  • Thanks

  • this card costs 80 bucks now... this is a old vid guys

  • Intel Gigabit Pro 1000 PT (single port), 12 USD for used and at least same performance.

  • For non-online gamers 2-3 lower ping and 2-3 faster fps may not be worth 250$. But for online gamers, I'd pay good money for ANYTHING that can give faster net response. And BTW, I'm on a high end rig but my net is crap so a cpu and graphics card upgrade does almost nothing specially when you're just playing an old game.

  • What can i buy for 50$ ?????? good for gaming , please advice me.

  • @asacura290 use the onboard lan

  • Seriously not worth it? Have you even brothered to buy this card and try it yourself before you made a video claiming its not worth it?

Hate people who make bad reviews on products they never tried out and only go by what other people claim. Newegg had that card for like $66 bucks a week about its back to $77.00 price has came down now :D

  • @MatthewHKnight He made this video 2 years ago, the price may have been higher then

  • People really like to rant over this card, almost to the point of where they are making it sound like its a bad product. Its not, its proubly the best nic u can buy and no where do u see people saying it has bad performance or made with low quality components. The same people go and spend much more for lower latency ram for example while another product will be half the price and u cant tell the difference but they insisnt to have it, why not this? I own one and got it for $50 new, well worth it

  • upgrade ram and cpu and get decent net and router and you will see a massive difference. SCREW THIS CARD IT'S COMPLETE CRAP. u may get an extra 5 to 10 fps but really the questions u need to think about are

    1.is your video card decent?

2.is your cpu slowing down your video card?

3 find your bottlekneck and get rid of it problem fixed = :)

  • @scottman12 The Killer series cards are Ethernet Cards they are not designed to lower fps in any form the only reason the Killer does is because it has a built-in CPU so your normal CPU that does all the work doesn't have to sort out Data packets meaning less stress which leads to higher performance in games etc (Barely)

  • @XmazzX yeh but what i said is true if you've got decent Internet then u have no reason for this card at all i put an extra 2 gig ram in my pc and my lag went away for good

  • @XmazzX best comment ive seen here so far. In most the videos ive seen the killer nic varies in performance if any at all from that of standard nics. Id say the reason why people still hate the card is because its touted for gamers and for how much it originally did cost it should have provided a huge improvement instead of just a little better. Its kinda like spending extra for a cpu that runs 3.33 GHz instead of one that runs 3.06. But either way my motherboard has one. I cant tell any diff.

  • @scottman12 your a fool, you just said find your botttleneck, what happens if I have the best money can buy for every component but I'm using a pos nic. This card is crap your saying and there is something better? I think not, I know nothing performs better than a hardware nic. For $50 I bought a brand new Killer 2100, that is not expensive, this $250 must be from years ago. They are even including this nic on some videocards.

  • I love this guy@@

  • i had $100 to blow so i bought the card, saw a moderate improvement. Their "up to 10x better" you'd probably have to be on the worlds first PCI-e motherboard with like the first processor ever to see that. I saw about 5-10ms drop in ping and my games seem to load a bit faster when the maps change in bad company 2. Definitely not worth $100 but if you can't possibly upgrade anything else or you just feel the need to buy something then sure why not get it, the software is pretty neat too.

  • They charge a lot of money because like most scams, they try to fuck you over for as much possible money before you realize you're an idiot for believing something like this would help.

I'm sure it helps, but the potential help is so marginal, it puts this into scam territory.

  • Wish I saw this video before I bought mine. No matter what I do with the settings on the software, my killer1 card always seems to come out slower than my onboard, and my ping is always better with my onboard on TF2. I was expecting something good, instead I just burned a hole in my wallet for something that made no difference at all. -_-

  • Idk... Im just wondering this honestly because my computer already gets fantastic FPS. I'm more so aiming towards the networking side of things. I feel like even tho my internet speed is great... Verizon fios 25mbps down/ 25 mbps up. (tested get about 50 down/30up. I still feel like the way the network process data for the games comes in sloppy or choppy i would say. Idk was wondering if this would help keep it stable and focused better on the games. For better/quicker registration esc.

  • Correct me if Im wrong... but doesnt this card come with software that allows you to set the bandwidth of every network being proccessed on your computer... so that you can keep the priority of network processes on your games rather than anything going on in the backround? This killer 2100 NIC goes for about $70 bucks on Newegg now... wouldent that software alone be worth the price. And wouldent that software help at all with online gaming registration and so forth?

  • how does it reduce latency? isn't every 10/100/1000 network card the same?

  • @airsoftguy85rocks nope the killer 2100 wich is only like 88 buks to my knowlege it might be less now im pretty sure but the 2100 is hardcore...chek out the specs on bigfoots technologys site

  • Bigfoot killer 2100 cost 120$ and its worth it EASYILY if all you do is game like me.....worst vid you have had bud you need to address the gamers out there how much of a difference this makes

  • @deadzo24 Whatcha on about rofl? I'm running an i7 2600k rig with an GTX580 i'm a big gamer and paying for 50mb internet...I test both my onboard NIC and killer 2100 NIC and the killer was actually slower lol! I did multiple tests and setups etc etc and then sold it for £40 1 week later... :|

  • @copperkipper1 sure bud you must not play shooters or anything go back to hello kitty.

  • @deadzo24 HaHa...cod4,cod2,counterstrike,l4d 1+2, half life, TF2 sorry but ive played pretty much every formidable fps game there is...

  • @deadzo24

+ your a WoW & age of conan fan ROFL.

  • @copperkipper1 Your sad try out MOH Tier 1, Crysis. I'll leave you to your hello kitty tho, Sorry i dont argue with kids.

  • @deadzo24 Wait wait wait...I own all the crysis games...but come back to the main point Crysis wars sucks and isnt really a competative online game rofl...and MOH ranks waaaaay down there with terrible games like MW2 & blacks ops...yet it is the best out of them games.

  • @copperkipper1 ok bro you sound mad crysis is most graphic dependent game... go ahead and keep rage typing your paragraphs. good day. ^ worth the 70 bux

  • @deadzo24 And what does this have to do with the original arguement? <-- worth more than that NIC.

  • @deadzo24 Also with all this "kid" stuff... your the guy who listens to lil fucking wayne the worst "rapper" to have walked on this planet..ask yourself can he really rap? - Back to my main point IT IS NOT WORTH IT..Ask any competative gamers TEK9 is a good website (cod4) lots of players on there who would agree rofl.

  • i run intel 1000pt pro desktop adapter it work very good for on line gaming

  • 3DGM, are you autistic or something?

  • last

  • i wonder what if you already have all the other top notch stuff like the intel 970x six core procesor oc at 4gh, 2 hd 5970 ati radeon graphix cards, and other basic stuff, and you want better online gaming, is this card worth it then (damn thats a shitload of money Marcus:"more like two shitloads")

  • what if i have 300 ping online and can't go online at all is it wourth it?

    speed

    800kb/sec

    upload 64kb/sec

  • @taltigolt Your ISP downstream and upstream will bottle neck you any way, getting a better NIC wont make any difference.

  • Do not buy their network card its fake and does notthing

  • There 60$ on evga.com <--i was sold

  • IEEE 802.3 10GBaseT

  • Hahaha kick his ass rodney.....On topic i have been debating the value of this type of investment since i first saw it in a game magazine. Thank you for the scoop.

  • 1st

  • dude, thank you, i thought you were going to be diplomatic and say "yes and no", but you said no, and made the reasoning perfectly clear. legend.

  • wow 2 fucking 50 jus for that??? i thought its gonna be like 70s or something.

  • The new Xeno Pro is only $99 this guy is way off

  • the video is from mid 2009, the xeno was not available at the time of this video. I think the card on the market around then was the killer nic k1which replaced the m1, and at the time these cards where very pricey.

The xeno is only $89 at tigardirect brw..

  • @WeBelieveInChrist well this guy is also a fuckin retard, look a him.. what a joke

  • im getting the xeon ignoring all the bad comments ill come back here when i have it and post my results.

  • 've fighted 13 hours of trying massive ways to get my game connection works fully. Steam: "Steam id PENDING and kicked by console" while at LAN games. Steam cannot get server list and none of internet games loads up on server list. Browsing up all settings of modem/router box and everything is ok in there and firewall, every OS settings os properly etc.

After 13 hours uninstalled Killernic drivers, shut down PC, removed Killernic network adapter. I enabled mobo network adapter: WORKING FULLY NOW

  • im trying to figure out my problem i have a range max router and i get 288ms to a server in my country (Australia) i have a 3 gig core 2 duo and 3 gig of ram ,,the game i try to play is crysis when in single player i get 30 fps easy but i can t play online i have a 1500mbs net speed ,,so it shouldnt lag, my ps3 games dont

  • prolly online good if you are in a populated game or if u have leg problem no matter what you tried

  • they are good but dont they reudce the laod.. from the processor as in when we play cod 4 online the packets have to be processed by the cpu right soo if we get the killer nic the packets will be processed by the online. card please someone do reply to my commment,

  • From what ive read about it, the Killer NIC deals with most of the networking tasks

We have multicore CPU's now but when it comes to gaming, every little extra performance can help so I'd rather get one of those PCI cards than use the onboard LAN

  • ohh ohk thanks allot..

  • yes. it does. but is it really worth a 100 dollars? i was considering it myself a while back till i thought what i COULD be putting that 100 dollars towards.. its like an instant $100 rebate on anything $101+

    think about that.

  • I have the killer NIC m1 but with those specs I have, the killer nic does not improve anything. If you have a good cpu and gpu, then it's not worth the money.

  • i will buy one after i get my 5890

  • I got Killer M1 for $51 from Ebay, and maybe it was worth it :P

  • Price Drop on the one that was $250 aka M1 ... is now $100 less much more affordable.

  • Even if it was $100 it's still a waste, Intel sells Gigabit cards for about $30.

  • if you want the absolute best network connection with the lowest latency possible to help reduce lag during online gaming then those cards would definitely be worth it

  • no it wouldn't.

I doubt these "Killer" NIC's would improve your ping by 1ms.

  • Even if it doesn't do anything for your computer, there's another advantage this PCI ethernet card would have over onboard ethernet, it frees a little CPU time

Like dedicated sound and graphics, the Killer NIC has its own memory and processor

  • It isn't just a "network card" Its made for games... One of the best cards out there...

Been using it a month and Ran tests with 2 PCs side by side. Notice a 3 second delay on the PC without the card. That can be a big factor in games like CS.

  • Ah..bullshit

  • lol

  • my computer has 2 LAN ports why?

what do i do with them?

  • bridging connections to another computer

  • there for Lan parties. Hook one Ethernet cable in send one out to another PC.

  • if you use 2 of them at the same time 1 will be used for upload and the othere for download

  • wow man you are awesome

i posted this a month ago and haven't got the answer till now thank you

  • haha np m8 ;)

  • ur fucking dumb rofl

  • and why is that? 2 lan ports can be used for lots of things... but on most bords de default setting is to use the 2 lans wtich gives you 2x as much bandw, so you can say that 1 is for upload and the other 1 for download... becuase

    1 = 100% of the bandw

    Lan 1: 0.5 (cabel 1) + 0.5 (cabel 2)= 1

    Lan 2: 0.5 (cabel 1) + 0.5 (cabel 2)= 1

  • Not possible.

  • They are useless their prioritization is bullshit, just build a pfsense freebsd router.

  • I am building a NAS. I want to use is it as a Media sever to stream Music, and High def video for 4 HTPC. Why type of processor, who much ram, and how strong of a NIC will I need, so that there is no lagging when streaming?

  • haha. I love that an ad for killers new PCIe card ran next to this vid xD

  • lol

  • Hahaha

  • A marketing gimick, plain and simple. Unless you're using exceptional amounts of throughput (ie. transferring files over the network), the usage impact on a onboard nic is in the tenths to hundredths of 1% of cpu time. That's how relatively little data is being processed by virtually any online game whether it be fps/mmorpg/etc..

If you're getting a supposed 5 fps from this, I suggest you upgrade your pc instead.. as it would have to be ancient to benefit that much.

  • would a onboard 10,100,1000 Nic would be good for games . if your network supports 10,100,1000

  • I have a 10,100,1000 Nic and it works perfect for games!

  • Sweet i know my Notebook has 10,100,1000 Nic

  • I rather use my onboard network card!

  • I bought an EVGA Killer Xeno last week and put it on my Windows 7 RC copy... not worth it at all.. latency remained the same and I only managed to get 5 extra fps on average or so.. not worth it. It also gave me a few BSODs when i tried to transfer a few large (10GB+) files to my NAS... which pissed me off. Needless to say I'm trying to sell it

  • I bought a killer nic, £210... it didnt make a bit of difference for me - sent it back :)

  • If I had the money I'd waste it on one of these just to say I have it. Until then I'll stick with my onboard NICs.

  • depending upon what motherboard/brand, onboard Ethernet is perfectly fine, there are plenty of cheaper ways of getting more performance out of your rig

  • im using the card thats on my motherboard and my ping is normally 60-70 for servers in london, and i live in st. louis

i think my motherboard costs less then the card he was talking about too lolz

  • interesting

  • I see Rodney is on a rampage now, shooting videos like mad.

  • lol i noticed too

  • You say that like it's a bad thing. I personally like these Q&As

  • No way man, Rodney is awesome!

  • Hey Rodney thanks for answering my question and taking the time to make this video! ~Jason Leeson

  • great videos Rodeny keep them coming :)

  • What Rodney says is spot on.

Those 'gaming' network cards really are not products worth buying. Like the master says himself; why spend over $200 if for that money you can get a brand new CPU or GPU?

Even if money is no issue, it's not worth laying down so much cash on a network card which will only MARGINALLY boost performance. I'd ask myself "why not upgrade a computer component or your connection speed instead?.." At the end of the day, such cards really are not necessary.

    Think first guys

  • first comment xD erm what should i say lol. Im not into network cards but i guess if there is more internet speed i think its worth of buying

  • Woot? Why is there no ''FIRST'' comment?

  • Because "1st & 2nd comments" will result in a block.

  • You tell em Rodney xD

  • @3DGAMEMAN SUCK IT UP NOOB! 1st. depressed idiot

  • @3DGAMEMAN lol! I do the same thing on my channel!

  • its obvious nobody came in first!!

    were all second XD

  • 18 Views already :O

  • First and Rodney read my email XD. I love these q&a's they helped me tons

  • I love the Q&A sessions

  • me loves them 2
