Victors of that period sound so much better than equivalent HMV pressings. Far less surface noise (the notorious HMV cotton flock caused a cracquele effect, sounding like frying bacon) even on well-worn records. German Electrola, part of the same family, made laminated records (like American and British Columbia) and are near silent too.
Wow, what a great luck to find it! Before I only heard Benny Meroff's instrumental version and loved it a lot. It's just awesome to find another version, especially with vocal! Thank you! "Ain't you Baby" was a nice bonus ;)
Maybe everyone else thinks it's an LP. Fabulous fabulous fabulous collection of stuff. You denoise all of these, or are they all mint copies, or both?
No LPs here -- just a light clean-up on 78RPM. I thought that second cut would get people's attention, since it is an unissued song. ....but it just produced yawns.
Do you have the Troubadours' Victor of "Marie" backed with "Love"? They're waltzes, but the most lovely, lush-sounding records. If you have them and could post them, yummy.
@Prozoot : No yawns from this "Victor Freak"! Have been trying to acquire Coon-Sanders' only V-38K issue for years and here you've posted one side of it...along with an unissued tune! What take of BVE 57498 is this? Discographical data, PUH-LEEZE! Thanks so much for posting.
I want the lyrics for this song, but can't find them anywhere =(

Is that Joe Sanders singing at the end? It sure sounds like him!

Great tuba work which was a hallmark of these great old bands. Glad younger
people are discovering this tuneful music all over again. I've loved it since
listening to my Dad's 1920's-30s records back in the 1940s. No faking it here
with synths or overdubs. These guys were MUSICIANS!

"Leaving the smiling skies" was probably a code for the traders to slowly sell the stocks on the stockmarket.

No yawns here. This was one of the great 20s bands as well as being pioneers in live early musical radio broadcasting.

It is wonderful to enjoy Coon -Sanders recordings in such a good form. They were really the kings of the rythm! Thanks.

Was this unissued tune on the TOM CD set?

I don't have any of the TOM CDs -- but I believe "Ain't You Baby" is on one of them. I can't help you on those waltzes.

Post all the Coon-Sanders you can! The TOM transfers/restorations were not flawless, whereas yours are.
