  • Does anyone know the voltage/wattage of solar garden lights??? if you do know please reply to this. thank you!

  • u could prob buy a solar charger for ten bucks

  • it look's like a e.t. talking. -.-

  • 240p we meet again....

  • if i had a dollar for every pixel in this video i would have... 5 dollars

  • @qweqpo4224 i lol'd at that

  • where do i get solar cell in india? plz tell me

  • Some gadgets won't charge until you short the data wires on the USB socket.

  • @deelkar how do you do that? what should I look for?

  • @etchwriter Just add a switch or jumper wire to the remaining 2 USB connections, if the device won't charge. Of course it could be lack of voltage then, too.

it's usually the green and white wires you have to directly connect for this. Don't if your device doesn't require it, hence the suggestion of a switch.

  • I dont really understand 1:34 - 1:46 when you say " a black to the negative post, and a red to the positive post" What are the posts?

  • i made one. im in alaska. no sun at this time. darn

  • Thanks for posting this video. Very smart solution.

  • its kipkay's brother!

  • Hi i've followed all of your instructions but it won't charge my ipod! what should i do?

  • is it posible to power a dc motor whit this ?

  • how much amps is the output ?

  • how many volts would it need to charge a laptop?

  • Loved the video but you really need a new camera

  • Great idea using the Plastic Card Sleeves, would of never thought of that.

  • Why not just make your own gut instead of using or buying a solar light? It seems difficult or a hidden secret of how to make a solar gut or even to buy them.

  • no regulator?

  • @MrTranxistor OLD TECH

  • I made one nearly exactly like this and when I unplug my phone (Samsung Moment) it says it's still charging. Help?

  • this is great! I put my phone under my downstairs table lamp all night and the phone is charged in the morning! Saving me electricity bills from plugging it in to the wall.

  • @MJapan555 LOL.. At least your saving money..

  • @xbamboocha i realize u put that comment a long time ago but u would need a soldering iron.

  • Need a new camera

  • @andyrockism TO many volts? or amp? Explain, I'm bout to make one.

  • cool man

  • Time to go steal the neighbour's lawn lights.

  • @JozleMan So you're the one who took my lawn lights......!

  • @JozleMan LMAO, My thoughts exactly..

  • Very cool.

  • will it work with 2 solar panels if one is 4 volts and the other is 2 volt

  • If I use a regulatar, does that mean I can use any volts solar panel?

  • Good tips but very low quality video. :(

  • #FAIL

  • dont u need a diode?

  • @pepevdeos Fuck Green!

  • @DementedEeyore64 Poor choice of words... Without green you will be dust

  • @llSk8ll You need to re-check your words, without black green wouldn't exist! FUCK THE RIAA & GREEN.

  • @DementedEeyore64 Dude, get a life.

  • @DementedEeyore64 No you need to Re-Check your life... You would die without anything green in this world, No grass or trees means no existence! DUH

  • how did you connect the wires to the cell? (:

  • could this fry my ipod?

and when i took out the solar panels (i also get them from solar lights) there were two wires connected already and some of them have fallen off. I cant put new wires on it because the spots are covered in metal. what should i do?? :/

  • Just thnking... If you added a few capasitors this thing could store up the charge and release it when needed (at night) would be use ful for camping trips. Good quality capacitors or even High mAh rechargable batterys (AAx4) could really give you a good number of hours of usage when there is no light source.

  • use a volt meter, but according to that about 11 panels would make 12v.

  • how many panels do it takes to make 12v

  • sweet, i tryed to make one with a battery (using 2 cellphone batteries but my solar panel isnt big enough so i think ill just go without batteries.

  • not paralel because the voltage will not increase.link them in series to increase the voltage

  • This doesn't work unless you do it right.

  • Can this work on iPhone? I mean, i will soon buy a brand new iPhone...

  • Works, but you need iphone compitable cable.

  • Yep!

  • did the solar power device really damage your cell phone? because im debating on weather or not to do this. i need info.

  • Comment removed

  • ebay. 6 bux. search for "solor usb charger"

  • so i can connect two panels in sereies and two in parale as one big panel? im tryin to get as much voltage and amps from four, three volt panels.

  • if your building what he just did, you shouldnt overdue the voltage because 5 is the correct voltage. if you put more than, you will need somethign im not sure what its called at the moment, but it limits the power to 5 volts.

  • @15danny94 you mean a resistor?

  • lolz

  • And you, sir, are teaching stupidity!

  • im gonna steal all my neighbours solar garden lights and cover my roof with solar panels!

  • LOL That was my thought too hahaha. Awful big roof there though, I might have to clean out my entire township.

  • thats cool, you should try attaching batteries to its.

  • yes/

  • does it work with 2x

  • Does it also work with 10 Solar panels?

  • yes but if u wire then in series the u will have about 20v if you wire 2 in series then the rest in parallel to the first 2 then u can charge ur cell in about 30 seconds

  • are using the fuckin narrator

  • this will work with any thing that uses a USB connector

  • Or anything that uses 5VDC if you put the right connection on the end of a USB cable, male on the end that plugs into the female on the homebrew solar unit. I have one I made 3 yrs ago I use to power an old 70's transistor pocket radio that normally uses a 9V battery, works fine on the 3-5 v the cells put out. Back then I made it from solar calculators by removing the cells - had a half dozen promo calcs that worked crappy but the solar cells work good glued to the pocket radio to get AM and FM

  • I understand the technology you express in this video, but you left me confused as to whether you were using a USB plug as the title suggests or a micro plug or both. How about a closeup of the plug(s)?

  • Depends on what you need to use it for but that video shows a standard female USB socket so you can plug your existing cable (that you would normally plug into your PC USB female) into the cable and be able to use it for any USB-abled device. You have to know which contacts/wires to use of the USB cable soldered to the solar cells though, dont hook it to the data + and - wires or you'll fry it. You could even take a cable with USB male and ut a coaxial on it for a PSP or other that uses 5VDC

  • Congratulations on a successful application of solar power to everyday life. Also a thanks to You Tube for bringing this video to my attention.

I received your response to someone else's question in my email inbox, "Depends on..." . When I visited this video, two audios began playing simultaneously.

When I paused the video, one of the two audios kept playing. I waited until it finished then clicked play to actually hear the synchronized audio/video picture. Interesting!

  • too confusing

  • was that microsoft sam speaking :P

  • lol nice it does sound like him except that he can pronounce shiit

  • does it power a ipod?

  • yup, anything usb powered

  • that is cool

  • jjihhll9 you trying to be funny boy? cos i ain't laughing..

  • great idéa :) :)

  • You are a very, very, very smart man.

  • its from breakdotcom mate :P

  • and whoever uploaded at break probably stole it too

  • The video is well done, great tip. Unfortunately the quality is quite low, please invest in a new camera and avoid to compress so much the files you post.

  • Lol jjhhll9! i dont see a shortage of sun yet.

  • Well I have everything put together but the female USB connector. I dont have a voltage meter to test it with but I know it will produce power so it wont be long before I have a working product.

  • lol solar power lamps. no sun = dark and light is needed. lol dumb people

  • It charges by day light, keep energy stored and light up at night

  • cool thanks

  • great inspiration to save $50+ on a solar powered cell phone charger
