The Hindu Times is the worst Oasis single ever. The demo version is a million times better than the final single version. Congratulations Noel for fucking up.
@gurudev91 Wrong. that title easily goes to Sunday Morning Call. thats the biggest fuckup Noel ever wrote. a complete fucking yawn of an acoustic song that lacks substance. least this has some swag and flash, the kind of things that made me love Liam and Oasis in the first place. check
Be Here Now is one of the great rock and roll albums of all time. The songs are memorable, the vocals are in your face, playing's tight and the production is ridiculously loud + over-the-top. Oasis made music that was eternal and what so many constipated critics can't seem to accept is that their little pet bands (like Radiohead or whatever) bore most people to death whilst Oasis continue to rock to extreme measures as every song gives birth to millions of new fans every day.
Thanks for posting, this is my favourite performance of Hindu Times. Great tune, great lyrics, band is on fire, so f&^%ing tight, and Liam's vocal and whole attitude are just timeless. I can watch it repeatedly and it never gets old.
Epic win for cute dancey girl at 0.22 - very sexy........then the camera cuts to Liam. He was DEFO thinking of something along the lines of.......well.......the same as most lads looking at this video hahaha.
the thing I loved about Oasis was their originality and willingness to "think outside the box" when it came to their sound - not simply trying to repeat the same old shite every time, for pub-rock, plodding dirge songs that all blend into one, oh no, they were visionaries, delighting the listener with each new album - a musical boundary means nothing to Oasis. True visionaries and seminal artists. What talent. Really amazing.
@Stereotype23 I'm a fan of creativity and art in any form.
Radiohead? Some stuff, at least they didn't simply repeat the same old tired ideas every album to shift a few million units to justify their existence. Oasis's first three albums were pretty much written before they got signed, which tells - the best stuff on the first, the good on the second, and the filler on the third. After that, they had absolutely nothing to write about or say and Noel knew that
@THthefirst If you knew Oasis you would know that their 4th album was actually quite experimental (for them anyway). It was the worst selling of their albums though, and that probably made them go back to the more "genretic" stuff. Be Here Now was not filler either - suffered from too long songs cause they were on drugs during the recording sessions and noone set limits. As for my language I couldnt care less - its not my first language and this is not a classroom.
@Stereotype23 I do know Oasis and own pretty much everything they've realised. To call SOTSOG experimental is nonsense, because they simply either ripped off their own songs (Go Let It Out) or copied other artists - eg. The Doors' Roadhouse Blues for Put Yer Money..... Even Who Feels love is Stone Rosesesque. This isn't innovation or experimental - it's a tired band lacking in the confidence that once made them truly great. RIP Oasis and RIP rock and roll
@THthefirst Loved "Be Here Now", yes they were kind of blitzed throughout but the songs are timeless from start to finish. It's actually my favourite Oasis record although "The Masterplan" (yes I recognise that it's a collection) and "Familiar to Millions" are tied for 2nd favourite. However songs like Roll it Over, Where Did it All Go Wrong, Shock of the Lightning and of course Hindu Times just worked for me, thought they were brilliant even if the albums as a whole weren't as good...
@ApparentlyNigel Actually, there are a lot of other bands who have more talent and have had a greater influence on music than Oasis. Oasis's first couple of albums were important, but the rest of their stuff is pretty average.
I'd suggest - if you haven't already - expanding your musical awareness - check out the Stone Roses and Smiths, for instance, both bands that massively influenced Oasis and who, unlike Oasis, have stood the test of time better.
@THthefirst Both are worse than Oasis imo. And Stone Roses has definetly NOT stood the test of time better on any standard. The Smiths are a total different experience and I wouldnt event try to compare the two.
@Stereotype23 With respect, your opinion is irrelevant. I am going on the legions of other artists (including, incidentally, Oasis) who adore the Roses and Smiths and cite them as huge influences. I am also going on repeated critics' polls - where the Roses in particular score very highly. The fact you like Be Here Now era Oasis kind of shows your taste, which is why you don't/can't appreciate really good music. You probably think Oasis are better than Hendrix, Dylan, Stones, Who too.
Oasis regularly top polls with the first two albums. The Roses made 1 great album. Oasis made at least 3 IMO. Including the b side album. How many repackages and issues of the self titled LP are The Roses gonna do?. Let's face it, it's all they're good for.
@yesyesohyay10 That's true - the Roses did one truly great album, some good B sides, and that was that!
That said, the Roses' musical ability was light years ahead of Oasis's - come on, just look at the muscians, their influences....Oasis are plodding, four by four rock and could never have written Waterfall, Resurrection, Fools Gold etc. Without the Roses, there would be no Oasis - not my words, but Noel Gallagher's.
@THthefirst I've forgotten more music than you've ever heard, you peanut. My aunt gave me my first 45s: "Maybe Baby" by Buddy Holly, "Rain" b/w "Paperback Writer" by the Beatles,+"Sloop John B" b/w "You're So Good to Me" by the Beach Boys. It's rubbish to assert that a few great songs by The Smiths or Stone Roses comes close to the 15 years' work of Oasis, which while definitely uneven at times, ranks with The Who, The Kinks, David Bowie, T-Rex and Big Star in lasting influence. Period.
@ApparentlyNigel Ah, the arrogance. You see, what you state is not fact, but merely your opinion. You have no idea how much music I have heard because you know nothing about me. To claim Oasis are as influential at the Roses or Smiths is illogical because Noel has said on record he was influenced by them in the first place. By definition, therefore, those earlier bands will always be more influential on that basis alone. Oasis - good but very derivative. Roses/Smiths - innovative.
@THthefirst So the Beatles were probably more inspired by musicians of their time? So you go to say they are more innovative then the Beatles? No one just goes into music without inspiration son. At least to go on to be good.
@Stereotype23 Isn't the fact that Oasis are more worried about sales than creating anything remotely original, interesting or challenging kind of prove my point?
@THthefirst Does music, in your opinion, have to be original and challenging to be good? I can come up with a lot of shit music thats both orignial and challenging. Whether its interesting or not is definetly not a question of "facts" but very much a question of opinion.
And to blame them for being worried about sales i kinda stupid, as that goes for almost any band in the world. Sales = people actually want to listen to your music (god forbid it!).
I love this video so much. everything is soo cool. Liam looked really hot. I never realized how good someone can make the tambourine look. I always thought it such a useless instrument.
(and i totally wish i was that girl that y'all kept talking about. very cool )
i'm not sure but i think the girl with white t-shirt in 1:48 is the same girl in the concert ( berlin 2002 ) ,she must be a great fan of oasis for following the band like this !!!!
Absolutely re the intro, Buckley, , but then carrying on into the song — fuck — that drum line and the bass work GREAT....chug chug thwhack! chug chug thwhack! A fucking locomotive.
This was the Last good Year for Liams Voice! A combination of his front teeth getting knocked out and not caring for his vocal chords put an end to his voice after 2002-03. He is still the shit though!!! Live Forever!
Way better intro than the original, how the drums and guitar work together, but that girl at 0.22...I wish for her to die. She bugs me to no fucking end.
i really hope he does come back but my heart felt feeling says he wont :-( , and liam has made a statement to say he is not continuing without Noel, i feel empty, no more OASIS gigs to look forwards to. but as quoted by liam " nothing lasts forever" and they started OASIS and they ended it. wish them all the best for the future and i will certainly be buying tickets to watch Noel if he does embark on a solo career.

@PAULFC93 you're right, noel won't be the same without liam's singing - he'll be better. noel is a far better singer and i respect him FAR more cuz he actually fucking writes the songs (both musically and lyrically).
man this has "THE WHO's" vibe in this song!! noel gallagher is a genius with the way his les paul sounds in overdriven tone awsome rock n' roll song!!!
This was the perfect way to come back from SOTSOG. It was a good album but it didn't have the Oasis vibe. This song & album certainly did. A great return to form.

@PAULFC93 you're right, noel won't be the same without liam's singing - he'll be better. noel is a far better singer and i respect him FAR more cuz he actually fucking writes the songs (both musically and lyrically).

@PAULFC93 Paul, you hit the nail on the head, amigo! Your statement says it all. Oasis rocks. Liam does Noel's like Daltrey does Townsend's....

yes well said there, its clearly the best Oasis song from the last 9 years, extremely under-rated. It makes you wanna start smashin' stuff up!

This was the perfect way to come back from SOTSOG. It was a good album but it didn't have the Oasis vibe. This song & album certainly did. A great return to form.

Oasis is confident music. they dont have a single song AS confident as The Hindu Times. Its just the shit
