I think that not jumping does indeed makes all punches more powerful, but the purpose of the jump with the superman punch might still have some use, perhaps throw the opponent off guard or even get a higher striking angle?
Finally! Someone that knows the purpose of this technique! I see so many retarded fighters throwing it, hoping it will work! Even in boxing, I've seen it tried once or twice. The whole purpose is to make your opponent try to block your "kick", but in boxing they don't have to worry about the kick. Even in UFC, they throw it, but they jump (sometimes they should, sometimes they shouldn't), but most of the times they won't actually "set it up" properly.
@VillaOctavia i agree.i think the superman is way more powerful when ur elevated actually.thats when it can ko sum1 but the 1 in this vid will more than likely not ko anybody
@berglovesyou i guess i take the same risk with tornado kicks. if ive got somebody gaurding im gonna hit them as hard as i can with my leg. either im breaking something or they are gonna flip me
@dbspaceoditty tornado kicks are a bit different cause your positioned different afte a tornado kick, but honestly if someone came out in the first round of a fight at me with a tornado kick id probly fall for it. but overusing it gives away your variation.
@dbspaceoditty You can think that, but when you've got GSP in front of you nailing superman jabs at will, you'll find out quickly that it's a lot easier said than done.

its true that it is faster and less risky to stay on the ground . . . but . . . if u jump when u are doing a superman punch u will get way more power in the punch and be able to knock someone out easily. . .
dude just watch GSP do superman . . . and u cant say that he is doing it wrong cuz he is one of the best P4P fighter in the world (after Anderson Silva) . . .
Regardless of how GSP does it, staying on the ground makes the punch more powerful. It's all about fight mechanics, which you obviously know nothing about.

superman punch is supposed to be powerful. This guy isn't even thinking about power, just set ups for more weak moves.

@jas108 uhh.. since when do you need to jump to throw a powerful punch...?
travisvennable 1 year ago
@jas108 I disagree. Yves Edwards Tko'ed Derrick Noble and Nick Agallar with this technique.
jissquared 9 months ago
@VillaOctavia Don't agree on that. He knocked out Nick Agallar with this and stunned Derrick Noble with it on his way to a tko.

if i saw somebody try that i would just parry his arm and toss him. throwing your weight in front of you is a sure fire way too get tossed

@dbspaceoditty it is but the superman punch ive found works only when their rocked, only the really anxious fighter is gonna come out throwing them.
