel and i feel like it would be good for him to bring it up in a video explaining his side to the story (if there is one). if he does not it kind of gives me the hint that he was being a uncool friend to dave. i will try to email him or something (doubt it will wrk, but ill try). and btw chi-city is not only one man, he is "THE MAN" lol id trust him b4 shane anyday

Getting YouTube to listen to the users ideas, needs and concerns is a a very tough row to hoe. The "Community Council" died on the vine because YT ignored them, was kind of a joke really. The YourTubeAdvocate channel is dead now after many good, committed and motivated users tried to make a difference there. Nobody at yt listened. No amount of pissing and moaning from the users has ever made a damn bit of difference to yt. The bottom line is all that matters to them, period..

With all due respect, I think your knowledge of YouTube history is somewhat lacking. Have you ever even heard of the yt Community Council? It was initiated by yt corporate ostensibly as a sounding board for the community to have a voice with the people inside the company. It failed because it became obvious to everyone that yt had no real commitment to listening to the community in any way. You may want to watch this and some of the associated videos to get an idea of what I am talking about,

Also, did you know that there used to be a position at yt corporate called "Community Manager". That job no longer exists at yt, mainly because the powers that be felt it wasn't really important in running the business. It was at one time held by a guy named Damien Estreich who at one time ran a channel similar to yours called YourTubeNEWS.
I guess my point is that what you are describing in the community getting together to influence the company has been tried before, several times and

with all due respect u joined youtube in december 07 and my original account was started april 06. i lived the history you talk about. back in the day google didn't think it needed a community dept. and now its obvi they do but all anyone does is whine and cry. i want to try a difference approach. its not wasting my time. it is a good use of my time.
