it is the online roleplay that always made NWN great, its combat has not aged well. Can only pray Neverwinter by Cryptic will be a good game, but they have an insidious reputation so far.

Ino this game has been out for ages but I've only just thought of gettin it. Is it kind of point and click combat where you just select an enemy and wiat until u or ur enemyt dies. Or do u have more control like elder scrolls or dark messiah? Thanks in advance.
@PhantomTrigger its like any other rpg game, or i should say some...it's a take turn just like world of war craft, guildwars,etc. If your thinking about getting this game i would say yes!
@airsoft132 This game is not a "take turn" game.Pff...It's called TURN BASED. And World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars are NOT turn based games, they're MMORPGs. So if you like THOSE, don't get this because of that. Heh
@soulsingxkill My question is: Is it like Temple of elemental evil where you have to control your party in a sort of Time based combat system or can you just leave them on AI and switch control if needs be? I'm guessing the pause combat is still there from Nwn 1?
@Welcometothebrothel2 You can pause, and stack up commands for each party member, and than unpause and watch the scenery; but you don't have to pause, the AI will do it's job fairly, and you can concentrate on just one char.
@hiomioman If only bioware could have done the sequel, we'd all be happily slaughtering dragons and devastating spells just like the first. This time though, in extremely high detail ;D

hey frost... YOU SUCK. you cant wait to attack? are you really that dumb? the only time you wait to attack in neverwinter nights is when your character is at early low levels... really low levels. Or maybe you haven't played through the game long enough to get a high enough level to see what the game really looks or feels like. Some critic you are.

I DONT WAIT TO ATTACK A TARGET !! - bioware only focus on combat animation that suppose to be people's "interest" which most of the time i can even drink a coffee waiting 4 the enemy to be killed (greater level creature etc.)... that just getting a lot BOOOriiiNNNggg .....
Actually, it IS turn-based. Just not in the traditional way. Each character gets a 6-second round to make at least one action. When attacking, depending on your base attack bonus (BAB) you can make multiple attacks in that round.
This looks slower in terms of the actual battles. You get time to choose moves, etc while the game is paused? It looks like there's a lot of time to decide...
In NWN you could cast spells, scrolls, potions, switch weapons, etc but it's all real time.
Haha yeah I bought this today and so far you've got it right there.. I meen it has a cool story and that dialogue thing you can do is old but still cool.. but essentially yeah it's a (very) shiny runescape lol... not saying thats a bad thing but it sums it up as far as I've seen.. and as far as I've seen I really like it, then again I'm a RPG maniac X)
I find WoW an extremely boring game. I dont see how ANYONE can get addicted to a game like that. I play Guild Wars because it has much better PvP and soon Ill start WAR.

@darklol261 WoW created a shitty standard for MMOs, that went away from what MMOs were supposed to be and made them singleplayer games with co-op. Also fans think it's the greatest thing ever that invented MMOs. Anything that has super fans will also have super haters.
As much as I adored WoW, its true what people and psychologists say: it sucks your soul. It's the only game that really had me addicted and that I forbid myself to play half year ago, I know lots of people like this, but its INCREDIBLY difficult to leave.
Just because you have no self control, and cannot control your addictions, dont blame it on psycho-babble and the game. It depends on the person. but the fact that this is a "forbidden" game in my town (all the people I know that played, around 20 ppl, eventually got addicted and had to quit) gives me an idea that I wasn't the only one. It only sold moderately compared to run of the mill FPS's (sad but true), you must live in a massive town full of PC RPGers (were there more people who WERE NOT addicted ?

The only thing that is crappy is combat imo. You dont have the free movement as in other RPG Games. Have you ever played Champions of Norrath or something similar then you know what i mean.

Is it me, but I don't hear any sword/hit sounds, this games is not even 10% of Neverwinter Nights. It looks sucky and hard to control, I'll download it first, and Ill buy it if it's worth it.

never winter nights was launched in 1990 as an MMO (which was not overly popular) but the mmo that started a bang and started the mmo revolution was a little baby richard garriott popped out of his ass called Ultima Online...which in its prime was the best MMO ever yes ever created
NVN 2 sucked ass, lame controls, horrendous lag - only redeeming quality is the story line, but when you get to the end boss you go like OMFG I thought the 90s were over where bosses simply needed to be killed 3 times over and over. Disappointment
GW is way better than wow and its a fact not even oppinion. Raids can take up to 6+ hrs on WoW. who the fuck kind of lifeless person would want to sit at their dam computer for 6+ hrs just to get a piece of equipment. and half the time u dont even get it cuz theres 39 other ppl.
Bought it yeaterday, played it for most of the night, I was deceived by 2 things: the major lag issue, wich seems to be experienced by a lot of people, and the restictions on controls, i.e. not being able to bind mouse buttons, only keys, other then that, looks great
GW and WoW are much better then NWN...GW is probably the best MMO out...and WoW follows it....so dont say anyhing about NWN being better then WoW and GW...because the interface on gw and wow is better, the graphics are easier on the eyes....and the gameplay is way better on GW and WoW
I agree GW is probably the best MMO out but NWN is not a MMO. NWN has better game strategy, follows D&D rules, and is much more adult than WoW and GW (never seen a prostitute in GW) - also you can make your own scenarios, stories, and game plays with NWN - you can't do that with GW and WoW (you can't design your own areas can you?). For me that makes NWN better than GW and WoW. The only disappointing point is that NWN is not MMO.
If you want a grinding PVE game. Lineage 2 would be the best MMO out there (grinding PVE that's)
Also, GW isn't MMO, ITS CORPG.
The only reason you said GW got better graphic is because you zoom into half naked breast elementist which being play by a male. Everyone know horny and loney guy play GW just to look at all those elemental female breast (plays by nerdy males)
NWN makes WoW look like noddy goes to toyland. It was out long before WoW or GW was even thought of and blows both of them away. Now if that was NWN the original then I can only imagine NWN2 is going to be so far above WoW and GW that it will take another decade for them to come anywhere close to catching up again.
I am talking about WoW and GW not Everquest. And I know a shit load about GW seeing how I am a guild leader of one of the oldest guilds in the game. I suggest you learn to read carefully. The number of people who play a game has no impact whatsoever on the game. NWN is not an MMORPG it is a RPG that has an online element - you can't make your own stories and scenarios with WoW and GW - you can with NWN. NWN also follows D&D rules much more closely than WoW and GW.
and one more thing tell me why almost everyone who has commented on this video says Wow and gw is better? tell me that bud. yup exactly what i thought.
i suggest you learn abit about D&D and wow and gw, nwn is built in a forgotten realms(D&D) world, where gw and wow takes place in their own little universes with their own little lore. i play wow or gw, wont say which, would just make ppl argue even more, and i certainly plan on buying nwn2 when i can afford buying a new pc

Im never usually one to point out spelling mistakes but, "deasiese" is spelled disease.
Secondly, WoW is not a disease, in its own way it has done some great things for the gaming community. Mainly , exposing thousands of people to this great hobby of ours called gaming, for the first time. The more the merrier ya know.
on a brighter note i like the fact that theyve updated their combat system similar to knights of the old republic. if its anything like that its worth buying. but the ability to mod the game with such ease is what attracts many people to such a game. totally and completely unlike wow or guildwars in every way so dont even consider it.

Woah! I'm already blown away by this game footage. It's cool that you can have more than two character in your party and that you can control them all not like the old NVN. Heh! Looks like a re-vamp up version of Baldurs Gate. This game is gonna be on my to get list :D

Is it me, but I don't hear any sword/hit sounds, this games is not even 10% of Neverwinter Nights. It looks sucky and hard to control, I'll download it first, and Ill buy it if it's worth it.

NVN 2 sucked ass, lame controls, horrendous lag - only redeeming quality is the story line, but when you get to the end boss you go like OMFG I thought the 90s were over where bosses simply needed to be killed 3 times over and over. Disappointment

GW is way better than wow and its a fact not even oppinion. Raids can take up to 6+ hrs on WoW. who the fuck kind of lifeless person would want to sit at their dam computer for 6+ hrs just to get a piece of equipment. and half the time u dont even get it cuz theres 39 other ppl.

Bought it yeaterday, played it for most of the night, I was deceived by 2 things: the major lag issue, wich seems to be experienced by a lot of people, and the restictions on controls, i.e. not being able to bind mouse buttons, only keys, other then that, looks great

GW and WoW are much better then NWN...GW is probably the best MMO out...and WoW follows it....so dont say anyhing about NWN being better then WoW and GW...because the interface on gw and wow is better, the graphics are easier on the eyes....and the gameplay is way better on GW and WoW

I agree GW is probably the best MMO out but NWN is not a MMO. NWN has better game strategy, follows D&D rules, and is much more adult than WoW and GW (never seen a prostitute in GW) - also you can make your own scenarios, stories, and game plays with NWN - you can't do that with GW and WoW (you can't design your own areas can you?). For me that makes NWN better than GW and WoW. The only disappointing point is that NWN is not MMO.

Also, GW isn't MMO, ITS CORPG.
The only reason you said GW got better graphic is because you zoom into half naked breast elementist which being play by a male. Everyone know horny and loney guy play GW just to look at all those elemental female breast (plays by nerdy males)

NWN makes WoW look like noddy goes to toyland. It was out long before WoW or GW was even thought of and blows both of them away. Now if that was NWN the original then I can only imagine NWN2 is going to be so far above WoW and GW that it will take another decade for them to come anywhere close to catching up again.

ok buddy thats just your opinion. you obviously no nothing about mmorpgs, and you need to get your facts straight. First of all have you heard of a game called Everquest ©March 16, 1999. It's what started all these mmos, and it was the biggest at it's time and is one of the biggest now. WoW has 7 million people subscribed across the globe and no game in the 21st century can compare. I am talking about WoW and GW not Everquest. And I know a shit load about GW seeing how I am a guild leader of one of the oldest guilds in the game. I suggest you learn to read carefully. The number of people who play a game has no impact whatsoever on the game. NWN is not an MMORPG it is a RPG that has an online element - you can't make your own stories and scenarios with WoW and GW - you can with NWN. NWN also follows D&D rules much more closely than WoW and GW.

i suggest you learn abit about D&D and wow and gw, nwn is built in a forgotten realms(D&D) world, where gw and wow takes place in their own little universes with their own little lore. i play wow or gw, wont say which, would just make ppl argue even more, and i certainly plan on buying nwn2 when i can afford buying a new pc

on a brighter note i like the fact that theyve updated their combat system similar to knights of the old republic. if its anything like that its worth buying. but the ability to mod the game with such ease is what attracts many people to such a game. totally and completely unlike wow or guildwars in every way so dont even consider it.

Woah! I'm already blown away by this game footage. It's cool that you can have more than two character in your party and that you can control them all not like the old NVN. Heh! Looks like a re-vamp up version of Baldurs Gate. This game is gonna be on my to get list :D
