Canon 50mm 1.8 test

Hey man, first off I want to say what an awesome video. Well done! Second is I was wondering what you compress your video to when editing to keep the sharpness. I understand that a prime lens helps a lot but everything that I test seems to lose a lot of quality by the time I compress to 422 (HD) to edit and then export from final cut to youtube. Any tips on getting excellent quality video on youtube?

@jlumbat What i do with my videos, i just try to shoot as good as i possibly can with the camera. Then when i edit it on adobe, i make sure its in the same fps, then export it to H.264. and turn up the MBPS on the settings. thats what i did to this video, but every one i do is different. Hope that helps!

@DigitalSteeze 50mm f/1.4 is a great lens. you get 2/3 of a stop more light and better built quality but of course you pay about 300 dollars more.

@cratos828 I bought a 550D with the kit 18 - 55 mm lens. the 50mm 1.8 is a different lens altogethor. However my advice would be to play about with the 18 - 55 lens until you get a feel of what you would like to move onto next...portrait, macro, telephoto, etc, Then you can buy a second lens based on that.

@P8ntmagnit it's actually a decrease in the shutter speed. Normal "cinematic-look" shutter speed is 1/50, but if you put it at, say for example, 1/125 the moment seems much crisper. Personally, I love using this technique for action-intense scenes.

@EvanSeagraves96 i had the same problem when i was going to buy this lens, but then i saw sample photos and for the price of it, i decided to get it. i saw reviews that said it will only last a year for how its built.yeah you can tell that it feels like a toy but my aunt use to take photos when she was in her 20s and recently i went to her house and she gave me her old film DSLR with the same lens.she had it for about 15 years and it works perfectly fine. you just need to be careful with it!
