Great Explination xD loved this show it was my favorite show to date. Got alot of my friends into it. I loved how at the end the church theyr in has alot of symbols like the star of david a cross the ying and yang like it made you feel like no matter how much evil there was or is most religions lead to the same place and they all lead into like the sun go watch that and also Jacob put that on the blanket he made. Dont know much about it though maybe someone could explain x] .
no they were dead from the beginning of season 1. they all died and ended up on the island together from the crashed flight. i like you, but your thoughts on the series are wrong.
@akira6666666 dude the truth is no one will know, its one of those shows where you choose the ending. So its time everyone would stfu and belive what they want
for instance I think that the people hurley saw wouldn't accept going to the purgatory and then they went to heavean/hell or whatever
i read an interview with Tim Burton, regarding his take on the planet of the apes.
I always want to feel that im following a plot carefully, understanding it perfectly only having it dashed by a logical twist that undermimes all of my theories,
i want a plot where i never get back on track, i want to feel ignorant in every aspect of a story, to me that makes a story worth telling. even if it makes no sense at all,JJ Abrams is a fan of tim burton, maybe he doent want you to getit all
@mbjac Lol yeah dude thats what i loved about this story in my mind i always had theories but the problem was i related my theories on logic and there was nothing logical about the island they landed on and it always had me trying to put together a puzzle and sometimes i was like OH YEAH And then bam through me off with somthing i couldnt explain at all loved this about the show i was always eager in trying to find out what happend and the end did not disapoint me. That's what I thought about being stuck in limbo. Jack dies but everyone on that plane as jack watched got off and flew away. They were alive. Jack wasn't so to the naked eye you were initially led to believe they all died when Jack did, in which wasn't the case.
What about the psychic's daughter? She came back to life after being dead for a day? What was special about claire's baby? Security system? Why would Jacob have Ben do all of these terrible things to people?
I don't think the lostiet figured out how to create this place, I think that their bonds were so strong from their love of each other that they were drawn to each other in the afterlife and that is what Christian means when he says: "this is the place that you all made together so you could find one another" it was that they subconciously built it not knowing what was coming and that is why they couldn't remember the previous life until they found their constant.
@lemon5646 The way I think of Jack's son is that all of the castaways created the "purgatory" that they lived in and for the most part, they were all the people they wanted to be. For instance, Hurley had great luck, Nadia was still alive even if she wasn't with Sayid, and in Jack's case, Jack got to be the father that his father wasn't- a good one. So Jack had a son so he could be the person that he wanted to be.

And The people still left on the Island go to heaven because they figure out the Island or redemmed themselfs. I can only explain so much but very good, explanation Tim.
Tim, i'm going to have to disagree. But good observation. And Opinion.
They all died on the plane. But in the Bible it states that theres a place before going to heaven or hell, theres a place with Beauty and Evil (The Island) and you see every one in the church (Heaven) exept Michael, AnnaLucia Ecko, Ben. The reason is, is that they commited very bad sins, but on the Island there chance of going to heaven failed because they couldn't redeem there self, Sawyer killed a man but on the island red
@BreakNineFilmz There is no disagreeing.. that is what happened and although when this video was posted it was his take on it, what he said was right and the producers confirmed it soon after the finale aired.
Great explination. I love the way we can figure out in our own way my take on was:
Those that crashed on the island were healed and were able to come and go, even leave the island in there state of limbo. The island allowed them to live even though marked with death. The island was a form of limbo where the dead are able to exist and the living can visit. The dead are also able to visit the living. The island is simply a gateway for both.
@adamlyons87 try ''the walking dead" you'll all love that show, the first season is on netflix and the second season is on Amc channel 254 if you have direct tv =) hope you all enjoy.
@milo126 yes i agree....i was in this point...and i forgot that ben staed outside....i think this explains evr...it's obviously a limbo situation...not dead...not alive..thnx a lot tim!!!
I prefer a more scientific explanation (I did love Daniel Faraday). When they blew up the A-bomb it created the side-way universe. At the very end, in the church, they just remember what happenned in the other universe and they are now free to live a whole new life in that new universe. It's a simple time paradox. If the blow up the bomb the plane don't crash, if the plane don't crash they don't blow up the bomb. The only way to avoid a time paradox is to create an alternate universe.
@0eulogra0 i think more people dont talk about that because of the fact that they were still on the island after the bomb exploded... and also based on the fact that in the flash sideways there was not concept of time... everyone lived at the same moment even people who died off the island, ie jacks dad.
@0eulogra0 this might be true but it doesn't explain the fact that when the plane didn't crash and Jack landed, he had a son, wich came outta nowhere lol and he was married to Juliet before and so on, i really think TheTimTracker is right on some points, it was some kind of limbo.
@halfvulcan Season 6 revealed the mysteries behind the black smoke, Jacob, the cave skeletons, why people were brought to the island, and some things about Dharma if you count the bonus epilogue, so I think they did alright this year. However I agree that they left a lot unresolved too, like the cabin and the statue.
@CosmicUndeadElf The way I see it is that the mythology presented in Lost has nothing to do with the actual story of the Losties and all. I think the island is a representation of humanity of earth, symbolically, hence has a little bit of the bigest civilizations that existed and the course of humans in earth. Its like monster mommy and smoke monster were saying: They come, they corrupt, they destroy they die. The statue, the temples etc is what was left of all of them.
You're a clever man, I wish more people could understand what the ending really meant and stop saying the writers made it up at the last minute and stupid crap like that. If you think about it this sideways dimension fits in perfectly with the themes of time travel and spirits that we've seen in Lost. I think anyone who says the finale sucked is just proving they have no imagination.
well actually they all died at one point on the plane crash and island is all purgatory, and all the people figure out how to cause the plane not to crash and then they all figure out in the flash sid ways that they are all dead
@MrSuperLuigiRobby If they were dead all along then how are they able to die again while on the island? Ghosts can't get shot, blown up, or drown etc. Also if they were all ghosts since the crash they would be able to see the other ghosts, not just Hurley. For all I know you could be right but I just don't see how the infamous "they all died in the crash" theory could work.
I think that Lost´s biggest con was to make us and the characters think that Jacob and his brother were eterial beings, I think that was part of the test they went throuth. I also think that all the crazy shit is a metaphor of life, it doesn´t matter how many toes the statue has, nor were the polar bear came form, all that matters at the end of your life are the decitions you made, the people you loved and the happy moments you had.
@halfvulcan whoa! i feel your pain! i was pretty mad too! but i guess i sort of figured it was in the sprit of lost to leave it up to the fans to continue the story line. just like in that game or alternate story line that was happening in real life with alvar hanso and all the other characters that were not on the show!
thank you for actually getting that the island was real. It drives me insane that stupid people insist the finale said they all died and the island was never real.
i dont know if i can explain but nobody watch the lost to see that the idea was everybody go to the limbo but to understand what F***** was the island. 6 year man we all expected they tell us the mystery about the island.
by the way why everybody suffer like they did and after this they go to a limbo the should go straight to heaven without stop.
but i got the hole mystery is about a simple thing "THE STOPPER".
and could be worse could everything be a dream of the Vicent the dog.
I think tht the island was the limbo and they were destined to meet and dicover hope, purpose, love, etc..> And The light is well the source of the abbility to pass to a better place, And the smke monster is the darkness within the light. Jacob and the smoke monster had destinies pre-set. And Jack created the flash side-ways to learn to finally let go and continue with these people, These people needed each other to let go hand in hand.
@guitarherownz uh oh! this one is impossible to answer because everyone who didnt die on the show could have died at anytime... ever! because there is no time in the flash sideways they could meet up even though jack died at the end of the series, but kate was still alive as she left the island... she could have lived to be an old lady! we dont know!
I agree with all of what you said except for the Ben-Hurley bit. Hurley tells Ben he WAS a good #2. And Ben tells Hurley he was a good #1. However, when Hurley asks Ben if he is coming in the church, Ben reveals he has "other things to take care of" (sic). Which makes me believe that he is one of the few that didn't take part in the final church scene. Because in real time, he is still alive.
@63IRISH63 yea, i wasnt sure about whether ben was still alive until i realized that there is no time in the flash sideways... so there for ben is dead because everyone is dead... no matter who you are or when you lived.... i think...
@63IRISH63 ben says he has some things to take care of because he feels he needs to make amence and repent for all the bad things he did in his life. He may also want to wake alex and danielle (and possibly annie) up and move on with them. Very simple.
So basically what you're saying is that everyoneone died like we all do. Some of them earlier, like Jack and others eventually died as old people, but in the afterlife they were able to get together. Then why do they all look like they looked in the last season. I mean if Kate lived on for the next 40 years why isn't she an old woman?
@brazlyn123 i think they all looked the same age in limbo because they said they all were on the island together and that was a very memorable part of their lives so they all wanted to look the age that they were when they were on the island. that way they could jog each others memories before they went on to where ever they were going.
Yeah, I agree, it was a nice ending and everything, BUT....I feel like the producers really took the easy way out on this. "Let's just make everyone dead in the flash sideways and call it a day".
I mean, how badass could they have made the ending? Jack dies fine, but then maybe pan to Ben and Hurley, have them look to the sky to show another airliner crashing on the island, then having them look at each other and smile, END... I mean, at least it's something. Nice ending, but disappointing.
@gestekoe that would have been awesome! i have to admit i was expecting something a little bit more intense for the ending based on what the show was for the entirety of its life! lol
If there is no now, wouldn't they actually be in this "afterlife" for eternity? Almost as if, since the beginning of time, every human destined to exist has a soul trapped in an afterlife. They are, in a way, stuck. The only way they can move on from this afterlife is if they do something in the real world that is morally good enough...such as find love or defeat evil. If a person doesnt live well on earth, he will not have an event to allow him to remember, and will always be stuck in "limbo."
@Dylvisions24 yea! its pretty crazy to think that we are already conscious (now) of what is going to happen in the future, in the afterlife! uh oh! my mind just got blown!
Ive seen the ending a few days ago, i agree it wasnt bad and i enjoyed it, but then again i was some what "wtf?" if you know what i mean xD I must say your explanation helped! thx for sharing :)
i somewhat understand this. the ending got me so confused. they all died at different times and they met up in the afterlife. and when they defused the bomb in the 5 season, they changed the whole past. i think in the flash sideways the plane crashed and they all died. but thats just for the sideways flash in their different lives in a different time period. but the people who crashed in the first season was real and they were alive
@itsbigandfat i dont know if the bomb changed the whole past, but it did throw them to a different time period! i think the writers just started the flash sideways when the bomb went off to throw the watchers for a loop!
So the basic concept of what you said is, the Island is limbo, and the people that crashed were serving their time in limbo there? I'm still somewhat confused.
I think the point of the source of light was truly the dim light that every human has. Remember when the mom said that all men were evil yet had a light that made them a bit of good? Jacob wanted to protect that light from the man in black who wanted to use that light to get off the island, i.e like using a good thing for a bad cause like we see today. He then would've wreaked havoc on life as we know it and just as the light in the island went out so did the light in the world. Light prevailed.
I agree. The "sideways" was a place the group created, so that they could find one another. Its hard to explain non-linear time. Non-linear time makes it possible for you to die, and move on to "limbo" (or whatever) and see everyone you have always cared for. Even if those people died long AFTER you, they will still be there waiting for you. Just like with Jack. When Jack finally dies, his last moments he sees the plan with Kate, Claire and Sawyer flying away. He smiles because...
...because he knows he saved them. But when he dies, he is greeted with Kate, Sawyer and Claire all there - waiting for him. This is because time is Non-Linear in the afterlife. Anyone and everyone is there because we all die at some point. Since there is no "now" then no matter when you die, you will always be greeted with your loved ones. I loved this idea, its very romantic and comforting.
Yup I agree. I think Ben couldn't go in because he was going to hell, and every one else was going to heaven, I think there was a Jesus Christ idea with John lock, because he forgave Ben.
@jk28416 maybe... but i dont know that ben was going to hell because he changed his ways towards the end of his life... i just think he had to tie up a few loose ends with alex...
@TheTimTracker Alex didn't exist nor anybody else in the flash side ways, remember john lock said to jack 'You have no children' after he fixed his spine, I think it was important that Ben was left outside because he was going to another place, call it hell if you like.
i watched the series in 3 weeks on netfilx and was thoroughly satisfied by the ending but i can understand why people who've invested 6 years to not like it

0eulogra0 1 year ago
@0eulogra0 Not sure why there isn't more people talking about that interpretation. I find it a lot more satisfying.
0eulogra0 1 year ago
@0eulogra0 i think more people dont talk about that because of the fact that they were still on the island after the bomb exploded... and also based on the fact that in the flash sideways there was not concept of time... everyone lived at the same moment even people who died off the island, ie jacks dad.
TheTimTracker 1 year ago 2
@0eulogra0 this might be true but it doesn't explain the fact that when the plane didn't crash and Jack landed, he had a son, wich came outta nowhere lol and he was married to Juliet before and so on, i really think TheTimTracker is right on some points, it was some kind of limbo.

TheTimTracker 1 year ago
@halfvulcan Season 6 revealed the mysteries behind the black smoke, Jacob, the cave skeletons, why people were brought to the island, and some things about Dharma if you count the bonus epilogue, so I think they did alright this year. However I agree that they left a lot unresolved too, like the cabin and the statue.
CosmicUndeadElf 1 year ago

CosmicUndeadElf 1 year ago
@CosmicUndeadElf well why don't you go rewatch the 6th season and then reason with it again
MrSuperLuigiRobby 1 year ago
@MrSuperLuigiRobby If they were dead all along then how are they able to die again while on the island? Ghosts can't get shot, blown up, or drown etc. Also if they were all ghosts since the crash they would be able to see the other ghosts, not just Hurley. For all I know you could be right but I just don't see how the infamous "they all died in the crash" theory could work.
CosmicUndeadElf 1 year ago
I think that Lost´s biggest con was to make us and the characters think that Jacob and his brother were eterial beings, I think that was part of the test they went throuth. I also think that all the crazy shit is a metaphor of life, it doesn´t matter how many toes the statue has, nor were the polar bear came form, all that matters at the end of your life are the decitions you made, the people you loved and the happy moments you had.

@halfvulcan whoa! i feel your pain! i was pretty mad too! but i guess i sort of figured it was in the sprit of lost to leave it up to the fans to continue the story line. just like in that game or alternate story line that was happening in real life with alvar hanso and all the other characters that were not on the show!

i dont know if i can explain but nobody watch the lost to see that the idea was everybody go to the limbo but to understand what F***** was the island.

Okay, so when did everyone die who didn't die in the show? >_<
guitarherownz 1 year ago
@guitarherownz uh oh! this one is impossible to answer because everyone who didnt die on the show could have died at anytime... ever! because there is no time in the flash sideways they could meet up even though jack died at the end of the series, but kate was still alive as she left the island... she could have lived to be an old lady! we dont know!
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
I agree with all of what you said except for the Ben-Hurley bit. Hurley tells Ben he WAS a good #2. And Ben tells Hurley he was a good #1. However, when Hurley asks Ben if he is coming in the church, Ben reveals he has "other things to take care of" (sic). Which makes me believe that he is one of the few that didn't take part in the final church scene. Because in real time, he is still alive.
63IRISH63 1 year ago
@63IRISH63 yea, i wasnt sure about whether ben was still alive until i realized that there is no time in the flash sideways... so there for ben is dead because everyone is dead... no matter who you are or when you lived.... i think...
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
@TheTimTracker, When ben tells hugo he has other thing to take care of, he means starting a life with danielle rousseau and alex rousseau.
kaanyEast 1 year ago
@kaanyEast i think your right because he missed out on a life with them in real life! lol
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
@63IRISH63 ben says he has some things to take care of because he feels he needs to make amence and repent for all the bad things he did in his life. He may also want to wake alex and danielle (and possibly annie) up and move on with them. Very simple.
DillonB1234 1 year ago
limbo? is not it called limbuS ?
tranquilitychrist 1 year ago
@tranquilitychrist i think you can used the terms interchangeably
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
So basically what you're saying is that everyoneone died like we all do. Some of them earlier, like Jack and others eventually died as old people, but in the afterlife they were able to get together. Then why do they all look like they looked in the last season. I mean if Kate lived on for the next 40 years why isn't she an old woman?
brazlyn123 1 year ago
@brazlyn123 i think they all looked the same age in limbo because they said they all were on the island together and that was a very memorable part of their lives so they all wanted to look the age that they were when they were on the island. that way they could jog each others memories before they went on to where ever they were going.
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
Yeah, I agree, it was a nice ending and everything, BUT....I feel like the producers really took the easy way out on this. "Let's just make everyone dead in the flash sideways and call it a day".
I mean, how badass could they have made the ending? Jack dies fine, but then maybe pan to Ben and Hurley, have them look to the sky to show another airliner crashing on the island, then having them look at each other and smile, END... I mean, at least it's something. Nice ending, but disappointing.
gestekoe 1 year ago
@gestekoe that would have been awesome! i have to admit i was expecting something a little bit more intense for the ending based on what the show was for the entirety of its life! lol

myrealnameislevi 1 year ago
@myrealnameislevi hehe, i think you forgot an "s" at the end of weed...
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
If there is no now, wouldn't they actually be in this "afterlife" for eternity? Almost as if, since the beginning of time, every human destined to exist has a soul trapped in an afterlife. They are, in a way, stuck. The only way they can move on from this afterlife is if they do something in the real world that is morally good enough...such as find love or defeat evil. If a person doesnt live well on earth, he will not have an event to allow him to remember, and will always be stuck in "limbo."

TheTimTracker 1 year ago
i somewhat understand this. the ending got me so confused. they all died at different times and they met up in the afterlife. and when they defused the bomb in the 5 season, they changed the whole past. i think in the flash sideways the plane crashed and they all died. but thats just for the sideways flash in their different lives in a different time period. but the people who crashed in the first season was real and they were alive
itsbigandfat 1 year ago
@itsbigandfat i dont know if the bomb changed the whole past, but it did throw them to a different time period! i think the writers just started the flash sideways when the bomb went off to throw the watchers for a loop!

EgyptianPlanet 1 year ago
@EgyptianPlanet i like this idea!
TheTimTracker 1 year ago
BePeaceful 1 year ago
...because he knows he saved them.

@TheTimTracker Alex didn't exist nor anybody else in the flash side ways, remember john lock said to jack 'You have no children' after he fixed his spine, I think it was important that Ben was left outside because he was going to another place, call it hell if you like.
