  • Ironically just after waching this video,(& posting the comment below) I went to check out the huffington post news (on AOL) & there's a story about a 61 year old woman who drove her car down a snowy median wile suffering a diabetic condition,A fire chief described the condition as "your eyes are open, you're wide awake, but you don't realize what's going on around you.".....HMmmm...Aunt Diane??? ..Hit "THAT" up with a chug of Vodka & u REALLY won't know WTF's go'n on around U!.. MISTERY SOLVED

  • Tragic, my prayers to all the family's involved. I believe she was drunk & High, the medical reports proved it...The question WHY is what remains a mistery, to calm a Toothache, etc. Only God knows WHY she decided to do what she did or WHAT was wrong with aunt Diane....another question would be WHAT was wrong with the second driver? (NOT BLAMING HIM) But how do u not see a car coming straight at U when u should be looking straight ahead? ...KEEP UR EYES ON THE ROAD PEOPLE, drive DEFENSEVLY!!!

  • Marijuana can be very powerful. It was called getting a "bad head". It happened to me in the 1970's when I smoked it at a party given by my boss. I was totally screwed up for 2 weeks. I felt there was no head on my shoulders, and that time was stuck at 11:55PM. My wife, a severe epileptic had to drive us home. They laid me on a bed before we left and I remember looking out the window, seeing the moon, being glad that I was still on the Earth. This woman may have had such a dose at the

  • @boilerplate7 The effects of Marijuana do not last nearly that long. If you were seriously that twisted for that amount of time then it was probably laced with something. Your boss is an asshole.

  • This just came on HBO and I watched the first 10 minutes and changed the channel. I don't need a documentary to know that women can't drive.

  • They said she called her bro, "Danny" which is her husband. Maybe losing it over finding out of an affair?Trying to tell bro ABOUT Danny? They never said WHAT she actually said & she initiated the call that time!

  • Another thing I would like to know. Diane DID reach the sis in law (mom of 3 kids) and she called cops saying Diane was not herself and acted confused on the phone, but that call she is talking about lasted 2:15 minutes. Did she just garble words and not make sense AT ALL? Surely she got a COUPLE sentences out. Con'd

  • For alcohol impairment and driving on the wrong side of expressway, see Carollton KY bus crash. Larry Mahoney survived, killed 27 on church bus, mostly children. Served his time quietly, admitting guilt and remorse & now trying to live in obscurity. Shows booze will do this to you. Pot, I don't know but it sure as hell didn't help. I too think she did it on purpose from something her sick hubby did. She lost her control that she had to have. To kill her neices?Mabye affair w/their mom. Revenge.

  • I'll tell you my theory after watching this doco. Diane had recently suspected of her husband playing around with someone - probably the blonde sister in law. When she was in the van with the kids they were all talking about suspicions (innocently) and Diane then decided (as she was an ex fat kid, quite plain woman and control freak) she would end it all as her life was over due to her horrible husband fucking around! Notice the husband and sister in law are together A LOT! That is my theory.

  • This movie it was so sad especially when the letter was read from the mother of her nieces that were killed I just couldn't stop crying!

Her husband needs to give it up she was under the influence and he knew she smoked weed because if you notice his story changes in the movie several times: First she would never smoke weed, then she might have smoked, then she smoked occasionally if she was stressed.

  • i just love how america loves to sue for everything. not enough signs letting diane know she was going the wrong way on an exit ramp? faulty van?? oh my god, please. stop. pleeeease stop.

  • I just watched this a few days ago on OnDemand.... I have to say that it seems that Mrs. Schuler was under the influence while she was driving, it was her fault

  • She was driving. She was in control. It was her fault. End of story.

  • I just watched this documentary,

I see the husband is in denial that Diane did this, I lost my best friend to suicide and I was in denial to, me and all the family kept trying to come up with reasons,...I will say Majuana and Alcolhol may have eased the decision or played a tiny small role in it, but that did not kill her, She obviously committed suicide. Its hard to believe she brought her kids and neices into it, but they happened to be with her when she just snapped...

  • Its amazing how the hubby& sis talk about her but they want to convince US she wasn't in the least bit capable of taking liquor & weed. Do I think she meant to do it? No. But I think she was an undercover addict & got way too comfortable with her habits around the kids. Bottom line, the message is ppl need to slow down. U have 2 be healthy 4 your family. So many women dnt address the stress & mental toll raising kids/work takes on the human psyche.

  • What I gathered from watching this docu is Diane was a control freak & perfectionist. She either drank/smoke weed behind ppl back to keep up her mom of the year apperance or I suspect the hubby knew& feels resentful he has to share her tragic legacy so he's trying to deny the obvious to clear his consequence. None of HER participated in this nor have they joined this mission to "clear diane's name" so that speaks volumes to me.

  • When we continually justify bad behavior like smoking marijuana when it is illegal to do so by making excuses like "its not as bad as alchohol" or "Its natural" or "there is a medical reason" we ALL know its because people want to relive their drug culture of youth and rationalize...like her family is doing.

Dope smokers, heavy dinkers, fake medical use of marijuana ALL are reasons why this world is becoming a bad place. Fcuk YOU DOPE SMOKERS...PLEASE..ALL OF YOU DIE.

  • @AmericanKnowItAll3 You sir are completely fucking stupid. Marijuana has been shown and proven to have dozens of medicinal properties and can be used as a medicine that is safer then pharmaceuticals. Marijuana has never EVER been the correct cause of death. Im not surprised if your retarded self hasent seen that it was SUICIDE. That or plain her being stressed/fucked up emotionally. And yes, the arguement alcohol is legal is perfectly rational. It is proven to destroy liver function,

  • @AmericanKnowItAll3 and over time slowly kill you. And you can overdose and kill yourself easily. Marijuana overdose takes several thousand grams smoked within a certain time limit which is impossible for any human without actually suffocating themselves. Marijuana is an ABSOLUTE harmless PLANT. People with low IQ and resistance to research and medical evidence are destroying society.

  • @AmericanKnowItAll3 And the fact most of your comments are personal attacks right off the bat and telling people "PLEASE..ALL OF YOU DIE." tell's people how immature and empty your argument actually is.

  • what a terribly sad tragedy. it's sad to watch her family waste so much money trying to disprove the truth. the fact will always remain that she was driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and i'm sure this was not the first time she did it with children in the car. i think her husband is feeling guilty because they probably got high together and then he sent those kids to their deaths. so sad.

  • What I wanna know is if there was half a dozen calls to 911 why the fuck weren't the cops out there trying to stop her before the accident. This could have possibly been prevented.

  • @LetsPlayTheSims There was no way this could have been "prevented." There was a blind drunk and stoned woman, both hands on the steering wheel, staring straight ahead, speeding into the oncoming traffic. Who could have stopped THAT? If there had been a dozen cops right there they wouldn't have been able to stop her. Nothing would have stopped Diane Schuler.

  • @cynthiacher True, but the police could have done a lot better damage control. If I remember correctly, one highway patrolman caught Diane hunched over next to her car at one point before the accident. If he'd done his job and maybe stopped to check on her (because even if he didn't suspect drunk driving, vomiting on the side of the road could mean a serious health condition is happening) then it might not have happened...

  • The pain thing and "Mommy's head hurt" was implanted to try to give an excuse to what happened other then she was high/intoxicated. If she was in that much pain, she only had a 35 minute drive to get home, why not call someone to say I can't drive, too sick. The first thing that jumps out to me is that he says "My wife was perfect" No, sorry, no one is perfect...Second, he never pushed her about her "issues" with her mother...maybe he was just a disconnected husband who failed to pay attention..

  • They tried to create sympathy for Diane in this documentary. What about sympathy for the children and the 3 men she killed with her decision to drive drunk and high. Yes , she was drunk and high!! Her family is in denial because they see her as a working mother who handled everything when , in fact, she was a functioning alcoholic. Excusing away the horrific choice she made to get behind the wheel of a car with children in it is aweful. Those children deserved better.

  • if you really watch this video, Diane pulls out into traffic so much that she has to put her brake lights on while out in the street. Doesn't anyone else see that? At the very end she does pull out into traffic.

  • Comment removed

  • the whole "pain theory" came in to play by Diane Schuler's husband!!! the things that were proved were done so by the toxicology reports.. her blood alcohol content was over 2 times the legal limit.. she had marijuana in her system that showed she smoked it about 15 to 30 minutes before the crash. those are the cold hard FACTS of this case..not some BS "pain" story made up by the husband to help him deal with the grief and the fact his wife killed herself and 7 others.

  • I think Diane was a stubborn perfectionist and was drinking while driving but the alcohol didn't kick in until later. She was destined to get everyone home cause she had to prove she was a perfect mother. I think she knew what she was doing and just wanted to finish her duty of the day. As for her lazy husband, he obviously made her do everything and she just couldn't ask for help. All this tragedy just to prove how much of a super mom Diane Shuler was!

  • I really believe that Daniel knows MUCH more than he is telling. Life wasn't as perfect, or even as "normal" as he wants it to appear. I pray for the Hance family, and for little Brian.

  • She OBVIOUSLY WAS drunk & high, toxicology doesn't lie, and autopsy showed NO stroke, etc.I just think it is strange that she doesn't *appear* to be drunk/high until the last hour to hour & 1/2. Most people can't fake being THAT drunk & high. So, it would *seem* that she started drinking/smoking during that last hour or so. But again, WHY? HOW could a supposed "great mother & aunt" make such a HORRIBLE decision? If it was pain/sickness, why not call 911? Why was her phone left at the toll plaza?

  • I've watched the doc. a few times now. If you pay attention to witness accounts & the timeline, doesn't seem as though she left campground drunk/high. Owner of the campground, McD's cashier, & gas station clerk say she did not appear to be drunk. She does NOT appear to be drunk in the gas sta. video. But, during the last hour before the crash, she is way off track (not going the right way home) vomiting & calls from kids come in. WHEN did she start drinking/smoking? WHY?

  • Upon further reflection I feel Diane Schuler is responsible for the tragic deaths of everyone involved in this accident. Not the state of New York and most definitely not the brother. She had numerous opportunities to stop and wait for help The matter is; if you are in so much pain to the point wear you are disabled you need to pull over and wait for help especially when you are responsible for others.

  • Anyone find it odd that know one (obviously not her brother) in her family was interviewed. There's something both sides of the family knows and her family has the good sense to keep quiet. Her husband creeps me out, there's definitely more to the story.

  • Everybody says the answer is simple.. She was drunk and high. But that doesn't explain how she drove so straight down the highway ???? If she was so dunk and high to want to die, then she would be as equally too drunk to even drive..ESPECIALLY IN A STRAIGHT LINE. There is more to this story then just a drunk diver!!

  • @ThePiercingFalsettos doesn't matter a thing.. it's just like the medical examiner said.. the one that they Jay and Danny hired and he came and spoke to them.. it was in this documentary.. it's just like he said.. no matter what the case was "the alcohol would always prevail" her blood alcohol content was over 2 times the legal limit.. that of 10 shots.. no matter what the situation was...she was drunk. if it was some other matter, well, then she should have never been driving.

  • @ThePiercingFalsettos witnesses saw her pulled over on the side of the road vomiting..there is a point that if there was really "something wrong with aunt diane" other than she was drunk and high.. diane schuler had opportunities to call for help.. pull over and stop driving the car.... the reason she couldn't think straight and make those wise choices was because of being under the influence. why won't people accept this? these toxicology tests do not lie.

  • @ThePiercingFalsettos she drove only 1.7 miles before she slammed head on to an oncoming SUV. before the collision other drivers were thankfully swerve out of her way. 1.7 miles is not a long way to go..

  • @ThePiercingFalsettos It's called an extremely high tolerance level to alcohol. Some alcoholics can drink a whole bottle of whiskey and seem fine. It's because they have been drinking forever and it takes more and more drinks to affect them.

  • @LemonGrassScented ??? That would make sence if she was a person who drank often but we know she wasn't. Everyone who knew her says she was NOT a drinker.....so that trumps that theory.

  • @LemonGrassScented she wasn't fine.. witnesses saw her on the side of the road barfing... what happens when most of us drink too much?? we vomit... she stopped at a gas station almost 2 hours before the accident.. the marijuana and alcohol most likely were not in her system yet... and the toxicology tests seem to prove just that. her husband says if she asked for advil then maybe she was in pain.. i wonder if anyone has ever thought maybe she was thinking of swallowing a bottle of pills..

  • @LemonGrassScented i know that's far fetched.. but if people think it was a murder suicide..she wasn't on the highway that long before the accident occurred. little under 2 miles...

  • @ThePiercingFalsettos I think she was trying to commit suicide; that's why she was driving straight towards the traffic. I think getting blotto loosened her inhibitions and she finally snapped after years of repressed anger and depression. She probably thought her kids would be better off if they died with her and if the nieces died too, well so much the better, because they could all play together in heaven. I think it was a death wish that made Diane Schuler drive in a straight line.

  • suicide= HELL...... SORRY :(

  • I believe it was a suicide, for some reason she said Fuc* it and took the cowardly way out.RIP to the victims.

  • That is crazy, they want to exhumed Diana's body just to check for a tooth abscess?

  • Could they ask clerk what she asked? If she was looking for meds, alcohol, or something else.

  • if you're gonna drink and smoke...stay the hell away from behind the wheel of a car please!

  • 1) The husband is not to blame. No one else put alcohol in her blood stream while she was driving 5 kids.

    2) Her sudden binge-while-driving was bizarre even if she was a functional alcoholic. If she was a compulsive drinker, there would likely have been other signs even if only in retrospect.

    3) Something clearly caused a crisis for her that morning

    4) It may have been a medical problem, however there was clearly something wrong with her by the time of her last call and she seemed to hiding it

  • @lynelhutz yeah, the thing that was clearly wrong with her was that she was drunk out of her mind and stoned... we know that because of the toxicology tests.. the rest is all SPECULATION!!! i get severe migraines.. i would not even attempt to get in the car with 4 kids and drive anywhere.. i gotta have a friend or family member drive me to the ER for a pain shot cause i can't even physically drive myself cause i'm so sick. people should stop speculating on what they DO NOT KNOW!!!

  • @lynelhutz oh, second thing.. you're right the husband is not to blame for the accident..however, he is quite pathetic now bringing a lawsuit against his brother in which his own wife killed their ONLY children... oh, and let's hope to GOD that the only little boy that survived this crash never see's this documentary because if he does, he'll know how much daddy never even wanted kids in the first place...and how much of a burden he is for his father.

  • @lynelhutz there was a point that Diane Schuler did know something was wrong.. it was reported by witnesses that saw her pulled over "vomiting" on the side of the road. why she continued to make the choices she made about getting in to the car and continuing to drive no one will ever know. that in itself is clearly neglect.

  • Diane did have a disease since the toxicology is right, addiction to alcohol and drugs is a disease. Which was a major factor, but on the other hand did anyone notice she was not stumbling into the gas station and she clearly looked dazed and confused and drove like a sober person. THC the chemical found in marrijuana, stays in your system for months if your a daily smoker so even if she did NOT smoke that day she would still test possitive.

  • I think Daniel releasing the photos of his dead wife to the makers of the HBO special say a lot. He is a soul-less prick and is hiding something really evil.

  • Comment removed

  • I really don't think Diane or her family deserves all these negative comments. There was something clearly medically wrong with her. Bryan even said it himself & he was in the car. I don't think a 5 year old would like, I don't even think a 5 year old would know how to lie, he had no reason to. Diane seemed like a very loving person. She was loved by so many so she had to be doing something right. Now why there was alcohol and weed in her system, IDK. BUT I DO KNOW SHE DIDNT DO THIS ON PURPOSE!

  • @LetsPlayTheSims You don't know any such thing. In the documentary the investigator they hired to find out if the toxicology reports were right (they were) told the sister-in-law that there was no way to know for certain if Diane did what she did on purpose. But it sure as hell looks like she knew exactly what she was doing when she started driving in the wrong direction.

  • If Diane Schuler is in hell, her husband will see her again because that is where he came from. Diane's brother & his wife lost their ENTIRE family, and that pig Daniel is suing THEM? Not to mention that a year after the accident, he does not even seem grateful that his son survived with all the bitching about being a single parent. He doesn't even mention losing his own daughter! His mother said she spoiled him. She is right. He is an uneducated white trash piece of garbage.

  • @findmejackmalone1 I got the impression that the tragedy put a stench in his LIFE and its an inconvenience to him that his wife died versus a tragedy, why because he didn't want kids to start with. He wasn't even remorseful. SELFISH!!!

  • Why in God's name did they allow pictures from the accident scene to be shown? They are so concerned with what Bryan Schuler will HEAR about his mother, yet they do not care what he will SEE about her someday?

I think she was basically a good person who made several bad decisions that day, for whatever the reasons. But how sadly ironic and convenient that she had vodka & pot with her to reach for. How different the story would be if she didn't.

  • I just finished seeing this and i was disgusted her husband knew and ignored everything. I can tell in his refusal to accept it and move on with his life.It is almost like the movie antichrist with willem dafoe. He is just trying to keep his view of the perfict wife and family. The only thing i thought she was wrong was she took people with her.

  • It must drive them crazy to not know why it happend or what she was thinking.

  • I feel bad for the husband having to lie, and make up stories about something medical happening to his wife, when it's so obvious that she intended to murder all of those children, herself and whatever hapless stranger she crashed into. What a disgusting fat murderous bitch. I hope she gets reincarnated as a toilet. If i ever get to Westchester I'll be sure to stop in and have a piss on her grave.

  • Potheads and people who drink do not drive 70mph in a straight line the wrong way on the Taconic. That is not what happened. That Mother was stressed. Stressed to the point that she lost her will to continue the difficult struggle of life. The suffering of those left behind will begin to ease when there is acceptance of fatal desperation. It can overwhelm strong people at anytime in this crazy life we live on earth. Rest in peace innocent souls.

  • I also feel like the directors showed Dianes body as a show of disrespect because a bit before, or after, they show her dead body they show the Fireman say that they held up white sheets to protect the crash victims dignity. Diane is the only one they show in death. I felt very bad for the good samaritan who was crying when talking about trying to help at the crash site & detailing how her body fell on his feet. The way he talks about begging the child to breathe again, to no avail, tore me up.

  • On a side note - I read that the mother of the three girls lost in the accident was having another baby. On one hand I'm happy for them. On the other hand I can't help but wonder if this child will have issues because the parents will be terrified to let it out of their sight. I mean, this woman Diane intentionally killed her brothers kids. Who are you supposed to trust more than family? Will this only child have issues because it was raised in the shadow of it's 3 dead siblings?

  • I though of an affair as well. She abhored cheaters due to her mother so she would lose it if he was having an affair. Losing control in her marriage would NOT sit well with her. Maybe she was a closet alcoholic & her husband was going to spill the beans & blow her "perfect" cover so she snapped & took everyone out. Whatever the reason I got an "I'll show you" vibe from her actions. A person doesn't "accidently" drink the amount of alcohol that was in her system in such a short amount of time.

  • That 911 operator who answers the phone @ 0:05 sounds so enthuastic, like she just loves her job.

  • @FKatzenjammer I thought the same thing...weird reaction...

  • Science is rarely wrong. Each patient is assigned a case number, that number is put on every piece of tissue removed from your body and recorded in series. When techs are working in the lab, it is rare they know that the tissue they are processing belonged to a high profile case. Cover ups just aren't realistic. She may have been a good mother, but so are a lot of addicts.

  • Question?? What do you all think the logic was behind showing the pictures of her body??

  • @AGEwife To show what happens to people who drive drunk.

  • Something caused this woman to snap. After watching this...the husband is an ass. The sister sure did start teling the truth about him at the end. Diane found out something and she lost it....I think she went over the deep end and decided to kill herself and the kids...and maybe it's linked to an affair?? She HATED her mother for leaving her dad...if her hubby was cheating and god forbid with the sister in law...it's the only thing that could possibly make sense.

  • Marijuana is said to help alleviate migraines, and maybe Diane smoked pot to treat her growing headache that morning while she casually sipped on her screwdriver at McDonalds. She had ample time to do that while the kids were playing in the play area. Diane used extremely poor judgement, but I don't believe she intended the tragic outcome. She prided herself on her ability to be in control. This event may have been some kind of internal, Russian Roulette 'control' game she played with herself.

  • Denial denial denial - why can't this family accept the facts? They want to keep dragging the victimns through their grief over and over again. Daniel Schuler needs to thank God that his son was spared and move on - not for his sake but for the sake of his child. Diane Schuler made an extremely trajic mistake and her guilt died with her. People need to move on and accept things as they are.

  • The husband and sister in law make me sick, that dumb cunt was drunk and high. Sorry ass loser was more concerned about how hard it is to raise the lone survivor and how he gets no time to himself at least you are not dead you fat fuck. He is a sorry excuse for a man he is more devastated that his gravy train has derailed.

  • @CLUDIACERAG don't be so quick to judge, my friend. it's hard for them to accept that this all happened just because she was under the influence, and if it happened in your family, God forbid, you might just act similarly. Diane made a mistake, that doesn't make her a bad person. nor are her family bad people simply for being in denial. their judgement is obscured by grief, and they don't want to believe it. you weren't there, so have some respect for those in mourning, or at least for the dead.

  • @polaricebabe15 where did you watch it?

  • @FigureSkater243 I watched it on HBO demand under documentaries or specials I forget which title...

  • I watched this movie last night and it was soo messed up. I felt really bad when it happened and I teared up a little bit,

  • i just watched the whole thing and i just dont unerstand, when she was driving on the wrong way of the highway, why was she just looking straight ahead? the whole story just does not make sense

  • @shanikwawhite1 --I so agree with you. I kept thinking of what one of the witnesses said--"she was driving pin straight!" Most drunk drivers weave in and out of traffic-very strange!-just a horrific, horrific thing for all involved!!

  • @shanikwawhite1 where did you watch it?

  • If this woman was as perfect as her family says then her first instinct would have been to pull over & call for help if she was in that much pain & had children in the car. Those would've been the actions of the woman they all described. It was supposed to be a simple 35 min drive but she left the campground knowing she would do this. The key is knowing what happened between with her husband. He knows but won't tell. You can see it in his eyes that he's hiding something.

  • @TheDWDProd I agree with you!!!! There's something that husband knows and I feel thats why he has such a nasty attitude b/c he's angry at himself deep down...

  • @TheDWDProd I cannot agree with you more! He knows the truth.

  • Say she did mistake the vodka for water (didn't happen) but what about the weed? She could see well enough to smoke weed while she was driving but couldn't tell a vodka bottle from a water jug? She drove in a straight line at 85 MPH for 2 miles before hitting another car & NEVER swerved according to witnesses. She was on a mission. She even scouted out the perfect place to end it during the 4 hour drive that shouldve only been 35 min. This was no accident. This was calculated murder/suicide.

  • @TheDWDProd That is a good theory you got and I agree with you. When I first saw this doctumary I was shocked at how there were photos of Diane's dead body! A damn shame how innocent people had to die like that.

  • I totally agree that Danny and his son need therapy to deal with this.

  • I'm sure someone has thought of this already - but I keep going back to what the kids in the car said: that Diane was in pain and she couldn't see. I know people who have had serious migraines and that is exactly how they describe them - they say that sometimes they are so bad that they can't see. I dunno - might be a stretch, but maybe it's possible she had a serious migraine, had impaired vision and drank the vodka by mistake?

  • @swborderer If Diane was partying all weekend, then it's easy to assume she may have been hung over with a small headache from dehydration at the start of her trip home. She may have misjudged this and didn't take proper care to alleviate her condition. A responsible person would have taken some aspirin and drank a lot of bottled water on the drive. Instead, she bought orange juice at McDonalds to make a screwdriver, misjudged the measurement and this intensified her headache into a migraine.

  • @jehannefor That seems possible, yes.

  • @swborderer yeah because vodka goes down soo smooth just like water

  • @swborderer That is a stretch, considering she had about 10 drinks worth in her system. I think she would have noticed that it did not taste like water after the first gulp.

  • @swborderer Even if that was what happened, does a migraine kill your taste buds?? After one swig, surely to God she would have known it was not water!!!

  • @Connie2S You're close but I think It's the other way way around. Diane OWNED her husband.

  • An abcessed tooth does not cause most people to act stupid. She should have gotten the tooth pulled it would have saved her a lot of pain, the longer a tooth has an infection at the root the worse it is and the infection is bad for the person. She drank alcohol to get rid of the pain but to drink while driving is bad and smoking marijuana is worse, she should never have done both. Stupidity!

  • Danny got paid $100,000 for being in this documentary and is now suing the state and his brother-in-law. It's all about MONEY now.

  • @Riotboy1 Danny doesn't have the slave and the bread winner anymore! Why do you think he married

Diane because she made a lot more money than he did, he was a security guard most don't even make 40 thousand a year. Her salary was over $100 thousand a year. Why are they suing the state when it was his wife that was driving drunk, what she couldn't see the signs?

  • @Riotboy1 that's disgusting. what is he suing his brother for? the brother in whom his wife killed his 3 kids? OMG!!! you know what else was so sad in this documentary.. is when the sister in law, jay, said that danny was saying he never wanted kids and now he is left with raising this child that he never even wanted. makes me sick.

  • @Riotboy1 you know, I love my country and the rights we have here.. but sometimes.. it hurts to see bad people used these rights to do mean things. Knowing full well they are under protection of the law to do them. When that happens... it really hurts. Letting Danial sue like that... and knowing he can do so rightfully, just makes me so angry. He is such scum. None of this has anything to do with the van..

  • Danny also said that Diane would occasionally smoke pot to help her "fall asleep". So there are probably more than a few little skeletons in the closet that we'll keep gradually discovering so that we can get a more accurate picture of the behavior and personality of Diane Schuler.

  • i feel bad for the men in the other car

  • It was murder/suicide. She snapped. She was a control freak who was wound to tight & kept everything inside. She NEVER talked about her mom with her husband of 13 years? She NEVER talked about her marriage with her closest friends? Something happened with her husband that made her snap. I mean, she left the cell phone so the kids couldn't call for help anymore & then drove in the opposite direction of where people were coming to look for her. The denial coming from that family is disgusting!

  • @TheDWDProd The only reasons for the denial is they are afraid they will be sued for wrongful death. But they are all covering up something. They called her a good wife and mother, she was their slave and her husband didn't even help her with the kids and did you hear him, "I never wanted kids" , well isn't it something her certainly had them and his wife took care of them solely he didn't help her with anything. I think it was gods way!

  • @TheDWDProd I am convinced he was messing around maybe with the sister in law. It was their van, she thad their kids. Did she find something in the van...did the kids say something? We will never know, but it makes a little sense.

  • @TheDWDProd I disagree, I just had an abcess tooth myself about a month ago [ and i live in cronic pain daily for other medical reasons] the tooth ache was the worst ever i wanted to die from the pain, I had to monitor the medicine i took that night that it hit bad just to make sure i didnt od mind you because of the pain i didnt much care, she tried to buy meds at the gas place they didnt have them, the vodka was in the car she drank too much and smoked the pot for pain, she made a fatal mistak

  • @TheDWDProd please understand I couldnt finish my post i ran out of time, i dont condone her choices at all, she had kids in the car, but i feel because she was a control freak she didnt want to admit she had a problem, she probley didnt even realize how much she drank when it wasnt taking the pain away she kept doing it them smoked the pot or maybe vice versa, just from life experiance and being in pain myself before i believe this is what happened, but it WAS HER FAULT thats 100% sure

  • @hockpatooey I have tmj and fractured them mr high n mighty.

  • I definitely believe Diane had no intentions to kill 8 people but my theory is that she was in pain and decided to soothe the pain by drinking the vodka that was found empty in the car.

  • @iamthewintertime She's wasn't "in pain." She was a closet drinker, a functioning alcoholic who ended up killing a lot of people.

  • I also believe that that PI Tom is BS. He sends the samples to the lab and then disappears until the documentary. I think he got the results and their results were different from the original results and he got paid to keep quiet and at the end say that she was drunk and high.

  • I come from a family with a strong medical background and I definitely 100% think that it was a medical issue. I believe the blinding pain from the tooth abscess caused her not be in her right state of mind. People have no idea what pain can do to a person. Also, I believe she did not consciously, knowingly, drink the alcohol, especially not 10 drinks worth in that short amount of time. As for the weed, that's irrelevant. Weed does not cause someone to drive on the wrong side of the highway.

  • @J0ANNAx3 Are you Danny? Or just stupid like him?

  • @J0ANNAx3 The toxicoloy reports proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was shitfaced drunk and stoned. "Did not consciously, knowingly drink the alcohol?" What kind of shit is that? Are you saying she drank it thinking it was fruit punch? And the "tooth abcess" theory is just plain ridiculous. The fact is that nobody wants to believe that a woman would get blind drunk while driving in a car with a bunch of kids. But that is what happened. If there is a hell, Diana Schuler is burning there.

  • @cynthiacher wow. can you read? b/c i clearly stated 'what kind of shit' i was talking about. you have no idea what pain can do to a person. it can make people physically sick which is prob why she pulled over to puke. it can also make people go crazy to the point where they are in a completely different state of mind. and you know absolutely nothing about marijuana lol. weed doesn't make people drive on the opposite side of the road like she did. alcohol also doesn't make one drive on

  • @J0ANNAx3 The autopsy showed no medical reason for her to be in pain so excruciating it made her puke. The autopsy showed no severe medical abnormalities at all. So that whole theory about how she must have been in such "pain" that she guzzled vodka and smoked weed and ended up killing eight people, including herself, is a lot of horseshit. Another thing; the children never said she was in "pain." All they knew was that something was really WRONG with her. Was was wrong was that she was DRUNK.

  • @cynthiacher the opposite side of the road like she was - dead straight. hmm also why didn't any of the witnesses at the mcdonalds or the gas station mention she smelled of alcohol? oh. because she didn't? and they said that? when would she have time to get that drunk anyway? also why didn't the children say anything on the phone about her drinking alcohol or smoking weed which would have to have been done in front of them hmm? all they said was "there's something wrong. she's in pain".

  • @J0ANNAx3 the stop at mcdonalds and the gas station was more than 2 hours before the crash..giving her much time to throw back all that vodka.. plus they have said the marijuana in her system was indicative that she smoked it about 15 to 30 minutes before the crash.. it's more likely the ALCOHOL made her VOMIT and completely disoriented..but we'll never know because she was high and drunk and crashed her call killing herself and 7 others.

  • @J0ANNAx3 i get horrible migraines.. i don't know if you have ever gotten real serious horrible migraines but they make me so sick.. they hurt so much i feel like i'm a damn crazy person.. i am a totally different person when i have a migraine than i normally am. yet, i know better than to get behind the wheel of a car.. i have someone drive me to the ER to seek medical attention. i don't try and do it myself!!!

  • @J0ANNAx3 and those kids didn't say that she was in pain they only said "there is something wrong with aunt diane" .. which meant to those kids that she was not acting normal to them. there was something wrong.. she was not being herself. they were little kids. how did the cell phone manage to get left back at the stop they made?? they kept misdialing and when they did make contact it was cut short.

  • @ambash84 look. i didn't even bother reading the 3 paragraphs you wrote. idk who you are, and i have better things to do than argue with someone who has absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever, about something that i randomly decided to watch on tv once that also has no impact on my life and that i don't even care about now. i don't even remember why i posted here, probably b/c i had JUST watched it and was all emotionally in the moment. so go creep on other peoples comments and argue k?

  • @J0ANNAx3 lol if you didn't read my comments why would you accuse me of arguing with you? anyway, i wasn't trying to argue with you or creep on your comments. if you don't want anyone to comment back to you then you shouldn't post comments. anyway, toxicology reports do not lie.. regardless of whatever you had said in your comments.

  • @J0ANNAx3 If she was "sick" then why didn't she pull over and use her cell phone to call for help? As for puking...well, that's what happens when you guzzle too much alcohol at one time. She didn't smell of alcohol because vodka doesn't HAVE a smell, which is why it's the drink of choice for secret drinkers. And obviously she didn't drink or smoke in front of the children, although she may have been gulping from a cup of orange juice spiked with vodka.

  • Jay Schuler says in this documentary that her sister in law was not drunk and that something must have happened.. but the toxicology report does not lie..especially the BAC report with as high as it was.. twice the legal limit.. that woman was a larger woman and she had to have quite a bit of alcohol in her..So sad :(

Diane Schuler had knocked back the equivalent of 10 shots of 80-proof booze and smoked marijuana as recently as 15 minutes before the horrific July 26 smash-up, officials said.

  • Any sympathy I had for the husband I lost after just watching this documentary. He made an absolute fool of himself. If you have nothing to hide, you don't hire Joey Buttafuoco's attorney Dominick Barbara. Real sad story that this guy is now suing the state and his brother in-law. Seems like the wife was the bread winner and he is just a loser.

  • Man Ive seen this documentary several times now, and its a bunch of bullshit the family is just trying to pass the blame, but the truth is that if she would have survived she would be in jail....Just accept the fact that the woman made several bad decisions and it cost 8 lives.

  • this Diane Person is a cunt

  • There is definitely something we don`t know about this extremely dysfunctional family. Why this guy is in so much denial is beyond reason. You can`t argue with forensics, expecially when it is confirmed over and over again. The fact that he says they took that vodka bottle back and forth from the campsite to home like a puppy or something is retarded in itself. I tend to go along wth the suicide death wish theory. Living with Danny alone would drive anyone to suicide.

  • She was a selfish woman, who was drunk and stoned nothing more nothing less. I have had 2 tooth abcesses and they are painful but you can deal with it without booze or drugs. Prayers to her victims.

  • "Hallucinating due to an abcess?!" That is so dumb it's unbelievable. But then every excuse for this reprehensible woman is so dumb it's unbelieveable. The truth is plain and simple; she got blind drunk and stoned and got behind the wheel of a car filled with children. She's a murderer. I hope she's burning in hell. And I hope her disgusting husband does, too.

  • I am disgusted that anyone would act like someone who killed seven innocent people and herself in a drunken, high state did nothing wrong. Instead of acting like they were the only victims, Dan and his sister should be humbled and compassionate towards the other victims' families. Also, why was Dan's mom bragging on camera about how she spoiled her son? Her son's behavior through all of this clearly demonstrates that, being spoiled is not a good thing.

  • I noticed an interesting comment that Diane Schuler's sister-in-law, Jay, made in the documentary. Jay whipped out a cigarette in front of the camera and began smoking. She said, "My family doesn't even know I smoke". Those words spoke volumes about this family hiding their secrets from other family members.

  • @TheJanLA I agree!

  • @TheJanLA Yeah, that's so true. Also, Blood Alcohol Tests do not lie.. sorry the family can't deal with the fact this woman was drunk and stoned but those are the stone cold facts..

  • @dbritton41 she also took the sleeping pill/anti depressant ambien if u look at her medical records during the show he passes the pages real fast but they never even say that! they just mention marijuana and the vodka! meds are a no no

  • @pacer91345 well, meds aren't a no no if she had some medical issues that she needed to take those medications for. but seriously, if she was taking ambien and smoking pot for sleep.. then she had serious sleeping problems. it just really pisses me off that this family can't accept the reality of what really happened and they have to keep bringing up this horrible tragedy.

  • @dbritton41

Ya so why was it that 10 minutes before the crash she went to a gas station walking perfectly fine to go buy advils

  • @atome56 she didn't stop at the gas station 10 minutes before the crash. here is the report of timeline. which is almost 2 hours..crash occurred at 1:30 pm..

  • @atome56 While at the gas station, she tried to buy OTC pain-relief medication, but the store did not sell any.Schuler left Liberty, New York just after 11am travelling along Route 17 and Interstate 87, entering the Ramapo service area , and crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge heading east. At 12:08 PM, Schuler's cell phone received a call from a person who has not been identified.

  • @atome56 At 12:58 PM, another call was made to Hance from Schuler's cell phone. During the call, Emma Hance reportedly told her father that Schuler was having trouble seeing and speaking clearly. Schuler's van traveled south for 1.7 miles in the parkway's northbound passing lane before colliding head-on, at approximately 1:37 PM. So no, it was not 10 minutes before the crash that she stopped at the gas station. It was around 2 hours.

  • @atome56 my source..and if you google the timeline it's all over the internet as well. wikibin.org/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=35884

  • @TheJanLA lol shut the fuck up. Dont try and add to it

  • Theres no need to have a opinion on this. Its very sad and tragic. Dont make yourself look foolish or ignorant by saying anything bad about anyone of these people. Even Diane Schuler. People make mistakes and its the very sad reality of life.

  • @TheJanLA My boyfriend just same the same thing lol. We're watching it right now and just saw that part.

  • @TheJanLA OMG yes!!!! I got a chill when she said that and my heart sank...This was a great documentary on a horrific tragedy...God bless their souls :(

  • Ii totally noticed that she said her family didn't know she smoked either , gees those people are in some deep melancholy denial .

  • @TheJanLA wow, thats a good point. i saw the hbo special and heard that part but didnt put 2 n 2 together till u posted that...then in this vid, jay says 'if you tell me she was hallucinating from an abscess then we'll have to live with that'...wtheck is she talking about. that has got to be the most irrational thing she could ever say. she already has the truth. try living with that. tremendous denial going on here too. its almost to the point of pathological denial

  • @TheJanLA

i caught that too & thought the exact same thing!

  • @TheJanLA ..You took the words right out of my mouth; that was EPIC!

  • @TheJanLA if only because she had already exposed herself as being pretty self deluded- yes. but i wonder if thats not the sort of thing an hack lawyer like Dominic Barbara would TELL you to say . . .

  • What a web of lies and deceite! This woman, and I use that term loosely b/c it implies humanity, killed those poor children. She is a murderer, and her suvivors are liars or they are in total denial...or both. I am saddened by ALL the deaths, but the childrens death by her hand is such a travesty of justice. We will never know the terror those children experienced in those final few minutes of their lives, and that makes me physically ill.

  • Daniel is suing the state for an unsafe road & his own brother in law (who lost 3 daughters that day) who owned the "unsafe" van they were traveling in. The man has lost 3 daughters & HE is getting sued as the van's owner by his brother in law & the surviving family of the SUV that Diane smashed into. Somethings really wrong here. What a nightmare.

  • I always had the theory that they were two disturbed losers with sexual and addiction problems when they met and figured they would both enable each other.

I also think Dan had a lot of molestation issues and Dianne was reinacting hers inside her marriage to a man who was in a fanatsy world.

Most women friends of mine who have drinking problems are almost always sexual abuse vicitms often living in a marriage to someone who both repulses them and laugh at them. Dan is a sociopath.

  • I have a lot of comments to make on this incident but I don't think I can go on any more.. And the car that she crashed in killing the elders... smh

  • Then her husband was like she used to have chronic tooth pain and maybe she mistaken the VODKA for water!!!!! Like wtf??? WHat kind of stupid ass excuse is that?? Am just so sad that the kids died in the crash...

If she wanted to commit suicide she could've left the kids and do what ever she wanted to herself. And the fact that the kids were callin their parents & asking for help and she stopped and left the phone on the highway bridge what kind of messed up thing is that??

  • I watched this yesterday on July 27 2011.. While I was watching this on HBO I was sympathetic towards Diane's family. The husband said that she never SMOKED or DRUNK EVER in her life... And claimed that the autopsy and toxicology were FALSE.

Later on in the show he said that she smoked marijuana on special occasions. Then he said she only drunk once a month..

This dude is a liar.. Why wouldn't he just admit that he wife made a mistake and put everything to rest instead of lying. SMH

  • @MYSEXYDIMPLES Lol I watched this yesterday too! It was so sad, I wish they would just let people think what ever they want to think and move on with their lives.

  • Yeah they definitely molested those kids and she couldn't live with it anymore. It was pretty obvious, I just cant believe no one realized what was going on.
