How is the Teabagger Joe Miller going to legislate on the No Pork, No Earmarks, platform when that is what Alaskas favorite Ted Stevens was famous for and why he was loved in Alaska?
No, "Teabagging" wasn't coined recently, it's a perverted, sicko sexual practice that I will demur from describing due to the potential presence of kids.
Scott McAdams actaully grew up in Petersburg, the same town I did...and I'm sure he's a good guy and all (Most people in Alaska, regardless of party, are decent people)
But once he gets to Washington and the leadership takes him into a "Play ball with us if you want to stay" meeting (see "the Distinguished Gentleman")
Then all bets are off. As a Democrat, even if he's a so-called "conservative" Democrat, he'll be expected to toe the party line, or no re-election funds will be coming his way from the Democrat party in six years.
@RedwoodThe He is still the best option. My point was that if Joe MIller and the Tea Party's platform is No Pork and No Earmarks how is he going to legislate?
Alaskas favorite senator Ted Stevens was the posterboy for pork spending that provided jobs in Alaska. McAdams wants to use the money for developed resources in Alaska for wind energy. Something that employs more people than coal now.
@RedwoodTheElf No it is not a silly idea. There is a company that makes small rooftop wind generators that said that artic weather stations in Alaska use them. It is possable and the sooner they get them built the better.
I personally know 3 people from Alaska that live in the Bay Area here that told me Alaska Politics is diffrent than here. There are things that the left and right agree on that they don't agree on in the lower 48.
What else we need to show to demonstrate that the GOP/Tea Party are TOTALLY anti-Americans. Against the HC bill for 9/11 first responders, against tax cuts for the small business, against subpoena BP and put them under oath, against Financial reform, against elimination of pre-existing conditions, against investing money to move ecomomy, against education reform killing the public schools and finally against a bill to stop job outsourcing even if the companies got 2 years tax exemptions.
Joe Miller is just another Republican welfare queen. Miller's taken loads of government cash for his farm. Miller even scammed the system back in '97: he was making $70,000 a year as a lawyer, but instead of paying fifty-five bucks for a fishing license, he duped officials into thinking he was dirt-poor and they let him have a license for just five dollars.
@dizzymasekela Joe Miller is only the latest in a string of Republicans who benefit from government funds then turn around and criticize the government for the programs that brought them those funds.
If you're referring to farm subsidies, the government intervention in agriculture completely distorts the market, by design. If you refuse government subsides or payments to NOT grow food, you put yourself at a competitive disadvantage and may not even turn a profit.
Not really. Like Rachel Maddow, I think the Democrats are wrong to be running only locally: fight the Republicans nationally as well as this (not a bad ad) for what they stand for (tax cuts for the rich, privatizing social security, medicare, etc). Don't run from the record of achievements against obstructionist Congress, either.
Increasing taxes on employers never created a single job.
"privatizing social security, medicare, etc"
They're about $100 trillion in the hole, thanks to the socialists. They're completely unfunded. There's no trust fund and both programs are running deficits.

That amount of wealth simply does not exist to be confiscated. Of course this doesn't even take into account the cost of Obamacare.
inform the public who you are. Stay positive and don't make scurrilous attacks against your opponents. Use humor - laugh at yourself. Use light, friendly music, none of that scary, intimidating crap.
Thanks for putting out a fun, refreshing ad - now go out there and win!!!
Hmm, I didn't hear one word about How McAdams would help create a job, balance the budget, save the Dollar, stop illegal immigration, end foreign military adventures, or restore the Bill of Rights.
Hmmm..you know, you're absolutely right. Hopefully McAdams will address those issues in future ads.
In the mean time, I hope Alaskans will see the current ad, and be curious enough to use 'The Google' and find their way to scottmcadams(dot)org. The ISSUES tab will give them lots of information about his positions.
The Bush/Obama socialist agenda has been proved to be an utter and complete failure. A vote for Pricness Murkowski or McAdams is a vote for Bush/Obama.
Yes, Bush was a socialist. Creating a new medicare entitlement is socialism. He had a fetish for big government, at home and abroad. But as fiscally irresponsible as Bush was, Obama went ahead and quadrupled the last Bush deficit (the largest) in his FIRST year. He's added more to the national debt in 20 months than Bush did in 8 years.
Obama = Bush on steriods.
Beck is a Zionist Neocon, just like Bush, but he's more fiscally conservative than Bush.
@fubecabr No, see, when the economy is good the government should pay off the debt, while when the economy is bad the government actually has the option to borrow against itself in order to help get the economy back on its feet. But Bush just kept on growing the deficit when the economy was good.
That's like the grasshopper not only gathering no nuts for the winter, but even eating through his reserves. What can he do during wintertime?
In theory, I agree. In fact, the government should spend more on infrastructure programs and public goods during downturns because it would get better bids. But with the current tax structure, political structure, entitlement structure, and military industrial complex, this is impossible.
Bush deficits reduced in size every year from 2004 to 2007. But the problem was two fold, spending increased faster than the economy, and the upturn was completely debt-based.
We spend more on the military than the rest of the world, combined. There's only 2 good reasons to go to war, one is to defend/enforce the Bill of Rights and the other is to repel invading armies. War for any other reason is a racket.
With entitlements, there simply doesn't exist enough wealth to confiscate to fund the promises.
The national debt is also a huge problem. If interest rates return to historical norms, nearly all of our income taxes will go towards servicing it.

It's mathematically impossible to fund the promises that entitlements currently make.

Great spot. Totally authentic, totally positive and totally not down in the muck getting negative. I came here looking for some red meat about Miller and his crazy thoughts about ending SS et al, but I think this is a better path.

@RedwoodTheElf Yes it was Fox News Griff Jenkens that coind the term "teabagging" as their activity of chioce.
Go look it up. I don't think that they sould be using that word as well.
My point is that Scott McAdams is the most Pro-Alaska canidate in this race.

Wind energy? In Alaska?
As someone who's lived up there, I'd have to say that's the silliest idea ever.
1) Alaska is very mountainous...no big flat plains with lots of steady wind.
2) No Roads...are you going to build roads everywhere so you can build....
3) No transmission lines. You'd need to build roads everywhere to build power lines to move the electricity, and finally:
4) Harsh winters. Do you have any idea what temperatures of 50 - 60 below zero do to machinery like windmills?

If you would like some real Norwegian cursing, take a note of this: Nå må du for hælvete komme deg ut, din forpulte trekuk!
I am pretty sure my countrymen can come up with a number of alternate swearing words in Norwegian, if you want ;D
