  • a song many people would kill for to write it by their selfs! just awesome

  • OSI is a relief for me, DT has become so boring since 1996-97 (oh wait, that's more or less the year that Kev left!)

  • Tool?

  • @lumix1640 Vague resemblance. More like APC, but yeah many prog bands have a similar sound.

  • @Luciffrit That's why I listen to old prog

  • @lumix1640 I mean even old prog has a similar feel to it. Each generation develops a certain sound and it echos through the entire genre. Its not a bad thing most of the time. Some bands I'm convinced just can't keep time so they call themselves prog. hehe.

  • Congratulations, man, awesome job. I really like this band and your video is great. Greetings from Hungary.

  • after 20 years, do people still argue about kevin moore in dt or not? Move on!

  • very good song, the band too i dont know them.

    thank from Chile

  • ok first of all,i love Kevin moore, and os,i like dream theater, But everytime i see an osi vid on you tube, not many mention Jim Matheos.OSi is Moore and Matheos.I have been a fates warning fan since their first album. Ask any fates members past or present.Noone writes songs like Matheos, also remember without Matheos and Fates Prog metal may not exist.Portnoy has even stated the Fates started the Prog Metal genre way before they did. Love moore and Matheos.....ergo love OSI

  • no tread lose your head put it back! truly, insanity personified! yeah! fuck-ups just like me unite!

  • Wherever Jimmy Matheos goes you'll find good tunes, man! Love the band but I liked Jimmy Matheos for over 20 yrs. Big inspiration to me.

  • Guys, good news:

OSI is currently working on their fourth album and Metal Blade debut for a late 2010 release. Also, the have signed with metal blade records. Source, fateswarning . info

    see you,

  • I love in when the keyboard sample kicks in and 'darkens' the song (I am tripping away!!) OSI FOREVER!! this is ART!!

  • I bet this song was playing during the Chernobyl disaster, even if that did happen back in 1986.

  • If you like Kevin Moore, feel free to visit my fan website: The Mooreatorium. Search for it on Google.

  • Sorry for the mistakes in the lyrics : I am French and I don't understand all the lyrics, so I use lyrics website which are... pretty bad, actually. My apologies.

  • @kraok I wouldn't worry about it, english is supposed to be my native language and i don't understand most lyrics from most english bands! It's the musics and vocals that matter, not the content ;)

  • This album got completely ripped when it was released!

  • It's crazy. I know this band for years now and never really found their music special. But somehow I got the hang of things and REALLY like them now.

  • i love the "shoot,dont shoot,dont shoot" part.

  • This band has the same style of Amplifier. Both are great.

  • Make a video for hello helicopter.

  • I haven't got the time to make a lot of videos, I did one for Radiologue but I have exams and a lot of other projects. But as it's asked, my next video may be hello helicopter.

  • @ahigherstate maybe I'll do it... I love doing KevMo videos

  • @ahigherstate You mean "Make a video for 'Hello, Helicopter', PLEASE".

    Fucking dick.

  • this songs pretty sweet, I really respect Kevin Moore and his contribution to DT, he wrote my fave DT song (space dye est) but apparently Mike doesn't like his attitude towards music these days...oh well stilla great musician

  • Kevin Moore is a very good musician, good lyrics, good voice (and nobody else has his voice) and incredible electronic/piano sounds. This man is really getting OSI a place in the best prog metal.

  • @kraok And what about Jim Matheos, he's a genius!!

  • @ironcult666 I was gonna ask if that was Jim Matheos I saw in that :36 frame.

  • @mitchmaggot When/where does Portnoy say this about Moore?

  • Why must everyone compare DT and OSI? They are both very different and ment to be appreciated for what they are.

  • man, kevin changed a lot since his dt time

  • thanks i didn´t knew that :)

  • But DT still exist and they're totally different to this - what the hell?

  • uh, mark... this sounds a lot different than DT...

  • Not in a bad way.

  • mike portnoy its great, he also is in this band, by why nowbody mention him?

  • this is from OSI second album, MP was just called in to play no participation in creating the album...but on new OSI album drummer is Gavin Harrison....personally i like Gavin better, but Mike is also one of my favorites drummers :)))

  • Agreed. Portnoy is incredibly talented, but he can be a little overbearing.

  • True, but I still like what he puts where - after awhile the simple stuff becomes overbearing and boring, maddening really. Portnoy always has a way with keeping it interesting.

xD if i remember right, he had a breakdown in europe somewhere during Falling Into Infinity tour - after that, LTE came out and if you've noticed, he's (they, actually) only ever outdone himself on every album since then - that's just one fan's opinion though.

  • hear it for the first time and it`s really hot

  • wow... i was googling around, progresive music... and i found these guys, i have never heard them before, and they are really good =D. it took me a while to get the flow of the musician, but its the worries are all gone now.

  • awesome!!!!

do 1 for the terror x project

  • Hey, I noticed at the start of the video you call the band "Office of Strategic Influence." Just so you know , that's not the band's name. It's "OSI." The first album was called "Office of Strategic Influence." Kevin Moore has said this in interviews. After "Free" was released, he said his plan was to create different meanings for the abbreviation OSI with each album, but decided against it. Sure, we know OSI stands for "Office of Strategic Influence," but the band's real name is OSI.

  • you need to listen to porcupine tree if you like this dude. basically the same but Porcupine Tree's music is more focused on the ambiance and composition factor rather than the guitar drive, where OSI derives a lot of its power. I absolutely love OSI tho, but i havent heard their second album yet! its killing me.

  • I agree with you, Porcupine Tree is great too. Btw the singer of porcupine tree is in "Shutdown" from OSI, with an awesome voice...

  • good band...firsf time listen today

  • You have some of the lyrics wrong, but other than that, nice effort.

  • My favourite song!

  • Man, OSI is your favorite band....Then there is truly hope for humanity. I thought I was alone.

  • my favorite too!

  • A song doesn't have to be long to be progressive, man.

It just need some odd-time signatures. ;D

  • actually, it just needs to diferent

  • Just cause its not long doesn't mean it isn't progressive. OSI is certainly progressive in the broad experimental meaning of the word like Porcupine tree and Tool are, but not in the more narrow more recently used meaning that implies kinda crazy musicmanship and extreme technicality as well which limits the genre to stuff like Dream Theater and Symphony X.

  • they are my favourite band just now. i never thought i would have a fav band but after years of disillusion of generic metal and rock and electro this is everything. Dream Theater for kids who have grown up!

  • I think exactly like you. I like many types of music, with Slipknot, Rammstein, The Rasmus, or electro sounds (Yuksek, Boys Noize,...) but when I listened for the first time OSI, I knew that will be my favourite band. And it's my favourite band since 2004.

  • I love this but I don't think it has quite the level of Emotion you get in the best Dream Theater, though admittedly DT can suffer from being a little too eager to be crazy for the sake of it, something absent from this so I see what you mean but I still prefer DT, tis much more uplifting and powerful, this is more mellow and downtrodden, but still awesome

  • nice.

OSI and Kevin Moore -- so creative!

Wish we could get a new album...

  • Yes, a new album may come this year or in 2009... So far !

  • wow I had given up hope! excitting I wonder where you got this information ;)

  • It's simple : the first album has been made in 2003, the second in 2006, and the third, maybe this year or in 2009... I hope this winter !

  • It would be great to have Steven Wilson playing and composing again on OSI, don't you think?

  • I dont think Wilson ever was involved in composing on any OSI album.

Actually i personally dont care too much for his voice so i sort of prefer it without him...(you asked)

  • OK, I've asked!

I do love Wilson´s voice and style.

AH, if you don't know, the track called "SHUT DOWN" was composed and sang by Wilson...

For me that is the best track, not because of Wilson. By the time I´ve buyed the CD (2004) I don't knew him, and I´ve gone crazy because of that track.

But this entire CD is a genius artwork. A true piece of heaven.

  • No Wilson contributed vocals for SHUTDOWN but the song was composed by OSI, not Wilson.

  • Sorry, i was wrong you were at least partially correct, Wilson apparently co-wrote the lyrics for shutDOWN and sang it. The music was not composed by him though.

  • Shutdown is an amazing song, certainly the best song ever :) It's progressive, with an awesome voice and incredible riffs of guitar. But the other songs are very good too, like New Math.

  • Oh yes!

    NOW you are right.

    BUT, guy, think on this:

this music on Moore's voice would be just nice, but in Wilson's voice it's awesome...

  • naaa like i said, i prefer Moore's voice.

  • Ah, just for curiosity:

it can be a little odd, but in the first time I heard shutDOWN I feel like a deja vu with Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath.

The version on the album entitled The best of Black Sabbath remembers it a little...

    :)

  • I agree with you, the song is just awesome with Wilson's voice. But if this song is awesome, it's also because it's the only song with Wilson's voice. If many songs were made with him, it would be more ordinary.

  • yeah, it would be "alternative Porcupine" music...

    Moore is THE guy too.

  • Hey I just noticed on the chroma key website under news that OSI is completing a 3rd album!!

this time with Jim on guitar and bass. hmmm wonder what happened with joey ...

  • Thank you for the news ^^ I hope the 3rd album will be in stores before christmas :)

  • And with Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) playing drums on it... That will be sick.

  • where's mike portnoy?
