Good Video, I have an unissued 1982 Yugo M59/66. Love the gun but I clean it more than I shoot it for obvious reasons. Good info in you video. Enjoy you guns ! Take care my friend.
@T55Storm - IMI BT/AT-44 dual-purpose or Mk14 rifle grenades and others in that class are fired from the shoulder. the some older US WWII and Korea rifle grenades such as the M31 were not fired from the shoulder, but others were fired from the shoulder when needed. in fact it's hard to find a video of the SKS firing a rifle grenade Mortar style, they are a direct fire weapon. The M100 Grenade Rifle Entry Munition (GREM) is always shoulder fired (normally from the M16)
@adcomamps - Most sks not working well will need a new SKS Piston Extension. Rifles that have seen a lot of service will have this part worn out. easy to replace, and you can buy one from Tapco for around 8 dollars
@adcomamps clean the dam thing and try another mag in it most feeding problems are caused by the mag ive put 500 rounds in a day in my sks at the range and never had a problen with it jamming up on me
i have one sks and it worth every penny that i paid for it i love my yugo sks 59/66 i made some modification a trigger job a tapco stock and tapco muzzle break great rifle for the money
The amazingness of that Yugo SKS and the video made my head explode, excuse me while I pick up the pieces :) I want an SKS, Yugolsavian M59/66A1 with trituium illuminated nightsight the origian military grenade lauching spigot, the bayonette and an orgional ZRAK optic as well as all matching serial numbers. Man I want night Vision on my norico SOOO bad I would love to here the mount you got and the model of nightvision your running with. Can you use stripper clips still? if not do you know a better scope say 300 yards and under nightvision wise that would allow for strippers..The SKS is just so damn good as a survivalist weapon I need eyes at night.
Chrome-lined barrel in all but the yugo m59/66 (later years it was chromed too). Can put *thousands* of rounds through it and any ammo from hot loads to even some subsonic rounds will cycle the thing. Reliable as death and taxes. Takes a beating and fires in the most adverse conditions. It laughs at corrosive ammo and is dirt cheap to fire. All except rare sheet metal chinese versions have forged and milled receivers with hardened bolts. Gotta use short/side mounted scopes to avoid eject cases.
@EmanGtown I would bet my life on it and you will not get performance and reliability like the SKS anywhere near the sub $300 an SKS fetches. I purchased mine as an unissued, cherry, full numbers matching, military surplus rifle packed in cosmoline since 1969 just 2 months ago for $200. Another $200 got me 1200 rounds of surplus all-steel FMJ berdan-primed czech ammo in a 47 lb crate. 2 inch groups at 200 yards after playing with 400+ rounds. I sleep with it. I'm joking. No I'm not. Yes I am.

@shino9797 its incredibly easy to disassemble. which is great. ammo at walmart for the cheap stuff is about 5 dollars for 20 rounds. it just feels good to hold. get the yugo version
#1 There is no such thing as a "good hunting/homedefense rifle" any Hunting rifle worth being called a hunting rifle is typically high powered You don't use high powered ammunition in an urban environment ever. That ammo will Peirce STRAIGHT through a body and holds the VERY real possibility of unintentionally hitting someone else. #2 Hunting Rifles are Large and Unworldly and not suited to be throwing around hallway corners.
@shino9797 (continued) yuo said you are 13 and "play airsoft" you already give off the air of immaturity and Just from reading your post you seem to have this mindset that guns are cool. Based on this alone you should NOT be trusted with the car, upkeep, and ownership of a firearm much less for home protection. These rifles were built for war not for children to play with.
Poor home defence gun: it's long and will shoot through walls far, far too easily. At 13 you should not be thinking about buying a gun for home defence. Airsoft is really fun, but don't think for a second that it makes you qualified to take a life in any situation.
It's a good deer gun, but might be a little heavy for someone your age. That said, it's good, cheap fun, and if it is too big for you, you'll grow into it pretty quick. Accurate enough to have fun @ 100yds.
Why are you thinking about home defense, you are 13?! And what are you going to do with night sights?
There is a big difference between those air soft toys of yours and a real firearm.
Anyway kid, you want to learn to shoot, you want something on the cheap end, and accurate, go to a Big 5 and look for a Mosin-Nagant, and find a range that provides shooting lessons, or someone who's been around rifles awhile, because you clearly have no respect for firearms yet.
I think that technically if you add a scope to an sks you are in violation of federal law unless you then also remove the bayonet and the lug. In the case fo the yugo if you remove the bayonet and lug you also have to remove the granade launcher and granade site as well as the threds for the launcher attatchment
In this case its not about 922r. My understanding is that the sks is imported as a Curio & Relic rifle. Basically its allowed in the country because of its historical significance. Making any modifications of any kind to a Curio forfits its Curio status and once you do that you have to remove all the "evil" features or baring that do a 922r conversion.
@realsamwise - It's still fully legal and you don't need to remove anything. what happens is if you change the weapon you change the status of the weapon. so if you were to sell the weapon and the status has changed you cannot sell the weapon as a C&R, it must be sold just like any weapon at that point. now you can return the weapon to original issue then the weapon returns to it's C&R status again. (922r is required when you add any aftermarket parts to the weapon)
The ATF has stated repeatedly that in order for a surplus military firearm to retain C&R status, it must be complete and in its “original military configuration”. Otherwise, it is not C&R and may not be importable under Title 18 USC § 925(d)(3).Should C&R status be lost, the firearm would not be transferable as a C&R firearm. In addition, any remaining “restricted features” will need to be removed. The scope could only be added if no modifications to the gun where required to do so.
The issue is I think if you are using a scope that just screws on or clamps on. the ones I have seen require removal of the original receiver cover and replacing it with a US made one with the mounts. I am sure that tipe would qualify as making changes to the gun because you are removing a part. You would have to mount it directly somehow. I would say get a spare Russian made cover and use it for the scope and keep the original for when you take it off. that might pass ATF muster
@tigerm48 - traumatic amputation via serpentine fan belt on a truck motor, when I slipped on wet grass bending over to check trans fluid and my hand was pulled into it
@MollyTheLag $150-200 for chinese/norinco (A little more in unfired or unissued state) Mostly low quality with a few diamonds in the sand. You might get lucky.
$200-350 for Yugoslavian. These have a gas piston shutoff switch to reduce recoil and "Lurching" of the gun for more accuracy at the cost of cycling the bolt with every shot.
$300-500+ for a Russian. These are reputed to have the best accuracy and reliability of all the standards, but the others *Can* be accurate.
@Hadesmyboa5 - you might try a search for kalinkaoptics. they have a pdf on mounting the skope mount to the receiver as well as all the parts you need to get the job done.
@Hadesmyboa5 - SKS don't not have a mouth ;) had you been paying attention you would have noticed the AK scope with the side mount. the other SKS with the Night Vision scope is custom fit for that rifle and drilled and tapped. as for the range, the Tabuk Sniper Rifle was very effective in Iraq, and it was a scoped 7.62x39 round as well. You do know these scopes have bullet drop compensator's in them don't you? the 59/66 models in the video have high velocities then other SKS's and shoot flatter
@diazaa - large Objectives need to sit higher, just like the AN/PVS-2 and AN/PVS-4. This is a more compact version of the AN/PVS-2 and the wayyyy to high is one inch with this scope compared to your normal rifle scope of 1/4 to 1/2 inch. not so high after all.
@Leejun85 - Maybe before opening your mouth and making a stupid statement you should have asked the condition of the original stock. The rifle was purchased for $99 and had a fractured stock from when it was being imported. so the broken stock was replaced with one they was NOT broken. so much for your stupid resale statement moron
You handle your weapons poorly. Just because the SKS is a rugged carbine it says alot when you slam parts to get them to work. I would not let you touch my Russian. Oh and the scope is ridiculas.
@Leejun85 - Were you born stupid, or is it from huffing shit? before making additional stupid comments, ASK so you don't look even more stupid. The bayonet on the 59/66 is designed to be snapped into place. not lifted like the other models. I could not get the bayonet to snap due to my hand which is partially missing. you really do need a weapons education. and which scope would that be? there are two mounted. the Big one is a night vision scope. so there you go again MORON.
i dislike the fact that some countries that cant make their own weapons instead COPY them from Russia like China they completely copied Russian guns because they cannot think of their own guns and just work at factories were the russians make new better guns that the chinese use, in my opinion the Iraki are better at making guns without any good materials. the Chinese just copy the russian guns and call them "Type" .
@blizzard249 - in he case of China the weapon is Licensed for manufacture by China. They are not identical for many reasons. It would seem you forget that The Chinese were one of the ones who invented black powder, rockets, and the first black powder weapons. they have the ability to make anything, but when you are one of Russia allies during the cold war you use Russian made weapons for weapon and ammo compatibility. Norinco made US weapons, and China makes an M16 and the best AK drum mags
thanks for the waste of time u didint really tell any one usfull at all u didint even say when u lift the sight for the gernade their is a lever that turns off the semi auto
@rhines215 - two options.. 1. use a short red dot scope. I have done this and it works well. 2. attach an AK style side mount and use AK scopes. this mounts the scope off to the left side of the receiver so you still have room for the stripper Clips. I have one SKS (59/66) setup as a DMR like this, and it works the best
Im looking into buying an sks and i need to know do any of the yugo sks rifles have a chromelined barrel? I plan to get a chinese for that feature but if there is a yugo model with it please let me know.
@tigerm48 - no the Yuygo's don't have the chromed barrel, but thats also why they shoot better. but they are harder to maintain too (bore needs to be cleaned good and oiled right after shooting)
Nice little review here, I like how you showed a few mods and a few stocks, easy conversions for an SKS that make it into almost a totally different rifle. One question. As far as I know, on the Yugo 59/66, the button to allow you to raise the grenade sight also bypasses the gas tube, or basically makes the rifle non semi-automatic for firing rifle grenades with a blank. Is this correct? As for price, my surplus Yugo's cost 255 about 6 years ago, I saw a beaten up one recently for 985.
and you are remembering it incorrectly. at no point did he (or would he) state the purpose for chrome lined barrels is to make the powder clog up the barrel.
Dr. William Atwater would agree with me 100%.. and the reason why is the explanation you provided is asinine and has nothing to do with fact or physics.
It's been a couple years since I have seen the interview, but Dr Atwater stated his command during vietnam required that they never left a round in the chamber.
the reason is the round would swell due absorbtion of water caused by the heating and cooling of the barrel, which causes the cartridge to sweat, absorb the water and swell, as well as cause rust in the chamber, and therefore make extraction nearly impossible (due to the pits in the chamber the fired round expands into those pits, and locks the round in place
now had what you are saying been a fact, then the inside of the gas block would be chrome plated due to the powder cloging up the gas port/gas block leading to the gas tube.
now I can break this all down for you if you wish in one of my M16/AR video threads. You see I actually went to school for this stuff, used to be a consultant, spent 16 years in the Army, combat vet, and I'm a current gunsmith. And my AR collection exceeds 15. anymore questions?
Yeah well it was an issue with the first M16's made ... they fired the ball grain and it had a tendency to leave this powder when ignited ... So they started issuing the M16 with the chrome barrels so the powder wouldnt stick to it and clog it up !!!
The powder that was recommended for the M16 was not used, and it was changed to a very much hotter loading which was never tested or approve for use in the M16.
That powder mixed with the fact that they didn't even have cleaning kits is why the M16 jammed and got a bad reputation.
Cleaning kits were then issued, and future ammunition was switched to the approved loading.
The Chromed chamber and barrel was to prevent rusting of the bore in the high humidity of Vietnam
the chrome lined barrel has nothing to do with the gas system. The gas tube on the M16 is Stainless steel, and it cannot be cleaned. it's not chromed in any way and just blows any residue into and on the bolt carrier which in time whichout basic cleaning will stop the rifle from firing.
Chrome lined barrels are all about preventing rusting and pitting, and not about keeping them clean.
One of the dirtyest powders is Wolf. and I shoot cases of the stuff without cleaning for testing.
Very funny.... I use an Audio-Technica 700 Series Pro wireless UHF system, and the XLR mic seen here is the Audio Technica PRO8HEx Headworn Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone with a Frequency Response of: 200 - 18,000 Hz Designed for professional quality vocal pickup with hands-free operation (Lists just over $100 for the Mic alone)
Rad studio affects i have a ak 74 and sks but love sks and how rugged it is alot of upgrades on this weapon the only let down is the magazine if you change the stock, thanks...........
I've hit good groups at 100 yards with the stock iron sights and practice. At 200 to 300 yards it's really tough to get a hole in the bullseye. Great gun. The best scopes to put on them are mini scopes with the deflector. Tapco, Tick bite, and Buy-Milsurp are great websites for parts.
Wow, that is a sick collection of SKS's. I got a 1950 Russian SKS that I wouldn't think of modifying. Tempted to get a Chinese one as a project gun, but since I live in California, all of the cool stuff is off limits. Keep up the good work. Iike the videos, love the wardrobe and backgrounds. Oh and I know a guy, who was "drive-by bayoneted", it is a huge problem in California since the high capacity mag ban.
I have two Chinese and Russian SKS's and they are excellent rifles. I have a Yugo but its paperweight sadly. My Yugo had a severley pitted chamber so it could not function. I'm betting if it had a chrome lined barrel it would have been okay.
over 120,000 were imported into Australia over many years. the gun bans only accounted for little more than 20% of them. I wonder what happened to the rest of them ;)
hey weaponeer, what was that night vision scopes name, and how much was it. the one you showed first. i have a yugo 59/66 and was just wondering. i'm kinda broke, but the night vision sounds pretty great. thanks.
What happen to the gas tube on your Tapco sks? Also what type of muzzle brake you have on that? Would you say it helps with muzzle climb? Is there any trigger work done to any of your sks's? Is there enough question marks for your ??? lol
Nice catch on the missing gas tube assy. I removed it just prior to the video to talk about 922r US made parts required when changing to the US stock, but I was running short on time and then forgot to bring it up. (my fault).
The Type 56 had a brake on it, but overall it was worthless. The Yugo's have the original launchers and no brakes.
All the triggers are stock, which means they are heavy by design. I'll have some spare time coming up and I may modifiy one for a better trigger.
Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering about the trigger because it seems a lot of people are giving positive feedback on the Kivaari's trigger job. He has his own section on the Sksboards. I been thinking of sending my trigger group to him, just never got around to it i suppose.
not sure where this guy gets his facts from but a lot of them are wrong. At 300yds a 7.62x39mm round is eating the dirt. Not all Russian rifles took the removable mags, just the D. And half the time those mags didnt work right.
actually they are ALL 100% correct. The effective range is 300 yards, Max effective range is 400 yards. at no time did I cover all the models, and even made that statement at the start of the video, I also at no time stated any of the SKS's took removable mags. I didn't cover the D becuase I don't have an example to display in the video, but those took standard AK mags, and the mags worked just fine. The aftermarket mag displayed in the video was the original aftermarket mag, and not an AK mag
Yugo SKS or as was called in that country "papovka", a decent weapon.
As much as i know from my dad the Yugoslav army was partly obsessed with rifle grenades The Yugo AK47 M70 was also able to fire rifle grenades but it was not a sound design. People which used it said it would degrade the rifles accuracy quickly after firing around 10 grenades.
It's possible that powder fouling from the grenade launch could affect the accuracy depending on the type of grenade used (standard or shoot though).
The design would really have nothing to do with it as every rifle would be affected the same way. we used to use a large number of rifle grenades with our M1 Garand, but later moved to grenade launchers such as the M79.
if it's in great condition.. and when you look at it you see $400 worth of value in it.... then yes...
When I bought my Yugo models I bought them for $99 each. that was a few years ago, and while $400 sounds a bit pricey, it's also a russian version which has better collectors value, and a higher cap mag. but without knowing the model, date, condition or even a photo it's had to say what something is worth, other than is it worth it to you for that much money. it's not too far in price
im thinking about buying a chinese sks off of someone. it will be my first gun ever. do you think that is a good starter rifle and is $250 a good deal? it has a nice scope on it and is in great shape.
As a first gun yes i'd say its great for you. thats a good price especially with a scope, they are also extremely durable so you wouldnt have to worry about break downs either.
Good Video, I have an unissued 1982 Yugo M59/66. Love the gun but I clean it more than I shoot it for obvious reasons. Good info in you video. Enjoy you guns ! Take care my friend.

HollowForm222 1 year ago
I think that technically if you add a scope to an sks you are in violation of federal law unless you then also remove the bayonet and the lug. In the case fo the yugo if you remove the bayonet and lug you also have to remove the granade launcher and granade site as well as the threds for the launcher attatchment
realsamwise 1 year ago
@realsamwise - adding a scope does not change 922r. 922r does not include and verbiage on optics at all.
weaponeer 1 year ago
In this case its not about 922r. My understanding is that the sks is imported as a Curio & Relic rifle. Basically its allowed in the country because of its historical significance. Making any modifications of any kind to a Curio forfits its Curio status and once you do that you have to remove all the "evil" features or baring that do a 922r conversion.
realsamwise 1 year ago
@realsamwise - It's still fully legal and you don't need to remove anything. what happens is if you change the weapon you change the status of the weapon. so if you were to sell the weapon and the status has changed you cannot sell the weapon as a C&R, it must be sold just like any weapon at that point. now you can return the weapon to original issue then the weapon returns to it's C&R status again. (922r is required when you add any aftermarket parts to the weapon)
weaponeer 1 year ago
The ATF has stated repeatedly that in order for a surplus military firearm to retain C&R status, it must be complete and in its “original military configuration”. Otherwise, it is not C&R and may not be importable under Title 18 USC § 925(d)(3).Should C&R status be lost, the firearm would not be transferable as a C&R firearm. In addition, any remaining “restricted features” will need to be removed. The scope could only be added if no modifications to the gun where required to do so.
realsamwise 1 year ago
The issue is I think if you are using a scope that just screws on or clamps on. the ones I have seen require removal of the original receiver cover and replacing it with a US made one with the mounts. I am sure that tipe would qualify as making changes to the gun because you are removing a part. You would have to mount it directly somehow. I would say get a spare Russian made cover and use it for the scope and keep the original for when you take it off. that might pass ATF muster

what are the price ranges?
MollyTheLag 1 year ago
@MollyTheLag $150-200 for chinese/norinco (A little more in unfired or unissued state) Mostly low quality with a few diamonds in the sand. You might get lucky.
$200-350 for Yugoslavian. These have a gas piston shutoff switch to reduce recoil and "Lurching" of the gun for more accuracy at the cost of cycling the bolt with every shot.
$300-500+ for a Russian. These are reputed to have the best accuracy and reliability of all the standards, but the others *Can* be accurate.

agalloch07 1 year ago
@agalloch07 - all the sound is on one channel (aka mono). If you cannot learn anything without it being stereo you are really hurting.
weaponeer 1 year ago
@Hadesmyboa5 - you might try a search for kalinkaoptics. they have a pdf on mounting the skope mount to the receiver as well as all the parts you need to get the job done.
weaponeer 1 year ago
@Hadesmyboa5 - SKS don't not have a mouth ;) had you been paying attention you would have noticed the AK scope with the side mount. the other SKS with the Night Vision scope is custom fit for that rifle and drilled and tapped. as for the range, the Tabuk Sniper Rifle was very effective in Iraq, and it was a scoped 7.62x39 round as well. You do know these scopes have bullet drop compensator's in them don't you? the 59/66 models in the video have high velocities then other SKS's and shoot flatter
weaponeer 1 year ago
that NV sits wayyyy to high....
diazaa 1 year ago
@diazaa - large Objectives need to sit higher, just like the AN/PVS-2 and AN/PVS-4. This is a more compact version of the AN/PVS-2 and the wayyyy to high is one inch with this scope compared to your normal rifle scope of 1/4 to 1/2 inch. not so high after all.

Oh and yes, great job making your SKS worthless by mounting it on that plastic crap stock. very nice destorying any chance for resale.
Leejun85 1 year ago
@Leejun85 - Maybe before opening your mouth and making a stupid statement you should have asked the condition of the original stock. The rifle was purchased for $99 and had a fractured stock from when it was being imported. so the broken stock was replaced with one they was NOT broken. so much for your stupid resale statement moron
weaponeer 1 year ago
You handle your weapons poorly. Just because the SKS is a rugged carbine it says alot when you slam parts to get them to work. I would not let you touch my Russian. Oh and the scope is ridiculas.
Leejun85 1 year ago
@Leejun85 - Were you born stupid, or is it from huffing shit? before making additional stupid comments, ASK so you don't look even more stupid. The bayonet on the 59/66 is designed to be snapped into place. not lifted like the other models. I could not get the bayonet to snap due to my hand which is partially missing. you really do need a weapons education. and which scope would that be? there are two mounted. the Big one is a night vision scope. so there you go again MORON.
weaponeer 1 year ago
i dislike the fact that some countries that cant make their own weapons instead COPY them from Russia like China they completely copied Russian guns because they cannot think of their own guns and just work at factories were the russians make new better guns that the chinese use, in my opinion the Iraki are better at making guns without any good materials. the Chinese just copy the russian guns and call them "Type" .
blizzard249 1 year ago
@blizzard249 - in he case of China the weapon is Licensed for manufacture by China. They are not identical for many reasons. It would seem you forget that The Chinese were one of the ones who invented black powder, rockets, and the first black powder weapons. they have the ability to make anything, but when you are one of Russia allies during the cold war you use Russian made weapons for weapon and ammo compatibility. Norinco made US weapons, and China makes an M16 and the best AK drum mags

rhines215 1 year ago
@rhines215 - two options.. 1. use a short red dot scope. I have done this and it works well. 2. attach an AK style side mount and use AK scopes. this mounts the scope off to the left side of the receiver so you still have room for the stripper Clips. I have one SKS (59/66) setup as a DMR like this, and it works the best

tigerm48 1 year ago

Lol they did a demonstration dude .. it was Dr. William Atwater ... haha ... but alrighty
iTzMeThoDz 2 years ago
and you are remembering it incorrectly. at no point did he (or would he) state the purpose for chrome lined barrels is to make the powder clog up the barrel.
Dr. William Atwater would agree with me 100%.. and the reason why is the explanation you provided is asinine and has nothing to do with fact or physics.
It's been a couple years since I have seen the interview, but Dr Atwater stated his command during vietnam required that they never left a round in the chamber.
weaponeer 2 years ago
the reason is the round would swell due absorbtion of water caused by the heating and cooling of the barrel, which causes the cartridge to sweat, absorb the water and swell, as well as cause rust in the chamber, and therefore make extraction nearly impossible (due to the pits in the chamber the fired round expands into those pits, and locks the round in place
weaponeer 2 years ago
now had what you are saying been a fact, then the inside of the gas block would be chrome plated due to the powder cloging up the gas port/gas block leading to the gas tube.
now I can break this all down for you if you wish in one of my M16/AR video threads. You see I actually went to school for this stuff, used to be a consultant, spent 16 years in the Army, combat vet, and I'm a current gunsmith. And my AR collection exceeds 15. anymore questions?

weaponeer 2 years ago
Where do you get those bad-ass Russian night scopes lol ??
iTzMeThoDz 2 years ago
I used to sell them
weaponeer 2 years ago
Yeah well it was an issue with the first M16's made ... they fired the ball grain and it had a tendency to leave this powder when ignited ... So they started issuing the M16 with the chrome barrels so the powder wouldnt stick to it and clog it up !!!
iTzMeThoDz 2 years ago
The powder that was recommended for the M16 was not used, and it was changed to a very much hotter loading which was never tested or approve for use in the M16.
That powder mixed with the fact that they didn't even have cleaning kits is why the M16 jammed and got a bad reputation.
Cleaning kits were then issued, and future ammunition was switched to the approved loading.
The Chromed chamber and barrel was to prevent rusting of the bore in the high humidity of Vietnam
weaponeer 2 years ago
the chrome lined barrel has nothing to do with the gas system.
One of the dirtyest powders is Wolf. and I shoot cases of the stuff without cleaning for testing.
weaponeer 2 years ago
Chrome barrel want matter if your firing stick grain ammo that dont clog the barrel
iTzMeThoDz 2 years ago
The grain type really don't care if it's chromed or not.
If you are shooting corrosive ammo, you want the chrome chamber and barrel.

This was an old mount that required a lot of fitting before you could use it. thats why it's a nice tight mount.

I have two Chinese and Russian SKS's and they are excellent rifles. I have a Yugo but its paperweight sadly. My Yugo had a severley pitted chamber so it could not function. I'm betting if it had a chrome lined barrel it would have been okay.

I think the Brake you are referring to on the M59/66 is the stock Grenade Launcher.
Some of these have holes drilled in them, and some do not.

vnslykrx 2 years ago
What happen to the gas tube on your Tapco sks? Also what type of muzzle brake you have on that? Would you say it helps with muzzle climb? Is there any trigger work done to any of your sks's? Is there enough question marks for your ??? lol
Thirsty4stalin 2 years ago
Nice catch on the missing gas tube assy. I removed it just prior to the video to talk about 922r US made parts required when changing to the US stock, but I was running short on time and then forgot to bring it up. (my fault).
The Type 56 had a brake on it, but overall it was worthless. The Yugo's have the original launchers and no brakes.
All the triggers are stock, which means they are heavy by design. I'll have some spare time coming up and I may modifiy one for a better trigger.
weaponeer 2 years ago
Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering about the trigger because it seems a lot of people are giving positive feedback on the Kivaari's trigger job. He has his own section on the Sksboards. I been thinking of sending my trigger group to him, just never got around to it i suppose.
Thirsty4stalin 2 years ago
he gets good reviews everyplace, and I also recommend him. even the price is not bad considering the work involved.
weaponeer 2 years ago
not sure where this guy gets his facts from but a lot of them are wrong. At 300yds a 7.62x39mm round is eating the dirt. Not all Russian rifles took the removable mags, just the D. And half the time those mags didnt work right.
s197stangdragger 2 years ago
actually they are ALL 100% correct. The aftermarket mag displayed in the video was the original aftermarket mag, and not an AK mag
weaponeer 2 years ago
Yugo SKS or as was called in that country "papovka", a decent weapon.
As much as i know from my dad the Yugoslav army was partly obsessed with rifle grenades The Yugo AK47 M70 was also able to fire rifle grenades but it was not a sound design. People which used it said it would degrade the rifles accuracy quickly after firing around 10 grenades.
PanterausfG 2 years ago
It's possible that powder fouling from the grenade launch could affect the accuracy depending on the type of grenade used (standard or shoot though).
The design would really have nothing to do with it as every rifle would be affected the same way. we used to use a large number of rifle grenades with our M1 Garand, but later moved to grenade launchers such as the M79.

gamerkid1177 2 years ago
if it's in great condition.. and when you look at it you see $400 worth of value in it....
