the motor will run much longer if you use diesel fuel or biodiesel. Veggie oil is very bad for diesel engines, It kills injection pumps and damages your compression long before the service life of the engine is met. Seriously just put b100 in it and tell people its veggie oil and they'll believe you

@derjew Dunno, so long as you don't let it get too cold there shouldn't be anything wrong with the high-purity, off-the-shelf type; in fact I've heard enough stories of it actually being kinder to engines than the mineral type. It's "dirty" oil that's already been used for cooking that's the big killer... and so needs filtering, chemical treatment etc to turn it into biodiesel before use.

@bigstrapperpete Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia. The were produced until about 1993 (JAWA 350TS & CeZet 350). I don't what's going on there now. Apparently no JAWA motors are produced now. If there are, there are only the speedway JAWAS.

@slavicchristian There are little heaters that u can put on the fuel line that warm up the veggie oil before it hits the cylinders. It is a huge helper with cold starts and all around performance.u will want to use a couple for a boat engine.

I see you'e got a centrifigul clutch set up, but no drive train yet? What do you think about getting it right with a low rev range? This is a common problem and you can end up with about 20mph top speed. cheers.

I used to put cooking oil to my old two stroke mopped instead of proper oil (when I had none) and it smelled like cooking hamburgers. No joke.

@CraigsRodCustom. The bike went the same as with proper 2stroke oil in the fuel. Even at high revs, just the hamburger smell was there. I don't know about the mix ratio, we just used to just take a guess when mixing fuel but probably more than we should have because our bikes always smoked a bit. Maybe that's why the cooking oil worked fine. Hehe, we were just kids back than, we didn't care :-)

You could run that on your waste engine oil and get free miles of riding!You may need to reduce the viscosity of the old oil,but oil that has done its mileage is pretty watery,especially with light weight modern synthetic/semi syn.Have you finished the build yet?I'd love a diesel bike.I'd build one if I could get the part,got the kit to do it,just nowhere near to get a suitable frame/motor and odd parts,my old house had a huge W/shop and loads of junkyards locally,really miss it.

Put a small blower on it. Diesel engines are no enemy to boost pressure, as they're built to handle excess pressure (compression ignition). A turbo would be more ideal, but likely wouldn't work well because of the single cylinder.

Or, convert it into a trike and put a small propane tank in there, and pipe it into the intake of the engine. As long as you could get enough air in there, you'd have one FAST trike... turn off the propane and continue to get insane mileage =D

That is one really useful machine you have there, seems like it would be suited great for both on and off road, and it funs on a dual fuel engine... WOW.

Seems to have a rather simplistic design compared to most modern bikes, so its obviously its easier to service on your own.

It's so gnarly and rugged looking that it appears to have come out of a mad max movie!

If any company starts building something like this I'll be one of the first to buy it. (Are you listening China?)

Love the bike, mate. I think diesel biking is the way forward. Unfortunately a big problem for a non biker wanting to to start diesel biking in the UK is the power is so low for the engine size despite the incredible fuel economy. The UK government restricts bikes by engine size as well as power based on petrol performance for learner bikes so anyone wanting to run on veggie-oil isn't playing on a level field. I've set up a petition about it if anyone's interested - see the link on my profile!

This engine is an engine to use for a farm tractor in Japan. An engine stops when I return an accelerator wire.

This engine is designed as constant speed use, the accelerator response is bad.

Are you all blind or something? This "bike" is going nowhere. It doesn't have a GEARBOX or any sort of transmission connecting the stationary diesel engine to the rear wheel. Unless the project is finished, the "mileage" will depend on what you had for breakfast, since will be doing a lot of pushing!!
