If you come back to Oregon, i really reccomend checking out Pacific City, its by far my favorite beach.

I doubt you could find a decent hotel for $30 here anymore. There are some really crummy ones just over the bridge from south beach near the 101 that are cheap but I don't know if you'd want to stay there. I wouldn't...I see creepy people hanging out around those cheapo hotels every time I drive by night or day.

I wish somebody would take a picture of me working; then again, there's little romance in being a stalwart cube jockey. I find it refreshing to see the real face of the community rather just than the images posted in a tourist guide.

Newport's a beautiful town. I look forward to going back.

@damaco78 haha ridiculous. i have lived in newport my whole life. its not haunted. and by the way, all the tourists really get annoying and piss off the locals... so im just letting u guys know, if people are rude when you are here, especially when your on the bayfront dont take it personally, we just get sick of all the extra people...

Another fact. You are nothing but a slave on those fishing boats. A slave at the Toledo paper mill. A slave at Walmart or a slave at Fred Meyer. The Newport Police, DHS (Child Protective Services) and Courts ensure you and your family go along with "their program". Oregon is the biggest police state in the U.S. Thats why Oregon is kept in such a constant and depressive state.

Yeah. Newport commercial fishing industry is broke. Lincoln county clear cut ALL its old growth timber. Many of the small town businesses have closed. Oregon unemployment is 20% or higher. Old farts with dimentia driving (who shouldn't have a license) and the police kiss their behinds since they have money. Illegal aliens are catered to, free health services if your indian or illegal. The Newport police, court, DHS and Walmart and Fred Meyer are the only entertainment. Crap town.

Newport is a great town. I have walked back and forth through Newport and I did not see 1 drunk or sob (Besides my so-called friends, I want to kill them.)

Mark J. Miranda is not corrupt, just very grumpy at times.

The department of health and human services is very bad, as one of my relatives quit her job there because of an unstable work environment.

Don't tell people to come to Newport, Oregon. The old people here cause alot of auto accidents and the city is negligent with putting up crosswalk signs. Too many tourists are ruining the businesses.

there are a lot of tourists. I just came back from a drive from New Port. It is very crowded and hard to enjoy much with little ones running around screaming in the aquariums. but otherwise, is a very nice place to stay. :D

Travel to Mexico and bring your kids. The food is great, beaches are warm and weather is always sunny. Try Ensenada or the coast line. You will get a sun tan and have the time of your life.

Newport, Oregons little secret? Beware of DHS. (Child Protective Services) if you live here and have blonde haired, blue eyes children. They don't mind inviting themselves into your home on a simple allegation ans will build up infounded cases against parents and children.
