@Saladmints You need to go to the west wing of Troia castle, then talk to Edward. He'll give you whisperweed, which wil allow you to beat the Dark Elf.
LISTEN UP EVERYONE!!! You need to go to the left side of Troia Castle and talk to Edward in the infirmary, he gives you Whisperweed, THEN, you go fight Dark Elf. Only using physical attacks till he uses Fira on you, then kill him in the following battles! Oh btw, Tellahs Firaga is very nice as well as Yangs 3x focus + attack, Cecils sword deals holy damage which is also good. Cid is well... Cid. GOOD LUCK!!!

I can't beat that damn Dragon!!!!!!! he always take out 2 party members with dark breath (something like that i think, i have the french version). Dark Elf was easier than him!!! ughhhh... maybe because if my team:
cecil : lvl 24 (i wanna punch him in the face!! if i knew i had to restart from lvl 1 cecil, i would have never trained so far before -,-'')
Cid: lvl 23 (can't they give some characters whose levels are a bit high!!)
Yang: lvl 27
Tellah: lvl 29 (damn him!! his HP is soo downnnnn!!!)
FF IV, to me, is way more Mystical and Fantasy-ish than any other FF before and after it. The music and sounds are what make it that way for me and is the reason why FF IV is one of my favorite FF's of all time.
I fought this thing for like an hour (had Tellah use Blink so my teammates wouldn't get hurt and casted float so quake wouldn't get us and used osmose to get an infinite amount of MP) until I realized I had to get the whisperweed from Edward. What a waste. In theory I could've fought this thing forever.
@taipan686 if your overleveld up the ass like in the mid and late 40s i had to level up to 35 for all of my characters (tellah level 32) and it was still a bitch and a half

@animelink1234567890 you have to find edward the weakass harp player (remember him?) and talk to him and get the whisperweed from him. It will revive you, but once you get it, don't use it until you die. It's used automatically.

@clubpenguinfeetfeet You should head to an island where there is a small portion of mountains and a small town called Agart, then when you spot a well, throw the magma rock there and you'll gain access to the underworld by airship.
@clubpenguinfeetfeet its easy to get to, first go to the chocobo forest north of troia, get the black choco and fly abit of south towards troia but for alittle and then head east and look in the mountains for the cave
@clubpenguinfeetfeet Lodestone cavern is located north east of Toria, you head north into the chocobo forest, then you talk to the black chocobo and head east.
If you need more details, when you get your airship at baron head north west, the large fields of forest is the land of Troia.
Do this go to The Castle in Troia Find Edward then go to Lodestone Cavern fight the Dark Elf/ Dragon then Just use attack then he will hit you with Fira ur party will be dead then there will be a Talking scene Edward's harp will save you then FIGHT HIM afterwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was by far the best RPG ever.. I didn't even know it got remade for the DS.. nice to know younger generations can now appreciate it, few other RPGs really made you care about the story like this one did.
The first time I fought the Dark Elf I died and went to Game Over due to Quake.
So the second time I kept casting float on my guys and doing Firaga and reviving whoever he killed in one hit. I spent like 2 hours and a shitload of ethers, and now have no mana so I'm just surviving on Phoenix Downs....
And he STILL won't die!!!! Then I see I'm supposed to find Edward first... Sigh.
Odd. The very first thing I did in this fight was silence the boss. Luckily, status effects actually work in this game.
I had Yang focus through the entire elf fight until the dragon showed up, then had him drink Bacchus's Wine as Cid used Spider Silk. Meanwhile, Tellah was casting Firaga while Cecil was covering him. I don't know; it just seemed like an easier way to beat it, in my opinion.
See, what you need to do is go the second path to the right of Troia, and continue on to the circular little patch of forest. There, catch a black chocobo and go to the island in the east.
It's a little easy to miss this, but you learn this little tidbit from the guy in the black chocobo stables.
You need WHISPERWEED. You get it by talking to Edward in the infirmary. To get there, you need to go through the bottom-left passageway in Troia Castle, in the room before the Epopts.
The dragon keeps buttfucking me and I can't beat him. Does the 7854 hp start after he transforms into the dark dragon or when you first start fighting again? I know I'm getting close, but just when I want to hit him with another 2000+ firaga, he kills Tellah...it pisses me off!
@DYvideos yeah i had this same problem to save you some trouble when he does his reflection spell just toss an elixer at him i didnt want to resort to this but i was getting fruastrated one hit with that and hes dead try it
@MegaCloud666 The reason you get a game over is because you need to first head to Toria castle and speak with Edward, he gives you the whisperweed which allows for the cutscene where he helps you negate the magnetic field so you can then use your weapons.
I play the PSP version. It's a WHOLE lot better.

OMFG,
The first time I fought the Dark Elf I died and went to Game Over due to Quake.
So the second time I kept casting float on my guys and doing Firaga and reviving whoever he killed in one hit. I spent like 2 hours and a shitload of ethers, and now have no mana so I'm just surviving on Phoenix Downs....
And he STILL won't die!!!! Then I see I'm supposed to find Edward first... Sigh.

all you have to do when the dark dragon comes up is use tornado with tellah and then when you hit the dragon he'll die instantly

he doesnt even use a fire spelll on me he hits me one by one for 9999 by waving his arms and edward doesnt do anything wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Odd. The very first thing I did in this fight was silence the boss. Luckily, status effects actually work in this game.
I had Yang focus through the entire elf fight until the dragon showed up, then had him drink Bacchus's Wine as Cid used Spider Silk. Meanwhile, Tellah was casting Firaga while Cecil was covering him. I don't know; it just seemed like an easier way to beat it, in my opinion.

See, what you need to do is go the second path to the right of Troia, and continue on to the circular little patch of forest. There, catch a black chocobo and go to the island in the east.
It's a little easy to miss this, but you learn this little tidbit from the guy in the black chocobo stables.

For those who just get game-overs:
You need WHISPERWEED. You get it by talking to Edward in the infirmary. To get there, you need to go through the bottom-left passageway in Troia Castle, in the room before the Epopts.

The dragon keeps buttfucking me and I can't beat him. Does the 7854 hp start after he transforms into the dark dragon or when you first start fighting again? I know I'm getting close, but just when I want to hit him with another 2000+ firaga, he kills Tellah...it pisses me off!

@DYvideos yeah i had this same problem to save you some trouble when he does his reflection spell just toss an elixer at him i didnt want to resort to this but i was getting fruastrated one hit with that and hes dead try it

loll when i tried this, i casted reflect on all my party and his spells were deflecting and doing like 4000+ to him =P
except, yeahh i was kicking his ass but then a speech thingy came on and said 'its hopeless', alhough all my people still had full health D: lmaoo

@MegaCloud666 The reason you get a game over is because you need to first head to Toria castle and speak with Edward, he gives you the whisperweed which allows for the cutscene where he helps you negate the magnetic field so you can then use your weapons.
