I don't get it !! Why can't synth makers make gear that sound that beautiful anymore ?? They are magic to listen to and play, new gear is like a naked woman under a microscope, leaves my imagination on the floor : too revealed, too detailed& too unspecial. I feel this each time I compare my new gear ( Andromeda, Prophet 08, SE Omega) to my older boys (JP8, OB-Xa, Minimoog, Arps and even my Farfisa Syntorchestra. The older stuff just inspire me more and make me want to play. Period !
@pianist007 Actually, some do. Have you looked at the price though? A quality piano still costs more than Roland and Yamaha's modeled digital pianos. Moog is offering their monophonic Minimoog Voyager with longer keys and what looks like their CP251 and VX351 plus 2 ribbon controllers for $5000. What's really needed for those who connect better with the ergonomics of the vintage gear is replacement parts of a higher quality. Many old synths need to be recapped and have power supplies redone.
@pianist007 they would if people would demand it- look at moog and dave smith who atleast are listening- specially dave smith with the build quality- the new moogs sound great but to me were compromised with plastic instead of metal and wood of the old ones- id pay an extra hundred to have wood ends a metal chasis and quality knobs- some of the speciality analog guys like analog solutions etc are also making very cool modular well made stuff so theres hope!
@pianist007 well get a gameboy. Sounds cool but when you are engineering synthesizers... stuff like this has already been done, its the future sounds that are going to be our next generations vintage
Is that because of the rotary encoders on the P08 which start to skip after a while or the weenie sound of the Lambda compared to its contemporaries the Omni, Quadra, and P5?

this was kind of pointless...
So they sound different, ok...but you could have played the riff on a casio, and it would have sounded different as well.

I think most people like the Lambda version better. It was a matter of happenstance. I was trying out my own presets.

@kennykeyboard i think he means the patch is completely different so the comparison is pointless.
