Saw them at the thirsty whale in chicago around 89..one of the greatest shows ever..raw sexual intensity..vain trancends the genre by miles and while many bands only sang about stuff,they lived it..and was pleasantly shocked to hear em playin motorhead on their bus that night.

Damn, Vain playing at the Thirsty Whale....never will forget the first time I went there. Even though I was born in Chicago. we moved away when I was 12...but all the relatives still lived there and friends who I kept in touch with...Anyway a friend and I cruised up from Cincinnati in my 79 T/A one summer....while filling up at a gas station in Streamwood, we saw a "fellow" long hair rocker....he directed us to the Thirsty Whale...went a few times after that.

I'm from the Bay Area and got a pre-release of this album because my girlfriend at the time was the ex-girlfriend of Tommy Rickard, the drummer and she was in the liner notes. I was in another band and we used to open for VAIN at The Stone on Broadway in San Francisco -- good times.  Good times indeed.

Danny west and James scott, tom rickard and ashley mitchell, along with davy vain made chemistry together. I bought this 'cassette' in 88 when i was 17. still have it and still listen to it. It is an amazing album throughout like appetite4destuction...but thats just my opinion. One of 80's best rock bands.

Back in the day Davey Vain was barefoot for every show. I was in a band in the 80's and we did many shows w/ VAIN and Davey would fly out barefoot at The Stone in SF every time. Then walking around in all that beer and those dirty ass floors, never bothered him...
