I'm a little bit mad about this video. I understand it was an assignment, but if I had done the assignment I would've showed the cliches of Autistic behaviors and THEN the other sides of it. There are very nice and positive things also that make things absolutely wonderful.
I'm mad that in the video it seems like the boy isn't the smartest. Lots of Autistic people are the smartest on Earth. I'm missing that part in the video.
To me the assignment is ok but not fully accomplished. Sorry
@roadflyer1982 I agree. It makes me mad that he doesn't close his mouth. Open mouth makes him appear idiotic and that's not my view of people with autism.
I think, the effect and relevance of this film is not too high! Why? The boy isn't autistic, his view and his movements (with the pencil) are not autistic (he only pretends), so one does not get the deeper notion of autistic functioning. Most of all the inner representation is not autistic, so one is more reminded to normal persons. But what the film fails most, is reach any understanding of autism! Why? Nobody can understand this repet. behavior, nobody will get a positive view an autists
This video is good, but at the same time not all autistic children or teenagers act like that. I most certainly don't and never have. That almost made it look like mental retardation.
please tranlsate in english. my english is too bad ..
2 crayons are the other way round in the end of the clip. Ocassionally is it one crayon (dark blue or black, I can't recognize on screen) and after the cut are the yellow and the red crayon the wrong way round(?).
Partly the clip is extreme, partly exact the details I pay attention to are ignored (e.g. direction of the crayons). The part with the loud clock is well depicted.
Sorry for mistakes.
@cant.: Ich hoffe, ich habe dich richtig verstanden.
I woulnt let my pens lie around as that i would order them in a straight line all in the same direction orderd by the harmony of colors but acctualy while working thew will probably anyway get in a bad order so at the end i would order them again before starting i would check if the tip is nice an need.
I would have made you redo the assignment. It's is not representative for Autism at all !! If you watch my videos (about 80) you will notice that Autistic people don't have this dead expression on their face ! And I can definately draw much better than that !!!! And I certainly don't repeat myself all the time. You have acted like an idiot instead of an Autist.
I love this Clip siden flere month, because I had a time some child, I couldn't not say, what I wan't, what I not wan't, what I need, overalt noise, but I couldn't say stop. With over 30 years old I can say it, but when people touch me I can't say stop, so long I couldn't say it, I have no training for that and I live in min own world, I have lot of typisc Autistic klischees. God Job for you Projekt!!!
(this commentary aplies also for the 2 persons above)
This film was an assignment for school. We had to picture one person without sound. That person was based on the clichees of an autistic person wich most people now of. We had the help of a woman who works with autistis people. So yeah: there are a lot of clichees, but that WAS our goal
I made some films about autism too, who are full of clichées. That is nothing bad in the first place, but if I where you, I would really mention it in the side bar, so that that is clear for the people who whatch it.
good. Not very convincing thought, but I liked it. I would see it as a shorter video with a quick cuts and an actor moving much slower- that would give more fell to it. Just my thought. 4stars
radiohaud mentioned less static noise (hiss) but I enjoyed the sharp changes between the different types. Also, the reverberating pencil sounds were beautiful. Spydyee mentioned the disarray of the pencils but it was clear that your character touched them until they were right for him. That was good.
I liked it. You can tell by the actors eye movements that he is not autistic. ...but I liked the feel. You can also see into the mind of an autitic boy in Troy's Amazing Universe
If your intent is to portray an autistic person from their perspective then I agree that the static noise needs to be enhanced inasmuch as most of us have a hypersensitivity to sound. Also many of us would never allow those pencils to be in such a disarray on the table.
When you are looking for something to do with yourself before adding the next piece to the drawing try lining up the crooked pencils cause they are driving this autistic nuts. Not all of us are this obsessive but when it comes to my writing workspace I am so I hate to see the pencils laying in a pile. Dishes go in piles pencils go in lines.
ok that was to prove that we autistics have (even if it is off center a little) a sense of humor. The video is an interesting portrayal of an Autistic person. Not bad for where you are in school. I don't know how much time you had to create this but I would suggest a little more study on your subject matter would lend to you making a more productive movie. They didn't throw Lord of the Rings together overnight.
Hi, thank you for your comment:). I get that you are an autist yourself? I'm feeling flattered by your coomment since it is from an autistic person's view:).Your right about that we have should study more on the subject, but it was for a quick assigment. So unfortunaly we didn't have the time..
There are a couple of reasons why we decided to use this noise.. For instance, it was a first year assignment so we didn't thought about the audio but just about the mise-en-scene:).
