Though i have to say i really do love when the doctor when he first regenerated he has to 'fine' his personality and slowly develop into the personality! Matt smith from what i've heared will be somewhat like the 1st doctor, but since he looks young not everyone will take him seriously, should be fun to watch!

The 10th Doctor had consumed all the radiation and it was destroying him, he really should have regenerated once he let Wilf out of the booth, but he hung on to life to say goodbye to his former companions.

But was the pent up radiation that caused the doctor to fall outside Powell estate and, in the end , the destruction of the Tardis during the regeneration of the 10th to 11th Doctor.

A lot of producers of Doctor Who has a different "spin" on Regeneration.

Russell T Davies had the standing up and light and sound display, Jon Nathan Turner had The Doctor lying down with former companions speaking to the Doctor inside a LSD tripy feel.

Philip Seagal had the 7th to 8th Doctor regeneration resemble a birth of Frankenstein theme! :-)

I would imagine that Steven Moffat will have a totally different Regeneration effect when Matt Smiths 11thDoctor turns into the 12th Doctor.

Moffat wanted Tennant to stay at least one more season. Tennant was tempted, but declined. Moffat then cast Smith.

when I heard David was leaving DW, I was sad but thought: "if they get another great actor we'll be alright. They have such great scripts." But then half the old staff left as well. And somewhere between crying that this is Goodbye David and exited that we get a new start I watch it and.. well Matt just ripes of David's DW dosn't he? I was SO angry, the least he could do was go original, all the other doctor's did. I was prepered to give the "new" show a varm welcome.. it's surtenly ruined that.

The Doctor is always unstable just after a regeneration, and MS only had 20 seconds to fill the shoes of possibly the best Doctor ever.

So it's kind of hard to get a "handle" on how MS is going to mold the character. :-)

What makes you believe that the Doctor was killed during the Time War, and the Time Lords resurrected him. That would mean a reset on his regeneration cycle. Just like the Master.

Technically this is actually 11th-12th. He Still regenerated, but took the biological code from his hand to keep from changing his form. In a way 10th is right, because hes the 10th actor to take on the doctors role, but it IS 11th-12th. As after matt, there is one more doctor. Unless the final regen goes wrong and kills him, which can happen. *sadface*

Its a shame that David Tennant decided to leave as he has been an amazing doctor. Some of his later stories have been a bit iffy and not as good as the earlier ones. I hope the fans give matt smith a chance to show what he can bring to the role. Good luck to him
