  • Do you seriously think a Kestrel is going to be able to take wild pigeon? - throwing her a dizzy pigeon is no sport when she's not going to be able to bind to wild ones and if she does go for them you seriously risk damaging her when you aren't able to make in quick enough to help her.

  • owned

  • If you liked birds you wouldn't do that. What you did is the evil.

  • @anjoazul270 shut up

  • @anjoazul270 If you know about birds you wouldn't CARE.

I bet you now, go into the wild and you'll see atleast 1 bird kill.

    nob.

  • You could have thrown a paper bag out of you bag and it would have taken it.That bird was hungry...i would say about half an ounce under weight at least. Ive had kestrels for most of my life and i know what i am saying.

  • What's the problem? Whether he had the bird or not.. It would still be killing other birds. He is training the bird how to hunt properly. This is what the pidgeon is used for.

  • Who thinks Kestrels kill pigeons in the wild? They don't. So those who think this is a public service ridding the cities of pigeons are crazy.

  • i find it a bit schizophrenic, or at very least bizarrely inconsistent to apparently love birds enough to keep one, yet brutally kill another. at least give it a sporting chance.

  • guys, falconry isnt about hunting to eat food, its about watching an amazing show or aerial aerobics. besides, id rather an amazing falcon dominate an ugly pigeon than have an ugly pigeon poop all over the sidewalk/buildings/myself. Pigeons are known as pests because of they poop over everything & poop makes things ugly & makes things rot faster.

  • @acorntu Pigeons are not pests. This is a false Idea. I bred pigeons when I was young. If pigeons were pests they wouldn’t represent the Holy Spirit. No one can imagine the city of Venice without pigeons. And pigeons don’t transmit diseases. They are even eaten in many countries as a tasty food. They are even attractions in circus. And there are various pigeon breeds. Some of them are very beautiful. What you are saying is ignorance. Just ignorance.

  • So pointless. Bad music. But killer ponytail.

  • my name is kestrel no, really im serious

  • why the hell are you training it to kill pigeons plus give the pigeon a fighting chance not just pull it out the bag and chuck it towards the kestrel its not going to be hard to take down a pigeon that is totaly confused and in shock so you sir are a evil cruel hearted BASTARD!!

  • @robertiaa he is training it that way and pigeons are part of the falcons diet so nothing wrong with that it happens naturally anyway

  • bit like shooting fish in a barrel

  • had one of these take a full grown cock wood pigeon at the side of my house last summer. it was pecking it's head and plucking it whilst it was still alive.

I had a cat at the time which just sat on the fence and watched was very surreal.

there was literally just a neat pile of feathers left at the end.

  • @steadyed Not a european Kestrel, surely? There's no way a european kestrel could cope with a wood pigeon - couldn't eat a whole one, could carry such a weight ... a Kestrel wouldn't even consider it. A sparrowhawk might, a goshawk definitely would, as would a peregrine.

  • @OggyGTA Hi mate we're quite rural here and I was told by a local farmer that he'd seen kestrels chasing pigeons over our area of the village. But I guess he could be wrong. Wish I could remember it clearer

  • @OggyGTA just watched a few Goshawks vids on here I reckon you're right definitely the same m.o and meticulous plucking and cloaking of the wings

  • @steadyed Hi Ed, Yeah, Goshawks are very strong hunters. Crows and pigeons are no problem to them. Kestrels and Merlins are pretty cool though :) All the best, mate.

  • you scumbag, release a pigeon for it to catch, big man, cop on to yourself, where did you get that pigeon anyway, you cruel f**k !!!!!!!!! big man eh?

  • thats pretty awesome

  • I think its utterly Beautiful that this bird, not much bigger than the prey can take it down in an instant. And even more beautiful how the wings act as a shield to protect it's food.

Marvellous :D Im totally in envy of this guy

  • Please don't put videos like this on youtube. It's not good public relations for our sport. There are enough folks out there that don't agree with the practice of falconry as it is. We don't need to hand them information and images of unethical practices like this. If you truly love the sport, refrain from showing people videos like this that could have a very real and damaging effect on our future as falconers.

  • @scottmcneff don't be silly. what do the general public THINK falconry is about? it's a pigeon

  • @scottmcneff I agree 100%, this is not the way to train a bird of prey. Its morally worng. I absolutly hate falconers who practice live baiting. and it something, I would never do.

  • @TheFalconer66 This clown righteously needs to get a life. Go hug a tree instead!

  • Where is this? Looks like an amazing countryside.

  • is iT A spArRow kEstrEL?

  • The reason the pigeon is tethered is because kestrel never kill pigeons in the wild they are simply too slow, perigrines have trouble, this is totally unatural for a kestrel and stupid really cruel for cruels sake. Kestrels cant and would never kill a pigeon..FACT.

  • @digidanrud FALSE. ive seen a kestrel catch a pigeon with my own eyes. pigeons are actually quite slow.

  • @SheepGo2Hell2

Pigeons have been clocked at 148 klms/h. If you call that slow.

  • @bapkek lol mate seriously thats crap!! i think its around 60mph max!!

  • @phoenix1916 lol mate seriously you should watch the vid from Canary Island. The pigeon was wired with GPS and it clocked in at 148 klm/h which is around 85 mph.

  • @bouvier0 must have been wired with a 2000cc engine to hit that speed, 148kph is 92 mph there is NO way that any pigeon can reach that speed mate??????????????

  • the reason its tethered is kestrels cant catch pigeons, perigrines have trouble. kestrels are simply too slow and never catch pigeons in the wild EVER. FACT.

  • @digidanrud I dont know what peregrines your talking about by mine has no trouble killing her share of pigeons.

  • What's the name of the song used in this video?

  • I sort of agree. I know this is how you train birds of prey, but I raise pigeons and love them and realising it 10 feet from the bird just doesnt seem fair for the pigeons. Just saying. Like i said I know this is how its done but....

  • Looks a well trained little bird. Your training methods with the tethered pigeon are illegal here in britain and some find it distastefull, including myself, However good luck to you and the Kes. Has she caught any that are not tethered yet?

  • Comment removed

  • people like fullah bellow me get on my last nerves and they just dont get things like this!!!!

  • think you want to try and sober up a bit then i wont get on your nerves ya bampot

  • total cruelty that ,that pigeon was teethered and made easy to catch and its not normal for kestrels to catch pigeons wish i knew the correct authorities to report this to , poor pigeon hade no fighting chance ,you sicko

  • He's training it. That's how some falconers train their falcons.

  • you fucking retard nature and thats how to train birds of prey!!! u r the people i really hate dont get it!!

  • only retard on here is you and dont tell me about nature just ask your mother ,and further i posted reply on here and it was taken of why is this

  • That is a beautiful female kestrel. seems a little larger than average. can't wait to see some clips of her killing wild sparrows but so far in the training your looking good man

  • 170 grams - at full contition - European Kestrel - MALE !!!! that is so amazing, that he used to hunt pigeons - this vid is from training, pigeon was bind on line, but after that, Leonidas has catched 11 wild pigeons so far. I´ll cut some vid and post it here.

  • cool video, but I'm pretty sure that's a female! males don't look like that...

  • males and females are the same, only differnce is in their size... and also in their gender..

  • maybe you are confused, I should also tell, that it is kestrel at his first year, so the collors of feathers looks like females. This year is he totaly diferent...

  • I swear, males have a gray head and tail...go check, just right male kestrel on google you'll see what I'm saying.

  • that´s right, but only after 1 year of life. Juvenile ( first year of life ) are males and females the same color. Only their weight is different ( and also size of legs) after 1 year they change feathers - males to grey on head, back and tail, and females are aproximately the same ass first year of live. The same is by goshawks. 1. year are both genders yellow-brown, second year - more gray, 3. and older - grey - white....

  • thats's correct; I did not know this one was a juvenile.

  • dude your video not this one said that you lost your kesrel u didnt lyer u still have it!!!!!!

  • he comes back 2 days after :)

  • @packercarlsenac I know a dude who does displays with his raptors at alnick castle and it didn't come back for 2 weeks.

  • What the fuck is wrong with u using a pigeon for a kestrel to eat and espicially the pigeon was right there for the kestrel to catch let me see a kestrel catch a pigeon when its not there to catch

  • Awesome AK, 5 stars. How rare for an AK to get something other than a dragonfly or if lucky a bat. You are an amazing trainer, this is my favorite raptor!

  • It's not an American Kestrel, but a european (Falco tinnunculus)

  • This Kestrel reminds me of my friends Red-tailed Hawk who toke down a adult fox. Birds of Prey will take down things bigger than themselfs in order for food.

  • you sick fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you were holding the pigeon while the kestrel eat it alive

    1 star you cruel fuck!

  • i have done falconry for many years but to do it like that isnt sport, the pigeon never had a chance from the start, its showing clips like this that give the "sport" a bad name. no wonder alot of country "sports" get banned. :(

  • Impressive.

Micky, try to understand that it was the wind that played a major factor in this day. Otherwise there's no way the kestrel would of been able to take down such large quarry. The Falconer did not hinder the pigeon and it was a huge ego booster to the kestrel that it was able to take such large prey.

I do not think it was poor falconry. I believe its proof that anything can be done.

  • Nice bird, nice video, and its training ignore the people here.

  • You should call it "Man feeds a live Pigeon to a Kestrel".I think you give the sport of falconery a bad name. The video was a dissapointment. The pigeon didnt stand much of a chance.

  • There is very little difference between this and the pigeon shoots they hold in Pennsylvania, the only US state that still allows them. People seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word sport.

  • kestrels would never take a pigeon in fair flight-thats unsporting and cheating!!-people like you will get falconry banned-arsehole!

  • The american ketsral naturally feeds on small song birds and small mammals... a slow clumsy pigeon in fair flight would be no problem for a kestral to run down and kill.

  • wow thats cruel. I understand, its a bird of prey. I have no proble with it hunting in the wild. But its cruel for this man to allow this

  • i think a kestrel is an awesome bird to hunt with! woot!

  • The music really really sucks !!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think that 1 bird normal live free can stay with u , maybe in a cage but when u try to save it fly i think never return back.

  • I catch-ed one like that, wild one, with my hands, didn`t fly for some reason... later flown, but that time, didn`t fly, couldn`t figure why, just a little flown and I chased it and caught it..

friend of mine put a finger into it`s beak...

o maaan, did he regret it, had to use some bone to open beak !! Barely opened it...

  • where can i buy one

  • before buy one u need to learn all about it, cuz the kestrel is not easy cause the low weight..

Before BUY U MUST LEARN not for u but for the bird...

    Sorry for my englisch

i Love the kestrel...but im going to imprint one peregrine

  • u cant just buy one u must register with the state and take falconry classes and then recieve a liscense for falconry

  • am doin a falconry courses in a few months do you think a kestrel would be a good starter bird?

  • there is no starting bird m8

  • No cuz his wight is like 300 g and need to care much the nutrition, i hear to much about it and is easy they gonna die ....

U can start with crow too but i think Peregrine is good.

    I

  • No it's not the bird for newbie...

Cause his wight to low, i hear they gonna die if u dont care it at the top.

  • I disagree, kestrel is perfect bird for the beginners... even he has low weight, it´s almost impossible to lose him during flying. kestrel stays with you, and he flyes to you even he is fulle feed. You don´t need to care so much about his weight. This mine male kestrel Leo had flying weight 177grams usuualy, but he was at the same if he was at 190 g...

  • hi svatosvk , i'm not a falconary at moment im working to do it and i always hear that the bird with low weight are difficult to care for newbie.

I love this bird and my friend told me is better to start with peregrine cuz is more strong and is not weak like kestrel.

But i like to hear that my friend said is not true cuz i want 1 kestrel too.

  • to fly peregrine, you need some skill... how to work with him... With kestrel is it very easy- but you need to controle his weight...

  • I think Red Tailed Hawks and Harris Hawks make better starter birds, or so I've read.

  • Nice video, great music and tight little bird! Thanks for sharing.

    The Pond Digger

  • hahaha hes so cute when hes eating the pigeon he needs a napkin LOL

  • hi birdfantastic for sure u dont have any knowledge ... lol stfu=] dont ever study or look at nature anymore homo

  • is this video available without the terrible music?

  • Very fit looking bird. Based on it dive bombing you like that, it ooks like it may be concentrating on you and your glove for food instead of the environment. I hope you got him out hunting quickly.

  • my dad has a gosshawk and a red-teil....i have a kestrel....mines a male is urs a female?

  • ho sings the song in the clip??

    super kesttrel y whant one

but my gos whil probabibli try to eat yt

  • I like gosshawks more, but that year I wanted to try something different - kestrel

  • The song is Open Your Eyes by Guano Apes.

  • thanks for the info...atb

  • Why don't you go bash the guy who's feeding baby hamsters to his Oscar Cichlids. That idiot actually breeds hamsters for it. That vid traumatized a friend.

This is falconry; a predator making a kill in a similar manner to as it would in the wild. In my mind it's generally more civilized than shooting something from over two hundred yards away. Whats fair about that!?

This is training with the pigeon on a string. In an actual hunt the quarry stands a chance; again as it would in the wild.

  • In the wild these falcons wouldn't be owned by humans so stfu about 'in the wild' People who truly respect nature have enough knowledge and aren't so self-centered to take ownership of other animals, get a remote controlled plane.

  • to je naozaj fascinujúce zviera

  • nice vid, dam those euro birds are big, im training 110 gram american female. keep uploading!

  • the first euro kezi i have seen catch/hunt any think biger than a werm lol nice one m8 how she doing on them now

  • It´s not she, but he ! It was male euro kestrel ! 170 gramms...awesome bird

  • i have a question when do you give water and when do you feed it

  • bop's dont drink/dont nead water

  • @tigger00025

Who told you that? Raptors should always have a water supply.

  • hopefully, I´m not from UK. We don´t have law of precedent, so... Welcome to the Slowakia.

  • That's illegal in United Kingdom, you would get fined or prison, live baiting for a bird of prey and put it on video!

  • dear friend, falconry in Slovakia is faaaaar away from falconry on the islands.....guys do a great job....they attend a year course, undergo rigid exams, getting license, they must provide huge knowledge an skills before they are allowed to get a first bird....you might have a "human" laws in the UK but what do you need to become a falconer? Kestrels are small birds but with a great heart of fighter....I have seen kestrel hunting on doves.

  • Kestre in the wild very rarely catch pigeon except very young one by suprise or wounded bird, kestrels very rarely chase big birds like pigeons. Yes my friend I once trained a kestrel in falconry.

  • I find that kinda cruel..but i guess its just making him feel more natural..So i cant wait for next vid.

  • Kestrel can't hold down pigeon. The pigeon hit very hard with the wings, I saw this few times. The pigeon can batter the Kestrel If you don't hold him with hand, like you do.

  • Yes, this was the first pigeon, and he was on fishing line. But since that time Leonidass has killed 5 pigeons, without any problems. Tomorrow I´m going hunt with camera, so I ´ll post new vid.

  • Yes, kestrels can hold down pigeons very well, and not only pigeons, I have fly a female in 230 grams on bagged magpies after hunting magpies 3 seasones with spars the kestrel was the only one capable of killing by herself magpies.

    Grate video.

  • nice one

  • helal olsun dostum kusun super.!
