There's a lot of movies in French on the web that you can watch. Then, by listening French movies - which is advertising at the same time - you do practice your French. That's how I practiced English (my second language) in watching English movies and I became skilful ! Slowly but surely, you must become more comfortable. For The first French movie I recommend : Hors de prix - part 1/10 (very good and funny movie with great actors). Good success ! ; )

I think all of you need to understand that French films talk about everyday life and what it means to be - it is not all about unrealistic ideas like American films. There is nothing wrong with either, they are just different.
