BTW, the makers of this video are partially wrong at the end. The vc structure by the mid 1970's had basically died out due to the Phoenix Operation. A lot of the infrastructure was destroyed by U.S and South Viet Intelligence officers.
The take over of Saigon was done mainly by NVA regular forces. SOme today question why the V.c even raised their flag during the take over, since most of the invasion was done by the NVA>
it was a civil war ,any civil war suffer high casualty of there own people,just like the american civil war .most of the casualty that the u.s military claimed to be viet cong enemies were actually civilians .the viet congs by themselves fought against the united states,south korea,south vietnam,austrailia,and new zealand.
58,000 Americans died to an estermated 3.5 million viets, it was a bad war and u had a nice cideo but alot of it was'nt true. France was still rulers of vietnam when japan invaded japan left them as a puppet goverment. and when japan left vietnam was once again undr french control till they lost the indo china war.
You know even though I do not like the vc, I gotta give some respect to their guerrilla tactics. They knew they would never win a face to face battle with a bigger and stronger foe like the U.S.
However, I still think the vc were ruthless and didn't care about the lives of innocent women, men and children. They would use children and villagers as shields against plane bombings and shootings.

I was not only there, I volunteered to go there.
Each time I returned (3X), the situation got worse and worse. I watched TET 68 on tv and was out April of the same year.
USA should never have gotten involved in the mess crated by the French. So no, the French are still hated while the Americans are loved by most.
