She has a connection with two chars in there story Fang and Sazh (Wont say why she has with him yet) The reason she smiles alot is because she dosent know how to do anything else when she is afraid so she hides it behind a smile. you really didn't play far enough to understand what points vanille has for the story, she is actually VERY important and in the beggining she was very annoying, but as the character development went on, I began to think vanille was a decent character, by FAR not the best, but I just feel you didnt go far enough to understand the whole story, FF13's first 20+ hours are not the best, once you beat chapter 9, the game actually becomes very fun, and a game to remember :)

It's funny how you were only a third of the way through the game and complained that Vanille is a pointless character who's just kind of "there." In the end, she is the most important character, and she's absolutely central to the plot. And playing through the game a second time, after you know what's up, all of Vanille's actions just click. Everything she did, she did because she was all alone (Fang was her only companion, but Fang lost her memory) and ran from her problems to mask her anguish.

@Bastian19821 Can't completely agree with you on that. Balthier & Fran stole the show in that game. Would still like some sort of spinoff involving those two. The others I'll admit were a little lackluster. Ashe & Bashe could have used a little more personality. It's a shame because I love the character design for all the characters (except Vaan), but an injection of charisma would have been welcomed.

You know I didn't mind this game, but it definitely didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game...
The characters were annoying as hell, but I smoke like TONS of weed so most of the time I was able to tune them out and just geek out on the scenery and pretty colors. The fact that I was ridiculous stoned and still able to crush the hell out of this game probably says a lot in itself.

I don't get how Lightning's "apparel" is more revealing, when she's wearing a full top and shorts. While Vanille's clothing barely covers anything up. You can see mid-drift, a lot more shoulder and neck and finally more leg and thigh? lol So, that made no sense. lol Lightning is simply laughable. One of the worst main characters in a FF game. XD

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Vanille with a burning, burning passion. And that's with playing the Japanese version, so I didn't get to hear the inconsistent accent of doom...
Disagree with the hate on 12, though, love that game. Probably the only FF game where I didn't hate and abhor at least one of the characters. And it's hilarious how Squenix went from "only thing stopping you exploring *everything* is whether you can survive the monsters", to "Super Linearity of Doom."

SHE IS THE BEST. Shes so happy and her accent is EPIC. Sazh was like the best character and his story is sad. But I admit yeah Lightning is a noob. But If you actually play FF13 the story gets deeper and Sazhs son is turned into the Lacie because of something vanille did and thers this dramatic boss battle. SO SHUT UP. I totally disagree with you. I LOVE Vanille!!! Her accent is cute so stop making fun of her. So what if her accent isn't perfect. If you just pay attention to the game instead of trying to pick at what you think is wrong with the game then you would actually enjoy it. Final Fantasy 13 and 13-2 are my favorite Final Fantasy games. They always choose the BEST voice actors for every game. Trust me, the wouldn't choose someone who sucked lol.

you really didn't play far enough to understand what points vanille has for the story, she is actually VERY important and in the beggining she was very annoying, but as the character development went on, I began to think vanille was a decent character, by FAR not the best, but I just feel you didnt go far enough to understand the whole story, FF13's first 20+ hours are not the best, once you beat chapter 9, the game actually becomes very fun, and a game to remember :)

The only people who die are those in combat AGAINST you and Hope's mother.
ALL characters turn to crystal and all except Fang&Vanille emerge after x amount of years. I doubt Vanille&Fang are in FF13-2 or FF14 (if there is a 14th)

It's funny how you were only a third of the way through the game and complained that Vanille is a pointless character who's just kind of "there." In the end, she is the most important character, and she's absolutely central to the plot. And playing through the game a second time, after you know what's up, all of Vanille's actions just click. Everything she did, she did because she was all alone (Fang was her only companion, but Fang lost her memory) and ran from her problems to mask her anguish.
