aion has come a long way but its actually a pretty good mmo. PVE content is a lil weak after besh cuz there is nothign after besh but the games strongest point is its pvp system. best pvp mmo that is our so far. 55 cleric i know a lil mroe then this commentator who was biased from the start.
@OdinStyle I think if your paying for a mmo by subscription it's always slightly disappointing (most people don't have the time to get their moneys worth of play time) so I play on the infinite aion servers so its free. They are getting pretty crowded though even the real aion server aren't as crowded.

Funny review and all, but I don't think WoW and Aion are close to being the same thing. They have similarities, because, well, they're both MMO's. BUT, I just quit WoW for Aion recently (like a week ago) and I find the games to be very different.

Fony, I'll be honest, I've played a couple private servers where they removed the shittiest parts of AION (most of which you pointed out in this review) and you should really give a second chance to this game, even tho NCSOFT fails, in the hands of a good developer it becomes amazing.
Still debating between WoW....Aion...or Final Fantasy 14. Haven't played either of them yet except for WoW and Final Fantasy XI. So far this game looks amazing I'm just curious if it's actually fun to play. Are the swimming mechanics still non existent in this game? The shop idea kind of reminds me of Runescape.

Nice review but all your reviews are always so shallow and don't even begin to cover any aspects of the actual game. Very uninformative as well haha. After almost a year, the overall response on Aion forums+fansites has been negative. There have been massive "server merges" due to a severe lack of players, resulting in only 5-6 US servers remaining (one can only imagine what happened to all the people who had similar names).
PvE-wise the game has nothing amazing to offer. In desperation, Aion is resorting to shit like Veteran Rewards rewarding you stuff for every extra month you add to your game time.
@Texarmageddon I'm aware of that. The point is, US/EU servers were practically ghost towns because Aion is a Korean-style MMO, something which a LOT of US/EU players did not enjoy. Initially the game is a blast, but Aion shows it's true colors before too long.
Aion is already a smash hit in Korea (soon be #1, may even overtake Maple Story some day) because it's mainly aimed at the Korean playerbase. Hardcore PvP, super-grindy leveling and endlessly repetetive tasks is something Koreans love.

@d33sert5torm He is commenting on the fact that there is no variation between the different classes whereas most games have several races with their own starting zones and character mechanics. It is a general comment on replay value as a whole, now if you think repeating things over again using the same character is still fun that is your business but it is generally agreed upon that it isn't.

I've played this game for 7 months now in North American servers.
It was good at first but the free server transfers recently messed it all up.
Now ALL NA servers are imbalanced.
I'm not talking about 50-55% imbalance, I'm talking about GREAT imbalance.
The servers are either 80-90% elyos populated or 80-90% Asmos pupulated. Ask any Aion players, or better yet, look up the Aion forums. You'd see how many are disappointed about the great population imbalance.
@27johnrick That's like 5% of the total problems that exist with Aion. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous flying restrictions, super-repetitive quests and INSANE class imbalance that's been going on. The developers really don't give a shit, the profit has already been made (but I guess that's just how NC Soft does business).

Still debating between WoW....Aion...or Final Fantasy 14. Haven't played either of them yet except for WoW and Final Fantasy XI. So far this game looks amazing I'm just curious if it's actually fun to play. Are the swimming mechanics still non existent in this game? The shop idea kind of reminds me of Runescape.

Nice review but all your reviews are always so shallow and don't even begin to cover any aspects of the actual game. Very uninformative as well haha. Aion isn't the greatest mmo in the world but we don't need ten minutes of a wow fan boi talking I guess it's perfect for the mmo community brainless not enough instant gratification

After almost a year, the overall response on Aion forums+fansites has been negative. There have been massive "server merges" due to a severe lack of players, resulting in only 5-6 US servers remaining (one can only imagine what happened to all the people who had similar names).
PvE-wise the game has nothing amazing to offer. In desperation, Aion is resorting to shit like Veteran Rewards rewarding you stuff for every extra month you add to your game time.
Just enjoy Aion while it lasts.

@Texarmageddon I'm aware of that. The point is, US/EU servers were practically ghost towns because Aion is a Korean-style MMO, something which a LOT of US/EU players did not enjoy. Initially the game is a blast, but Aion shows it's true colors before too long.
Aion is already a smash hit in Korea (soon be #1, may even overtake Maple Story some day) because it's mainly aimed at the Korean playerbase. Hardcore PvP, super-grindy leveling and endlessly repetetive tasks is something Koreans love.

@d33sert5torm He is commenting on the fact that there is no variation between the different classes whereas most games have several races with their own starting zones and character mechanics. It is a general comment on replay value as a whole, now if you think repeating things over again using the same character is still fun that is your business but it is generally agreed upon that it isn't.

I've played this game for 7 months now in North American servers.
It was good at first but the free server transfers recently messed it all up.
Now ALL NA servers are imbalanced.
I'm not talking about 50-55% imbalance, I'm talking about GREAT imbalance.
The servers are either 80-90% elyos populated or 80-90% Asmos pupulated. Ask any Aion players, or better yet, look up the Aion forums. You'd see how many are disappointed about the great population imbalance.

@27johnrick That's like 5% of the total problems that exist with Aion. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous flying restrictions, super-repetitive quests and INSANE class imbalance that's been going on. The developers really don't give a shit, the profit has already been made (but I guess that's just how NC Soft does business).
