hey i live in naples florida and me and my buddies do not have a boat but were having trouble finding some nice spots in our area. There are lots of backwater canals and passes, but weve never had any real luck. and suggestions for spots or tips? thanks
I would fish those spillways and canals along the side of the road from 75 to the gulf. You spend enough time fishing them you may strike it fish rich.
What kind of boat would your recommend for someone trying to stay on a budget, but wants to fish for those usual inshore species: snook, shark, tarpon, grouper and snapper? What am i looking at spending?
Do you happen to sell instructional DVD's on fishing, and if so where can I purchase them? Also do you fish for snapper, I've only been able to find one show related to snapper fishing (the one with you and your daughter).
We will work on some more instructions over the rest of this year for some Snapper. I know there are a lot of guys like you out there that would like to learn more about them.
I believe we used an Okuma with a Cape Fear Advance Tech. You can also use a Penn Battle or Sargus in the 4000 size with a 7ft Rod in the 10-20 pound class.
In this video we were using Thread Fin herring as bait. We had 20 or 30 pound Sufix braided line fished on 40 pound fluro leader which can be found at TotalFishing . com.
love the show, i always yell somethign like this for no reason: ''YOU CAN DO IT BEEN''....if they get away....''ahh no problem, there are better fish in the sea''
hey Capt. I have a lake in my back yard that very often, a few tarpon find there way in to from the canals, and most of the time, they are big. biggest ive seen had to be maybe 40 or 50 pounds, probably a bit heavier. What setup (Rod, line/leader, hook, bait) are you using in this video, cause I'd like to go after these tarpon, cause after a while, largemouths, peacocks, bluegills and cichlids get boring =/
i got an 80-90 lb tarpon right off my friend's dock behind his house in cape coral..caught it on a 3 1/2 inch finger mullet while fishing for catfish to use as bait for tarpon! i'm glad i was using a rod that i also use for tarpon fishing with smaller baits (pinfish, crabs, finger mullet, ect.) i was probably using tackle slightly heavier than these dudes. my other tarpon rod has 300 yards of 40 lb test, several feet of 100 lb, and several feet of 200 lb leader, i've had 100 lb broken before!!
Hey Capt. big fan of the show! I was wondering about good fishing spots for trout, redfish, snook, and tarpon in the Pine Island sound area, I have some maps if that helps....
i live near canals like that in the keys and try to catch tarpon with balloons but never seem to catch any.
There are many out there from seeing them role and early in the morning at like 4:00 i saw a tarpon over six foot and had to weigh atleast 180 pounds just swimming next to some flood lights i had pointing in the water.
To be honest you can bring in a giant shark with the line they use. They are using metal lines which is like bringing in a baby on a piece of iron. It's easy as hell. Realize when they get a big fish and go all crazy with the rod? It's because if they did that with regular line it would fucking snap.
....metal lines? defiantly not. that is a braided line, I believe he uses green power pro, and I'm guessing he is only using 30lb test. they don't use "metal line" when they doing the goliath grouper challenges either, they use 200lb mono leader.
Capt. Ben im going to cape coral in june were staying at a house on the canal you got any advice for what kinda bait i should use?

@boiboi615
I really like Zoom and Exude jerk baits for lures. Threadfin and catfish tails are my favorite for Tarpon.
