  • Capt. Ben im going to cape coral in june were staying at a house on the canal you got any advice for what kinda bait i should use?

  • @boiboi615

I really like Zoom and Exude jerk baits for lures. Threadfin and catfish tails are my favorite for Tarpon.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • hey i live in naples florida and me and my buddies do not have a boat but were having trouble finding some nice spots in our area. There are lots of backwater canals and passes, but weve never had any real luck. and suggestions for spots or tips? thanks

  • @INJproductions

I would fish those spillways and canals along the side of the road from 75 to the gulf. You spend enough time fishing them you may strike it fish rich.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • What bait did you used sir?

  • @MitchSuvaal Threadfin herring

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • can u use a condom instead of a balloon??

  • What kind of boat would your recommend for someone trying to stay on a budget, but wants to fish for those usual inshore species: snook, shark, tarpon, grouper and snapper? What am i looking at spending?

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • sorry about repeating the same message three times, some kind or error with my computer.

  • Capt. Ben,

Do you happen to sell instructional DVD's on fishing, and if so where can I purchase them? Also do you fish for snapper, I've only been able to find one show related to snapper fishing (the one with you and your daughter).

  • @dtorres2832

We will work on some more instructions over the rest of this year for some Snapper. I know there are a lot of guys like you out there that would like to learn more about them.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • Capt. Ben,

Do you happen to sell instructional DVD on fishing, and if so where can I purchase them?

  • Capt. Ben, how did you hook the bait, through the back? Thanks

  • @dtorres2832

    Through the nose.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • Capt. Ben,

What type and size of hook did you use? Also how did you hook the bait, through the back? Thanks

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • whats the biggest tarpon u have ever caught?

  • @350turboman

The biggest fish is that 1,000 pound Hammerhead Shark.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • That looks fun to just go fishing in your backyard. What kind of combo were you using?

  • @ARCEUS0697

I believe we used an Okuma with a Cape Fear Advance Tech. You can also use a Penn Battle or Sargus in the 4000 size with a 7ft Rod in the 10-20 pound class.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • Also What lures are you using for these snook and tarpon?

  • @JL23Bih

    We used live bait.

  • You think the balloons help alot?

  • @JL23Bih

Yes they worked very well for us.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • nice entertaining vid.. can you please include what bait ang what rig you were using? thank you so much..:)

  • @lisolangka

In this video we were using Thread Fin herring as bait. We had 20 or 30 pound Sufix braided line fished on 40 pound fluro leader which can be found at TotalFishing . com.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey thank you so much capt.!! more vids to come..:)

  • @ captchancey is that brackish water? If so I didnt know you could catch snook, redfish and tarpon out of those areas

  • @Markmartinfan10

Yes the water is brackish and those are great areas for Tarpon and Snook.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • im from canada and am going to fort myers in the spring of 2011 any tips to fishing inshore canals and what line do u use for saltwater fishing.

  • love the show, i always yell somethign like this for no reason: ''YOU CAN DO IT BEEN''....if they get away....''ahh no problem, there are better fish in the sea''

  • hey Capt. I have a lake in my back yard that very often, a few tarpon find there way in to from the canals, and most of the time, they are big. biggest ive seen had to be maybe 40 or 50 pounds, probably a bit heavier. What setup (Rod, line/leader, hook, bait) are you using in this video, cause I'd like to go after these tarpon, cause after a while, largemouths, peacocks, bluegills and cichlids get boring =/

  • @CallsignWhat

I would use a 4000 size Shimano stradic or Spheros reel with a 7ft 10 to 20 pound class rod.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • @captchancey

    What bait were you using?

  • @CallsignWhat

    Thredfin

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • hey nice fish you guys caught! but what did you use for bait?

  • Hey capt. why do you drop the rod when tarpon jumps out and back into water?

  • So you don't snap the line.

  • im not sure if this or the first ever episode is my favorite

  • i got an 80-90 lb tarpon right off my friend's dock behind his house in cape coral..caught it on a 3 1/2 inch finger mullet while fishing for catfish to use as bait for tarpon! i'm glad i was using a rod that i also use for tarpon fishing with smaller baits (pinfish, crabs, finger mullet, ect.) i was probably using tackle slightly heavier than these dudes. my other tarpon rod has 300 yards of 40 lb test, several feet of 100 lb, and several feet of 200 lb leader, i've had 100 lb broken before!!

  • Hey Capt. big fan of the show! I was wondering about good fishing spots for trout, redfish, snook, and tarpon in the Pine Island sound area, I have some maps if that helps....

    Best Regards,

    devin0116

  • The needle hair scene is very fantastic

With the Tarpon of the Republic of Korea is a similar fish

  • hey capt. wat kinda bait yall usin down der in flarda

  • Hey Capt, what's the best live bait to thrown on when ballooning for Tarpon?

  • Wow thats cool I live in port charlotte

  • when i get bored i get out my flyrod and go fish

  • what kind of baits are you guys using?

i live near canals like that in the keys and try to catch tarpon with balloons but never seem to catch any.

There are many out there from seeing them role and early in the morning at like 4:00 i saw a tarpon over six foot and had to weigh atleast 180 pounds just swimming next to some flood lights i had pointing in the water.

  • nice video when i go to florida we catch jackfish in a backyard canal

  • do you recommend or have a favorite center console boat

  • wats up capt chancey ....... wat pound suffix are yall using.

  • you suck.

cause your backyard is way better than mine.

  • wow I wished I had a backyard where I can fish all day. Fishing helps me relax and forget all my sorrows. I love it.

  • Hi Capt, in this vid you don't use a swivel... can you adv. when I don't need to use a swivel when I fish? Thks :)

  • The only time we ever use a swivel is when fishing spoons. Other than that I really don't like to use extra hardware if I don't have to.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • what main line are you using? it looks like braid

  • another killer show! man id love to have one of those south flordia canal propertys! id never leave my backyard!!! love it...

    -check out my vids-

  • hey Capt. Chancey whaat channel is your show on and when are new episodes?

  • he dont have a channel. his sho is on youtube...

  • Another good show Capt!

  • Is this freshwater or saltwater?

  • saltwater

  • I bet these fish are nothing compared to the 300 pound fish you guys get?

  • To be honest you can bring in a giant shark with the line they use. They are using metal lines which is like bringing in a baby on a piece of iron. It's easy as hell. Realize when they get a big fish and go all crazy with the rod? It's because if they did that with regular line it would fucking snap.

  • ....metal lines? defiantly not. that is a braided line, I believe he uses green power pro, and I'm guessing he is only using 30lb test. they don't use "metal line" when they doing the goliath grouper challenges either, they use 200lb mono leader.

  • haha thats wat i was thinking man

  • LOL i love it when Ben said YOU GOT PWNTTT

  • i wish my canal had this type of fish if i were to catch this type of fish i would have to drive up to the beach

  • whats a red catfish look like?

  • how much are houses there? i need a new holiday house,,

  • Next great video.

  • Damn id kill to have a canal like that in my backyard. or even 100 miles away from me. I would be posted up there all the time. Good video.

  • i wish my country would have this time of fish

  • 1st comment awesome vid guys :D
