Under the royalty, Ukraine existed even in the 10th century, and in the 10th century, Kyiv was the strongest city in Europe. I was in Russia last summer. Other than the center of St.Petersburg and Moscow the rest of the country is a shithole. The Russians might actually do the Ukrainians some good with their presence. I was born in Ukraine and I have recently lived there for one year and Ukraine is a complete mess. They have been forming their country for the past 20 years and still no luck in routing out corruption and establishing a solid government. A "Free Ukraine" is not going to change the fact that the country is in a stagnant state of economy. The Ukrainians should embrace the help of other Slavic countries.
