I don't mean to compare the Beatles with Nirvana, but when Nirvana showed up, they made everybody else look and sound a bit silly. I think the Beatles hade the same effect in their days. Suddenly you had to be able to play your own instruments, write and sing your own songs, to keep up with these guys. But nothing could ever come close to their talent.
@Sophie3104 You really would have to be born in the 50's to be old enough to enjoy the music of the 60's. I was born in 53 and enjoyed a lot of music of the 60's but when the Beatles showed up, it changed music forever. Then you had everybody and his brother trying to form a "group" of which I was embarrassed for a lot of them because even people that had NO talent were trying to play and sing and grow there hair long.
Who could dislike THIS? Hey you dislikers, you apparently are grumpy individuals who don't like The Beatles in the first place (YOUR problem) and just want to impose your gloom on those of us who do. You don't like it? Then stay off music posts like this and keep to whatever crap it is you think passes as music.. Well done The Know Buddies!
@jackalbill Amen and Amen!! The "dislikers" remind me of the two old muppets up in the balcony who constantly trash everything, good or bad, because, well.... they love to trash! If you don't think this clip is good, get the hell off of You Tube, period!
What was all the fuss about when Paul was saying Capital or LP when John seemed to say "you can't say that!" "of course you can" . sorry I was born in the 90's, so I'm not following...
@misspurity91 I think that John was correcting Paul because Paul says the an LP is English for Album and that an Album and an LP are the same thing. Paul is not absolutely correct because the Beatles had recently released an EP (Extended Play 45) entitled "All My Lovin'" which contained a "collection" of four songs. EPs were often sold in Box Sets which were also called Albums before the 33-1/3 rpm "Long Playing" Albums were introduced.
They must have had a previous arguments on the distinctions
No monitors back then. . and poor quality sound systems that were low powered with tube circuits which added warmth. . but low in wattage. Nothing like the sound systems that came later on such as the early Voice of the Theater systems that were used at Woodstock with single directional mics which for the first time controlled bleed on stage. Very primitive and yet they pulled it off. They did a lot of rehearsal time for these shows with people in the seats checking the balance.
Just got back from Liverpool where we took tours of John and Paul's homes. On the wall at Paul's house are pics of John and Paul writing songs. . .both with guitars facing each other and a note pad on the floor with words scribbled in and out. The curator said that Paul would very often ask his fathers opinion as to whether his father liked what they were writing. For the first time, thanks to the pics taken by Michael McCartney, I got a sense as to how they wrote.
i'm constantly amazed by how well ringo controls the sound of his drums and the effectivness and sophisication of his parts.people say he dos'nt have the chops.i say flashy chops are for people who can't play musically. in this sense ringo is the biggest showoff drummer of all-time!!!!!
this is just the best rehersed band of all time....look at goerge move betwene the mikes....listen to the sound of ringos drums, the tempo is metronomic,
[ even neil peart speeds up a little during a song}listen to how they blend everything {no monitors!!!!} by just working the mikes.look at how perfect the arrangements are {sophisticated and playable, simple and super-effective}. these guys would mop the floor with any band earth today. THEY SHOULD GIVE LESSONS ON HOW TO BE A BAND.
You are right they did not have monitors which makes them even better!
good to watch, though if you are referring to chronological order as you said, then You Can't do That should be between Parts 2 & 3, maybe instead of another Twist & shout there could have been can't buy me love or I saw her standing there.
Very much enjoyed video though, that was just me being pedantic with my pointers!
im sure this LP not happen time in order...because if you see the Deauville concert at the first of this video,John used his Rick 325C64,which is the age of C64 younger than 325C58 that he used at the "Twist and Shout" and "Please Please Me" concert at Ed Sullivan Show in the ending of this video..cheers
Between songs Paul always over details the songs about what LP they are on and so on.. it was a true buisnessmen even back then.. when i see him concert last week he wasnt as detailed as before, but did provide enough between song banter.
Sigh, I love when George and Paul sing harmony* during the chorus of "All My Loving". I wish the album version of the song had employed that, rather than doubletracking Paul's voice, but I'm an obviously biased George girl. ;)
* It's another reason to love their live performances -- the ones that were quality and could be heard over the shrieking girls, at any rate.
@TheKnowBuddies: Thanks so much for the time you put into this EXCELLENT compilation! And you're right about the "lack of" monitors; it's simply amazing how tight their vocal harmonies were!
I whis i was born in that time :´)

Watch the opening line closely: John starts to sing, "This boy." He and Paul can't help snickering at the mistake.
It's a funny nuance - but not a distraction - from the greatest performers rock 'n roll ever saw.

John Lennon, in a rare interview from 1979 was asked: “What is your biggest regret?”
John: “Saying to Paul: ‘Shall we let Ringo sing one?’”
