@zachjal Why would he? He's Kurt Rosenwinkel. It's great to see entusiasm from those who appreciate the genius of this man. For those that don't - they just don't know. For sure we don't need to defend Kurt and it's best not to bother a discourse with negative comments from people who are unreasonable and don't hear the music yet for some reason or another. It's so weird everybody is a critic on you tube. The negative critics probably can't play well so they use their words as a substitute.

kurt is great composer but,if you listen to any of his vids go about 3mins in and whatta ya know sounds the same as any one of the hundreds of his vids--not much in the way of personality .the modern jazz approach of pattern then cliche has already become threadbare and tiresome--oh well.
@miklos379 I have listened to Kurt for about 15 years now, perhaps close to everyday, and I dont recognize anything of what you said about his playing, esp. the pattern approach which I dont fit on Kurt at all. Still, I see your point on the scene as a whole with the pattern thing, but not at all on Kurts playing. Best, Sandemose
@miklos379 it makes you sound really ignorant when you reduce the playing of such an utter virtuoso to patterns and cliches. kurt, as everyone knows, is a master of his instrument and a brilliant soloist. if you hear it all as the same, the burden on you is to improve your ear, not for kurt to improve his playing.
@miklos379 that sounds like the type of tired/immature comment that would come from a young (yet earnest) jazz student who's still dealing w/ learning the basics of bop/swing, has teachers who understandably emphasize basics, and feels he/she has to "diss" more modern/creative players to appear hip to "the tradition." (which is ironic as it accompanies a vid of a tune by horace silver). realizing that kurt is a master firmly inside the "jazz tradition" will come with time my friend. oh well...
yo, does anyone else think some of the drumming is kind of distracting? and not really supportive of kurt? like the first bridge of the solo for example, the snare clicking thing.
great camera angle, Ive been working on comping formyself durring a solo which this will help with. also with understanding kurts wierd position switches heh
I would give anything to have the changes to this, I cant find them anywhere.

Kurt definitely checked out that Wes video of Nica's dream. 4:00 into it. And at the very beginning of his solo too. How cool!

shyampster 10 months ago
@shyampster Haha I'm really not seeing much of a likeness. And a JC-120 is my main amp.

@JoeHeiderGuitar
look at the silverface and all the controls, identical
the twin reverb is my main amp
shyampster 10 months ago
Well, this is great as usual. Hard to say for sure about that amp on the left but it looks quite a bit like a silverface 'drip edge' twin....
