Yes odds are the brake light kill switch is still on and as for the reading of the plate, the only info you could possibly get is that the vehicle is registered to the LASD, it is not linked to an individual officer, at the beginning of each shift they check out a vehicle so odds are the officer will have a different vehicle next shift or even later in the day if that one has to be switched out

County Sheriff Department" nothing like who the deputy is will come up because deputies switch out vehicles on there shifts.this is a fact i'm a student worker for LASD and some of our jobs is vehicle maintainence and they are very strict about keeping that stuff up to date, i'm sure this deputy worked graveyard into early morning and forgot about having his tailights off.

from where I'm from, it is completely diffrent. Deputies have their vehicles assigned, every police officer has there vehicle assigned, samething for state police. Most of the agencies in the east are smaller. So that probally explains it

What? There are agencies all over the country that assign patrol vehicles to officers, but they're not registered to the individual officer. It will still be registered to "Anytown Police Department" (or whatever agency). I don't believe that police vehicles are REGISTERED to any individual officer anywhere in the country. Honolulu being one exception, where they often times use their own personal vehicles for patrol. But that's still not a marked patrol vehicle.
