depending on what type of operating system that was running on the laptops if you had a password on them the laptops were no use to them unless during system startup they told it to do a system recovery which wipes off everything you put on since factory installation and I do windows XP and 7 do it I would say vista does also but chances are they pawned those and as well as almost everything else
