I agree. Someday humans will live in peace and love and will accept peoples difference and eliminate those who are extreme (such as terrorists or christian extremists in America). It will be a good day when the world comes together in 1 and shares their culture and technology and everything with everyone. I don't know if it will happen in my lifetime, but I know it will happen one day, because if we keep going like we are human civilization will meet a most violent end I fear.

@TSR1989FF Wow, you really need to study. Churchill was trying to secure Eastern Europe from the Soviet influence in WW2. Reason why he chose Italy while FDR want to land in France in 1943. Even in 1944 with Operation Overlord on the table, Churchill was still singing about taking some parts of Eastern Europe. Unfortunately for him, FDR got tired of it and focus on France.

The USSR (just them) Killed well in excess of 2.500.000 German Troops, & inflicted the most Crushing defeats on the Germans of the entire War (Battles of Moscow / Stalingrad / Kursk etc).
It's without Question that the Red Army's concept of "Deep Battle", completely defeated "Blitzkrieg", to which we all benefit today.

@TSR1989FF Not surprising since the Allies take their German enemy alive more often than the Soviet. The Red Army did fought a difficult front and won. Never less, The Red Army would never done it with the US and UK. Strategic USAAF and RAF both did more damage to Germany than the entire Red Army. With most of its industrial might gone, Germany still produce enough equipment to damage the Soviet and Allies. Image it with almost full capability and facing only one army. Allies need each other.

@916ppl Well Given the Russian's where fighting for their very existance (given the Germans aim was to ethnically purge & subjugate Russia) you can see why they decended on the Germans with unrivaled Brutality & often giving no quarter whatsoever (one comparison being how Free Polish Pilots fighting with the RAF in in Battle of Britain often shot or wing-clipped German pilots Parachutes after they'd Bailed out of hatrid).
The Germans were truly terrified of them, & often fought to the death.

And even bombs dropped on Japan had only 5 km radius of destruction.

@rwc297 He's Right about the Fact that the U.S. at the start only had a handful of Bombs to use until the mid 1950's (One of the Bombs Dropped on Japan used Material Recovered from a Surrendered German U-Boat which Ironically was heading for Japan for their own A-Bomb Project [Which was a great deal further from completion])
The U.S. In the Early days was Bomb Crazy (Ford even Designed a Atomic Powered Car, the"Ford Nuclion" Quite Insane it has to be said given our age of Motorway Pile-ups)

@TSR1989FF No he is not right. The US had three bombs in 1945 and he correctly listed where they were deployed. But the US conducted more tests in the late 40's and into the 50's.
1946 - operation Crossroads = 2 bombs
1948 - operation Sandstone = 3 bombs
1951 - operation Ranger = 5 bombs
Check out the Gallery of US nuclear tests. Between the end of WW2 and 1955 (mid 50's) there were 47 different detonations of nuclear bombs. Quite a few more than a handful.

i believe that the russian military like all others is just as capable of being beaten on any given day as any other army,( we in the u.s. included) but i doubt anyone could ever completely defeat the Russian people, they have proven themselves extraordinarily resilient and tough. their fighting spirit has yet to be seriously contested since ww2. i hope that all of this talk of who is best becomes unnecessary one day and we can all live in peace. pipe dreams i know!

I agree. Someday humans will live in peace and love and will accept peoples difference and eliminate those who are extreme (such as terrorists or christian extremists in America). It will be a good day when the world comes together in 1 and shares their culture and technology and everything with everyone. I don't know if it will happen in my lifetime, but I know it will happen one day, because if we keep going like we are human civilization will meet a most violent end I fear.
