Excellent, with really good and detailed description. Another good idea (depending on area of course) is to cure in sunlight. Also chrome wheel nuts can look really good (perhaps black also) on some cars. Again, excellent, thanks.
Okay I have a question. How do you remove the steel part that you're painting in this video because mine is very rusted and I would like to remove it before I paint it.
@jonderrick25 Do you mean the rim itself??? If you don't have the proper equipment, you would have to take them to your local mechanic or tire shop and have them remove the tires from the rims. Once you were done painting them, you would have to take them back and have the tires reinstalled. You can do it yourself, but it's a real hassle just using hand tools.
@toyota4life94 If its grey, than it's probably just the factory finish. Most Toyota steel rims are grey. For them, you can use the exact same process as I did. If there is some rust forming which would be a brownish color, then give it a good same down to make sure its removed before you paint it to reduce the chance of the rust coming back in the future.
@toyota4life94 You would just have to sand the paint to give it a rougher surface for the new paint to stick to. I would advise is if there is any pealing paint, just to sand around that area down to the steel to prevent the original paint from pealing up again and having the new paint chip off.
