The purpose is, yes to know what'll be to come in the future, but also, once it happens, that we may know it was not an accident but already told before hand by God. That we DO have a God who has revealed things to come.

No, if you read the context, should you have a Bible, you see that Isaiah was predicting that Cyrus in the future to them, would deliver the Jews out of Babylon and capture/overtake the city. No second war, but the end of the Babylonian empire, and the start of the Medo-Persian one.

When Isaiah had prophesied this, Babylon had not yet capture Jerusalem. This would soon happen though, and for 70 years the Jews were captive to the Babylonians. After this, it was Cyrus, 150 yrs prior called of God who would conquer next. The night they fell, Babylon was feasting, & were drunk. Cyrus had dug around the river to make the water levels low enough to sneak under the gate, and open the double doors of Babylon, taking them by surprise and defeating them. History agrees.

Here is another one, you cannot deny. When you study Daniel chapters 2, and 7, you see another prophecy unfold. This one, predicting the rise and fall of the nations that would come. At the time this prophecy was made, Babylon was ruling. The next nation predicted to rise was Medo Persia, then Greece, then another, who as given many descriptions to depict Rome. This is not a historical account, but was predicted long b4 the other nations rose.

In fact, the Greek adjective bebaios though translated as more sure in the KJV is predicated and occurs in the comparative degree and was properly translated as confirmed the NKJV.

In other words, the voice which he, James, and John heard while on the mount with Jesus confirmed that the prophecies concerning Jesus were true.
