Point #26: *A bunch of purely rhetorical stuff about honor, leaving freedom better than how we found it, amounting to essentially nothing of substance. With an appeal to finding a new monolithic military leader in the vein of George Washington.* You know, to lead us in revolt against the British again.
Bottom line, I fear that the militaristic doomsday christian neocon movement in America is dangerous, it is the beginnings of a christian fascist movement if its members are not careful.
Point #25: "This almost entirely male group of religious leaders agrees on one thing: God is the answer." Which even Glenn Beck would probably agree is not a whole lot of common ground from a religious standpoint. And is also actually a pretty irrelevant and vague point to make in regards to modern government. We don't live in a theocracy, and bronze age religious tomes do not provide anything close to a comprehensive framework for running a modern society.
Point #24: "Not about churches against each other, this is about GOd being in charge of us, not some government that exists in the 'real world' and serves 'necessary societal functions' and is 'democratically elected' and 'protects people's constitutional right not to have a religion or have religious values imposed on them.' This is about human beings being God's little playthings, and my appeal to God has nothing to do with manipulation or an appeal to archaic societal control mechanisms."
Point #23: "My whole life was a lie, I had wrecked my whole life, I had dishonored myself in every way." But I come to you today trying to sell books full of vague, empty rhetoric, and to promote viewership of my crazed conspiracy nonsense TV show, so that I can at least be a RICH s**tbag.
Point #22: "No lies in your life." Yeah I'm sure Glenn Beck has never talked ad nauseum about ridiculous conspiracy theories as if they were objective fact. On his Fox News show. Look it up. No surely Glenn Beck is the most intellectually honest man in existence. And the ignorant, scared bunny rabbits of his Tea Party are just as honest. They wouldn never leap to conclusions like "Obama is a fascist." There is nothing disingenuous or intellectually insulting about that.
Point #21: *A bunch of baloney about God and how he is in charge of us.* So we give up civil constitutional democratic government for the moral tyranny of a magical made up man in the sky, and an unregulated capitalist experiment in which corporations with no democratic accountability will run everything. Oh wait, we're already pretty much there because of people like these idiots falling for the manipulative lies of irredeemably and shamelessly corrupt Republican politicans.
Point #20: "Two choices: Does America go forward and the American experience expands, or does the experiment fail with us?" Again, kind of fear-mongering here, this is a very vague ultimatum to throw at these people. He's saying that America was intended to be a country with no government because all government does is hamper freedom, and if we don't get rid of government America has failed and will be a horrible country and will cease to be democratic. No government sounds undemocratic to me.
Point #18: "Every fear I have played since latching onto and nursing this Tea Party to it's current strength is as real and immediate as the iceberg that sunk the Titanic." Sure Glenn. Like when you said earlier that if we don't listen to you, America will cease to be democratic? That wasn't fear-mongering and playing on these people's paranoia?
Also it would be helpful if he explained what values and principles exactly should be uniting us. Specifics are more constructive than vague rhetoric Glenn.
Point #17: "Our values and our principles can unite us, in spite of disagreements." Sure that can happen. But our disagreements usually divide us. So really we have to find compromises.
Point #16: "We must defend those that we disagree with, but are honest and have integrity." Applause wasn't very enthusiastic for that. Then he talks about someone who spoke on "this stage" and "organized for our president" "is a democrat" I have no idea who he's talking about and honestly wonder why he wouldn't just say who it was.
Point #15: "We must advance or perish." I agree with that. We must advance scientifically, including teaching children actual science and not desperate christian revisionism. We must advance our socio-political structure, including improving the democratic process, increasing the transparency of political ;obbying, and remaining open to democratic socialist systems that have worked for other countries. We must advance our social views on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Point #14: "America is at a crossroads, we must collectively decide 'WHO ARE WE?'" Because America is not made up of individuals, we have to decide what culture we will all conform to. Is this guy serious? One second it's all liberty, liberty, liberty, oh but also we're going to legislate morality and everyone must conform to the white christian conservative version of American culture. That is the implication I gather from this.
Point #13: "Those words Abraham Lincoln spoke have no meaning on us today." ??? Maybe he mispoke, because I thought this whole speech was about the infallability of Americans from before the year 1900.
Point #12: "If any progressive or socialist policies are put in place in America by democratically elected politicians, America, apparently the world's only democracy, will no longer be democratic." Real logical there Becky.
Point #11: "The revolutionaries will have died in vain if we veer even slightly from the political and social vision of a bunch of slave-owning, 18th century white aristocratic men." So what, America will cease to exist? The revolutionaries weren't fighting thinking "my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great son's third generation Chinese-American Buddhist neighbour had better do his best to pretend he's a white colonial christian and believe what I believed."
Point #10: "We have to live exactly how 18th century colonials would have wanted us to, and subscribe to exactly their political beliefs, or at least the modern fundamentalist libertarian interpretation of their political beliefs." A bit regressive, no? I mean they had slavery back then, all non-British ethnicities were severely discriminated against, many of the Founding Fathers didn't even want democracy. And bottom line the world has changed and will continue to change.
Point #9: "The world will little note nor remember what we say here." Well at least you recognize how insignificant your little temper tantrum movement is.
Point #8: "Revolutionaries were the BOMB, no Americans since have been worthy." That's a little hard on modern Americans, I think. Sure we should respect them, but they weren't GODS, they just fought in a war as so many millions of humans have before and since, it was a war based on a very good idea and lead by brilliant men, but still just a war, not some mythological event.
Point #5: "America is an experiment. The experiment is that man can rule himself." Also government by the people, for the people. Also Constitutional rights protected by a federal government. Also, statement is problematic because many, many, many people demonstrate on a daily basis that they can't rule themselves. You have freedom, but it is limited in that you can't violate the rights of others, and you have to pay some taxes as a citizen, no matter how much you whine.
Point #3: "If you look at history, America has been both terribly good and terribly bad." Fair enough. Then he says we focus on the bad instead of learning from the bad and repairing the bad. I really think he should be more specific about what "bad" he is referring to. Reach out for the good that is in front of us. This is all empty rhetoric so far, no specifics.
OK, I'm going to try to go through this point by point.
Point #1: "Nothing to do with politics, everything to do with God." I guess in the sense that these many of these people want to legislate Christian morality and Christian prayer in public schools despite the seperation of church and state intended by the Founding Fathers and enshrined in the secular Constitution which can be equally applied to all Americans, whether religious or not.
i like this clown. does he do birthday parties? i cant pay him that much tho. i mean, he wont be making as much money as he does milking these grade-a morons
@RGOC2012 You must have been educated in the U.S. who gives shelter to liberal progressives that answer to idiot unions who produce morons like you who think everybody a clown that has honor, dignity, intelligence and critical thinking skills which gives you the award of "moron clown" as you are the byproduct of your moron society, a la "liberal arts studies" from K-thru college--4.7 gpa's--extra credit epic fails which union run schools produce 43 valedictorians at one epic fail graduation.
@akra1dernation hes still a fuckin dbag this was a year ago and i was fuckin wasted when i commented on this lol. hes. a. fuckin. Nark. and a. fake. faggot ass piece of trash.
@TheLongTimeObserver im not a liberal i dont believe in gun control, or taking peoples rights away for the enviornment and "global warming" but this guy is sellin some bullshit and your payin top dollar. This asshole works for fox news dude. They twist so much shit around and they pedal this guy up there as the truth teller and shit. Hes a fake, piece of shit nazi!
@readmymindhomey And, "is even worse than immigration"? If "The earth is The Lord's—and, the fulness thereof.", by what logic then, would immigration be seen as, bad?
You may know that, Henry David Thoreau was jailed—he refused to pay taxes to a govt which sought to exterminate the native population; if in the panoply of power, a fairly done conquest has its place, plainly, that's not to say that, that too, is not abused, . . .
. . . . was thus quieted, getting off at the next stop.
The Indians left so many of their babies on the pioneer's stoops that, the system of Indian schools was begun—they wanted better for their offspring, but, as Archbishop Trench has pointed out, their ancestors had gone so far from centers of the knowledge of G0D that, there was no return to the ways of doing and living which people naturally seek—conquest was the only thing remaining
And a similar set of facts operates upon the Moslem world
@readmymindhomey The indigenous American tribes are sometimes mentioned as being "the first americans"; inthat, mankind started from somewhere, at some point in time (who really cares about it) some people were not "land thieves".
I was once on a bus in Portland, and this dude began holding forth about how "the white man" stole the Indian's land, on and on; and at the length, Indian guy in long black hair, said: "I don't wanna sleep under a tree—WHY DON'T YOU SHUDDUP!"; and, the Dude was quiet
@readmymindhomey So, what would be the first rule, here—no immigration, no choice—wherever you're born, that's where you're destined to remain? How 'bout within, say, an island nation—would it be verboten, moving from cold old Scotland, to South wales? If you're born on Corsica, that's where you are required to stay?
@readmymindhomey For land and place gotten through conquest, by what form of logic—or, nonsense—would you claim illegality? It doesn't bear mention, . . . Buddy, ya need some book-larnin', . , . what is conquest?
The beginning of the end of the tea party. I was on board with the tea party when they were focused on the bailouts and shrinking government,. But not long after that they started holding rallies focused on religion. The problem? If you aren't focused on shrinking government, then it won't shrink.
all his fear mongering and paranoid undertones in everything he does isn't good for america right now. Also in an economic crisis, a lack of god and illegal immigration aren't the two biggest problems we face
@Thelookoutslookout ... Glenn Beck is no-body... its his message that is Honorable. if i don't know a person, i never assume what they are about. thank you.
He says it is about God at the beginning, and not about politics, but then throughout the whole speech he says how man can rule himself and not be ruled by someone.
Beck is not a christian. He's a mormon. Mormons are not christians. Evangelicals need to stop endorsing him and following him in faith based socio political movements. It amazes me how many so called Christians were there yoked with this guy who is part of the satanic mormon cult. All blinded by patriotism to the point that they could care less about even sharing the Gospel with this lost soul. Sad..
@yallfunnybunnies Is that so? What's so ridiculous about it? To the carnal minded maybe, but to those who have an ear, they'll hear and they'll repent for yoking with people like this. They'll see through the deception and the mormon agenda. You are not one of the ones that have an ear so the message is not to you because you don't want to know the truth. If you wanted to know the truth, you'd research what I said instead of just speaking from opinion. Have a great day.
@KakkoiGuy1 he has no agenda. i don't know whose been feeding you this crap but you damn sure are closed minded. see im an atheist. i believe in common sense. so far everything that beck has said is pretty logical. and no atheist are not evil. i know you're going to say that. we are the most peaceful people there is. you should research the history of this country and why we've became the great country we use to be. I bet you belive that the NWO is good for us huh?????
@yallfunnybunnies He does have an agenda. You're just too blind to see it. You will sooner or later though. I'm closed minded? I believe in God. How can I be. You're closed minded. I have to be open minded to even believe in God which means you have to be closed minded not to believe. Does that make sense? I think I got you in a pickle with that one. :) hahaha. As for peaceful, communist countries are antitheist like you and they aren't peaceful. I know the history of the United States
@KakkoiGuy1 actually adolf hitler is cathloic. and i love this country with all my heart. i don't think we will get anywhere with the closeminded thing or the religion thing. but i do believe in our FOUNDING FATHERS and the FOUNDING PRINCIPLES.
Trust and believe I know the history of this great country. I served it PROUDLY for many years in the armed services. So please don't tell me about this country and what it's history is. And to answer your question, NWO is not a good thing. It's happening though. Just like the book of Revelation stated...It's coming. The one world goverment, economy, and religion is at our doorsteps. And when you take the mark of the beast, you'll know for sure how real God is. You'll remember my words.
@KakkoiGuy1 then i don't understand why you dislike G. Beck. He's like a modern Paul Revere. He's trying to warn our fellow americans about whats coming our way and how to prepare ourselves.
@yallfunnybunnies No he's not, Glenn is a corporate shill that contributes to the pushing of conservative propaganda through outlets such as Fox News. I would be fine with Beck if he told the truth, but he doesn't, his job as well as everyone elses job on Fox is to take a story and push whatever the conservative view of it is instead of giving the people the truth.
I don't believe in the ''left'' or ''right'' paradigm, i focus on what is true and Glenn Beck is far from the truth.
Did he really just drop the G-bomb that early in the speech? Enough with this white horse prophecy mormon BS. America is NOT a christian nation and will never be a christian nation. Glenn Beck talks about individual freedom all day then says that it is not about politics and we have to go back to god? Does he want a theocracy? Do Glenn Beck and the tea party want all Americans to be christian? That is not freedom that is radical religion similar to the caliphate he is so afraid of...
Hyaenidae, Media Matters - journalistic integrity, you must be joking. Can you name one lie that Beck has told or are you just relying on MM and their like to give whatever twisted version of reality they have. They are so biased it nearly burns their pages. If they were serious journalists they would investigate some of the far left propaganda rag sheets instead of spending all their time bashing FOX personalities earning the George Soros money.
@bchaflingers Beck's lies? I'm getting tired of doing the research for you, but here you go. -January 31st, 2011 in his radio program: "Many of the 9/11 conspirators came from the Muslim Brotherhood, including Osama bin Laden, Ayman Zawahiri and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed."
Like I said, half-truths: Brookings Institution writes: "The Brotherhood renounced violence years ago. (Bin Laden and Al Zawahiri) have denounced it for DECADES as too soft and a cat’s paw of Mubarak and the United States."
"This town (Wilmington, Ohio) hasn’t taken any money from the government. They don’t want any money from the government."
The City of Wilmington's public records show that they did receive federal assistance, including money from the federal stimulus bill that Beck rails against.
"The government is trying to now close the Lincoln Memorial for any kind of large gatherings."
Since the Lincoln Memorial is administered by the National Park Service, we found out from Margie Ortiz, National Park Service Spokeswoman that "There is absolutely no attempt by the government to restrict gatherings at the Lincoln Memorial or at any of our sites," said Ortiz. "There is zero basis for his claim."
- December 3rd, 2009 in his Fox News Channel show, he said:
SEIU labor union President Andy Stern is "the most frequent visitor" at the White House.
Stern visited a total of 24 times between January 20th and August 31st, 2009. Among those who visited MORE frequently than Stern, according to White House visitor logs, were Lewis (Lee) Sachs, counselor to Treasury Secetary Timothy Geithner, 92 visits; associate AG Tom Perrelli, 49 visits; and many more.
@bchaflingers (More of Beck's lies as you requested)
- November 30th, 2009 on his Fox News show, Glenn Beck said:
"...with President Obama: Under 10 percent of his appointees have any experience in the private sector."
More than one in four senior Obama administration officials have experience as business executives, according to a June 2009 study by National Journal. That's at least three times higher than the level claimed by Beck. And that doesn't even count those in private law practice
- On June 10th, 2009 in his Fox News program, he came up with this easily refuted gem:
"Why do we have automatic citizenship upon birth? We're the only country in the world that has it."
NumbersUSA, a group dedicated to reducing immigration (and backs H.R. 1868 to change this law) says that there are 33 countries that offer automatic, unconditional citizenship to children born within their borders, including Canada and Brazil.
@bchaflingers By the way, I am an Independent, and I have great respect for what the Tea Party has accomplished, I am just disappointed with some in their ranks, as I am with some in more Liberal or more Centrist ranks. So stop stereotyping me because I disagree with you about Glenn Beck.
Now, maybe you can return the favor and do some research for me: show me the "lies" and "twisted reality" of Media Matters for America.
The only way you can honor Martin Luther King is to never use his name again Beck. He stood for everything you tell Americans to fear and hate.
"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."-MLK What would that fat crybaby hate monger say to that quote if MLK were alive today?
Beck and the Tea Party should be angry that: one in seven Americans lives below the government's poverty line for a family of four ($21,954), a level not seen since the '60s. More than 20% of children are poor. Between 1979 and 2007, average after-tax incomes for the top 1% rose by 281% ($973,100) while the middle 20% of Americans saw only a 25% increase ($11,200) and the bottom fifth only 16% ($2,400).
Where were you folks when we were getting the shit kicked out of us in the streets from 1999 to 2008 (Seattle, DC, etc.), trying to protect the Constitution from Corporatocracy? Oh yeah, sitting at home, calling us "Anarchists." But when you rally to a cause, it's "Patriotism." And you wonder why people see race as a factor, because nothing's changed except the color of the President's skin.
@hyaenidae This rally was not about politics, it was about American values and the American way of life and being truthful and honest. Your comments are totally irrevelant to the rally.
@bchaflingers I understand that. It's not only my comments but my concerns for my country and Her Constitution which are based in uniquely American values, including honesty and truthfulness, with each other, and with ourselves. You see me as irrelevant because you have a preconceived notion of me, not what I am.
germany 1932.......depression, unemployment, fear, and a growing sense of a country lost in a changing world. hitler appears with a fiery speech about how great germans are and how he knows how to fix it. america 2010....... depression, unemployment, fear, and a growing sense of a country lost in a changing world. will poeple follow this man into an unforgivable future or will we wake up before it's too late?????????
Glenn Beck is truly an honorable man continuing 2inspire millions. He has achieved wisdom thru adversity&experience, not thru academia (&yet reads everything possible). He has become a wise man who knows that people will rise 2 greatness when we expect more from ourselves, making the best decision possible. The decision made w/honor will always result in the correct end, even thou it may always b yur expected result. He continues to champion freedom, for his children's sake, no matter the fire.
@FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7 That's an intelligent response. But, honestly, thank you for keeping your comment family friendly. Have you ever actually listened to him in entirety? (Not just the portions that Moveon.org uses to perpetuate him as a "hater".) Let's see if you will give this a chance. Try searching for the "Glenn Beck 8/28 Letter To Daughter Speech" in You tube. Let's see if you are as open minded as you think you are.
@naupaka1023 Thank you for supporting Beck. Too many places like Media Matters are all lies and mistruths and the left believes their every word. The foolish people will find out how right Beck was as time goes on, but I'll bet Media Matters or Moveon will never apologize for their lies. They are truly disgusting in their hatred.
@bchaflingers I find the exact opposite to be true: Beck manipulates using implication, hyperbole and outright lies, and that many believe his every word; I'll bet he never apologizes for his lies. Meanwhile, I find Media Matters to be a very important voice for journalistic integrity. They use reason and facts, and Glenn uses insinuation and half-truths. And yes, I do watch his show and listen to his radio program. His biggest tool is appealing to emotion.
@naupaka1023@naupaka1023 Thank you for supporting Beck. Too many places like Media Matters are all lies and mistruths and the left believes their every word. The foolish people will find out how right Beck was as time goes on, but I'll bet Media Matters or Moveon will never apologize for their lies. They are truly disgusting in their hatred.
So man should govern himself in every way except for morality because he can't be trusted with his own decisions and how he should act on a day to day basis? But the bible, that enforces a blind following without question and happens to endorce slavery, is a much better alternative... Yes... Beck makes a perfectly reasonable arguement.
I'm really sick of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck and their empty rhetoric. Glenn said on his radio show 'if you see the words social justice in your church you should leave the church'. Does Glenn know what Martin Luther King was all about? Does he know what Jesus was about. Surely they both believed in social justice. Having Glenn make this speech makes me sick. What a moron.
Sarah Palin. Maybe she is not Catholic now, BUT she is very good girl and she will be Catholic in heaven, because in heaven everybody is Catholic, even God The Father is Catholic. What about you my friend? If you want to go to heaven, you have two choices. Become catholic now or in purgatory. Jews will become Catholic in purgatory, but some of them are hurrying to become Catholic earlier. It means here. If the majority of Jews were Catholic now then Palestinians would be free now and happy.
@persianCAREED actually, they were clapping at the perfect time, they were clapping for the people who served one way or another for this country, and for the idea of what America stands for. I think YOU are the one who didn't understand what he was saying.
It's interesting, this desire to return to the Founding Father's vision/dream. The Founding Fathers originally wanted a country where only white male landowners could vote and hold government office. I think we have out grown that dream.
why are people so afraid to talk about god he is real. Any one who heard this and was offended by it knows their fate and is only afraid of the truth.
@wtfdoihavetodohere well that's your choice and i am a believer so you can't break me with your silly ignorant words i know where i will be when my time comes so gode bless you n have a nice day.
What a vague hodge podge o crap- he's all over the place.- Is he just throwing himself a party ????? - ha ha ha :) - Weak weak crap - Is he always this lame???
It's hard to tell what kind of government Glenn Beck wants. He praises the founding fathers and the constitution, and then completely ignores the 1st Amendment.
What does he ignore about the first amendment? He believes in freedom of speech and the press, he MOST CERTAINLY doesn't advocate a state religion, he believes in the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Those are the only issues addressed by the first amendment.
@qpwillie , I'm referring to the "Establishment Clause" of the 1st Amendment.
Glenn Beck is trying to insert christian culture and dogma into our political system. Our country was NOT founded on christian principles, nor was it intended to be a religious government. It was intended to be a religious-LESS government. Why else would they include the Establishment Clause as they did?
How can Glenn Beck insert anyhting into our political system? Can you? You have the same power to do so as Glenn does.
Yes, if you study the REAL history of the intent of the founders, you'll find that it was based on Christian principles. The REAL history means reading the actual letters written by the founders at that time.
Also read the article at law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/estabinto.htm
The intent and origin of the establishment clause is not something you can just read or listen to some far left professor. It has to be studied.
You clearly know nothing about Glenn Beck other than the propaganda about him. If you did, you'd know what he was saying. You'd know why there were Muslim Imams behind the podium at the rally along with the other clergymen and why he tells his good friend who is an atheist, "whatever it is you put your trust in, turn to it.".
King George had instituted the Anglican church as the official denomination of England. You couldn't be a Catholic or any other denomination. The founders wanted to be very sure that this government couldn't do that. That's why the first amendment states that CONGRESS cannot establish a particular religion and equally important, NOBODY can prohibit anybody from worshiping when, how and WHERE they choose to do so.
@qpwillie , Yes that sounds correct. Our gov't is a SECULAR one, not a religious one. And ironically that's why no'one is trying to take away the right of christians, and other folks, to practice their religions.
Oh, to the contrary. There are many instances where a Christian community wants to have the ten commandments in front of their court house and people throw a fit because they think they're trying to get congress to pass laws regarding the establishment a religion. Now, we all know that if somebody wanted to put a passage from the Quran there, those same people would be screaming "freedom of religion!!!" to the top of their lungs.
@qpwillie , If you would like to display the ten commandments, that's fine and everyone agrees that you're free to do so...... in a private place. They have no place whatsoever in a public courthouse. Putting them in our courthouses, just like putting god on our money and in our pledge of allegiance, represents a slow eroding away of the 1st amendment because people get the impression that this is a christian nation.
And the Quran should be treated no differently. Don't be ridiculous.
go watch "and the walls come tumbling down" parts 1 and 2 and you might wake up, until you watch parts 1 and 2 you will not wake up and see whats really going on behind the scenes in this country
It's ironic that he's says that man can rule himself, but at the same time bends over to the will of a theoretical being. If he's such a fan of the founders of the nation then he should know that they put separation of church and state in the constitution for a reason. Reason being that faith and morals have absolutely nothing to do with eachother and when you blindly follow a "higher power", then you lower yourself and your personal freedoms. Fuck Beck.
You know, if you had a decent democracy those nuts would be able to create their own political party. That way the rest of you wouldn't have to deal idiots like these.
@mattb127 Bush had just got into office...I believe the previous President had 8 years to connect the dots? 1.3 million people killed by Bush...oh please do explain...I can't wait to hear your answer...
The majority of people like this video, but not by much 68 to 42 as I count. I like those odds more right than left but not all right and no left. Since both sides are needed to push this country forward.
@persianCAREED actually, they were clapping at the perfect time, they were clapping for the people who served one way or another for this country, and for the idea of what America stands for. I think YOU are the one who didn't understand what he was saying.
@mattb127 matty...that is not a foreign policy...that is an answer to protect your people. Are you serious? Read slowly here...it might set in...Since the 70's the radical muslums have declared war on the free world....infidels to them. No President dared stand up to them...how unpopular it would be to bleeding hearts such as yourself. Finally George W Bush did say NO MORE! and guess what doormatty....there was not one successful attack on the U.S. after 9-1 with Bush on watch....
@LondonBobby4 say what you will son but he kept you safe. He 'accepted' their call for war...and he was successful....that is 'not' a foreign policy...so try again...name 'one'
God is NOT the answer. We need someone to lead us who does not want to kill anyone who does not worship/agree with him, one who is tolerant of EVERYONE, gay, homosexual, muslims, EVERYONE; we need someone who is not biased in his leadership and does not do "good" things because god will give him treats in heaven, we need someone who will be willing to take up the shit with the common man and help make the US better than what it is, and once that's done we can help others.
Don't let this man fool you. He claims to be libertarian, but he is a neocon. NOT A TRUE CONSERVATIVE!!! Neocons are almost liberal in ideals. He puts fear into the american society. And through fear the neocons have done what they wanted; to create a larger, more central, more authoritarian, and more totalitarian government.
Excuse me for not being shocked your opinions come from professors.
You know anybody that didn't start life as a fetus? That's a logical fallacy. At what point does that "lump of cells" have rights? Birth? They're still completely dependent on the mother. How bout 20 years old? 30? When does mom not get to cut her innocent child's head off?
I own my wallet too, can I kill anybody dependent on my tax dollars? She owns her body, which means she owns the consequences.
@mattb127 No-one ever said Iraq attacked us mattyboy. You won't choose to see it but we're not actually fighting Iraq. You throw a piece of cheese out on the floor and the rats come running. 'Rats' is a metephor for terrorists...and guess what...they came running. 'and', the good people in Iraq hate war too..and yet...they crave Liberty...proof : they showed-up to the voting poles in large numbers even with their lives at risk. Bet you won't acknowledge that eh Mattboy?
6:58 "who are we? advance or parish?" So we ether start being all the same and thinking the same, or we die different? This is the rebirth of a new form of imperialism. I like how he trys to say the media is shit, the media cant report well. YOU WORK FOR FOX NEWS YOU LIMY FUCK. Your life is a lie glenn beck. You claim to be a regular man. Loose your money and your fame then talk about god.
"Before the victory is won, some will be misunderstood. Some will be dismissed as dangerous rabble-rousers and agitators. Some will be called reds and Communists merely because they believe in economic justice and the brotherhood of man. But we shall overcome."
@TLydon008 ' economic justice and the brotherhood of man'...ok so I understand a brotherhood of man/women; meaning all created equal and each has unailiable rights and are protected as such..but by 'economic justice'...I suspect that means if you want more what I have earned then the Government should take from me and give to you....uh-huh....nothing socialist about that my friend...ahem!
Whole speech amounts to vague rheotric about honor, and an assertation that God and dead colonials are in charge of us, not us.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #26: *A bunch of purely rhetorical stuff about honor, leaving freedom better than how we found it, amounting to essentially nothing of substance. With an appeal to finding a new monolithic military leader in the vein of George Washington.* You know, to lead us in revolt against the British again.
Bottom line, I fear that the militaristic doomsday christian neocon movement in America is dangerous, it is the beginnings of a christian fascist movement if its members are not careful.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #25: "This almost entirely male group of religious leaders agrees on one thing: God is the answer." Which even Glenn Beck would probably agree is not a whole lot of common ground from a religious standpoint. And is also actually a pretty irrelevant and vague point to make in regards to modern government. We don't live in a theocracy, and bronze age religious tomes do not provide anything close to a comprehensive framework for running a modern society.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #24: "Not about churches against each other, this is about GOd being in charge of us, not some government that exists in the 'real world' and serves 'necessary societal functions' and is 'democratically elected' and 'protects people's constitutional right not to have a religion or have religious values imposed on them.' This is about human beings being God's little playthings, and my appeal to God has nothing to do with manipulation or an appeal to archaic societal control mechanisms."
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #23: "My whole life was a lie, I had wrecked my whole life, I had dishonored myself in every way." But I come to you today trying to sell books full of vague, empty rhetoric, and to promote viewership of my crazed conspiracy nonsense TV show, so that I can at least be a RICH s**tbag.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #22: "No lies in your life." Yeah I'm sure Glenn Beck has never talked ad nauseum about ridiculous conspiracy theories as if they were objective fact. On his Fox News show. Look it up. No surely Glenn Beck is the most intellectually honest man in existence. And the ignorant, scared bunny rabbits of his Tea Party are just as honest. They wouldn never leap to conclusions like "Obama is a fascist." There is nothing disingenuous or intellectually insulting about that.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #21: *A bunch of baloney about God and how he is in charge of us.* So we give up civil constitutional democratic government for the moral tyranny of a magical made up man in the sky, and an unregulated capitalist experiment in which corporations with no democratic accountability will run everything. Oh wait, we're already pretty much there because of people like these idiots falling for the manipulative lies of irredeemably and shamelessly corrupt Republican politicans.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #20: "Two choices: Does America go forward and the American experience expands, or does the experiment fail with us?" Again, kind of fear-mongering here, this is a very vague ultimatum to throw at these people. He's saying that America was intended to be a country with no government because all government does is hamper freedom, and if we don't get rid of government America has failed and will be a horrible country and will cease to be democratic. No government sounds undemocratic to me.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #19: "We must as a people strengthen our spirit." Really pretty vague there Beck. Kind of unhelpful.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #18: "Every fear I have played since latching onto and nursing this Tea Party to it's current strength is as real and immediate as the iceberg that sunk the Titanic." Sure Glenn. Like when you said earlier that if we don't listen to you, America will cease to be democratic? That wasn't fear-mongering and playing on these people's paranoia?
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Also it would be helpful if he explained what values and principles exactly should be uniting us. Specifics are more constructive than vague rhetoric Glenn.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #17: "Our values and our principles can unite us, in spite of disagreements." Sure that can happen. But our disagreements usually divide us. So really we have to find compromises.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #16: "We must defend those that we disagree with, but are honest and have integrity." Applause wasn't very enthusiastic for that. Then he talks about someone who spoke on "this stage" and "organized for our president" "is a democrat" I have no idea who he's talking about and honestly wonder why he wouldn't just say who it was.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #15: "We must advance or perish." I agree with that. We must advance scientifically, including teaching children actual science and not desperate christian revisionism. We must advance our socio-political structure, including improving the democratic process, increasing the transparency of political ;obbying, and remaining open to democratic socialist systems that have worked for other countries. We must advance our social views on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #14: "America is at a crossroads, we must collectively decide 'WHO ARE WE?'" Because America is not made up of individuals, we have to decide what culture we will all conform to. Is this guy serious? One second it's all liberty, liberty, liberty, oh but also we're going to legislate morality and everyone must conform to the white christian conservative version of American culture. That is the implication I gather from this.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #13: "Those words Abraham Lincoln spoke have no meaning on us today." ??? Maybe he mispoke, because I thought this whole speech was about the infallability of Americans from before the year 1900.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #12: "If any progressive or socialist policies are put in place in America by democratically elected politicians, America, apparently the world's only democracy, will no longer be democratic." Real logical there Becky.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
"There had better still be slavery too."
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #11: "The revolutionaries will have died in vain if we veer even slightly from the political and social vision of a bunch of slave-owning, 18th century white aristocratic men." So what, America will cease to exist? The revolutionaries weren't fighting thinking "my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great son's third generation Chinese-American Buddhist neighbour had better do his best to pretend he's a white colonial christian and believe what I believed."
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #10: "We have to live exactly how 18th century colonials would have wanted us to, and subscribe to exactly their political beliefs, or at least the modern fundamentalist libertarian interpretation of their political beliefs." A bit regressive, no? I mean they had slavery back then, all non-British ethnicities were severely discriminated against, many of the Founding Fathers didn't even want democracy. And bottom line the world has changed and will continue to change.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #9: "The world will little note nor remember what we say here." Well at least you recognize how insignificant your little temper tantrum movement is.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #8: "Revolutionaries were the BOMB, no Americans since have been worthy." That's a little hard on modern Americans, I think. Sure we should respect them, but they weren't GODS, they just fought in a war as so many millions of humans have before and since, it was a war based on a very good idea and lead by brilliant men, but still just a war, not some mythological event.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #7: "I have Dream" Speech <<< Battle Hymn of the Republic
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #6: "The version of America I have built in my head must be preserved."
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #5: "America is an experiment. The experiment is that man can rule himself." Also government by the people, for the people. Also Constitutional rights protected by a federal government. Also, statement is problematic because many, many, many people demonstrate on a daily basis that they can't rule themselves. You have freedom, but it is limited in that you can't violate the rights of others, and you have to pay some taxes as a citizen, no matter how much you whine.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #4: "George Washington=general, fought, had sort of a lazy attitude on Constitution" Fine.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #3: "If you look at history, America has been both terribly good and terribly bad." Fair enough. Then he says we focus on the bad instead of learning from the bad and repairing the bad. I really think he should be more specific about what "bad" he is referring to. Reach out for the good that is in front of us. This is all empty rhetoric so far, no specifics.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
Point #2: "Turning our face back to the values and principles that made us great." OK, he doesn't explain what he meant by that.
38Gaucho 1 week ago
OK, I'm going to try to go through this point by point.
Point #1: "Nothing to do with politics, everything to do with God." I guess in the sense that these many of these people want to legislate Christian morality and Christian prayer in public schools despite the seperation of church and state intended by the Founding Fathers and enshrined in the secular Constitution which can be equally applied to all Americans, whether religious or not.
Is Beck referring to Mormon God though?

@readmymindhomey And, "is even worse than immigration"? If "The earth is The Lord's—and, the fulness thereof.", by what logic then, would immigration be seen as, bad?
You may know that, Henry David Thoreau was jailed—he refused to pay taxes to a govt which sought to exterminate the native population; if in the panoply of power, a fairly done conquest has its place, plainly, that's not to say that, that too, is not abused, . . .
phillipgaley 5 months ago
. . . . was thus quieted, getting off at the next stop.
And a similar set of facts operates upon the Moslem world
phillipgaley 5 months ago
@readmymindhomey The indigenous American tribes are sometimes mentioned as being "the first americans"; inthat, mankind started from somewhere, at some point in time (who really cares about it) some people were not "land thieves".
I was once on a bus in Portland, and this dude began holding forth about how "the white man" stole the Indian's land, on and on; and at the length, Indian guy in long black hair, said: "I don't wanna sleep under a tree—WHY DON'T YOU SHUDDUP!"; and, the Dude was quiet
phillipgaley 5 months ago
@readmymindhomey So, what would be the first rule, here—no immigration, no choice—wherever you're born, that's where you're destined to remain? How 'bout within, say, an island nation—would it be verboten, moving from cold old Scotland, to South wales? If you're born on Corsica, that's where you are required to stay?
phillipgaley 5 months ago
@readmymindhomey For land and place gotten through conquest, by what form of logic—or, nonsense—would you claim illegality? It doesn't bear mention, . . . Buddy, ya need some book-larnin', . , . what is conquest?

@KakkoiGuy1 he has no agenda. i don't know whose been feeding you this crap but you damn sure are closed minded. see im an atheist. i believe in common sense. so far everything that beck has said is pretty logical. and no atheist are not evil. i know you're going to say that. we are the most peaceful people there is. you should research the history of this country and why we've became the great country we use to be. @yallfunnybunnies He does have an agenda. You're just too blind to see it. You will sooner or later though. I'm closed minded? I believe in God. How can I be. You're closed minded. @yallfunnybunnies No he's not, Glenn is a corporate shill that contributes to the pushing of conservative propaganda through outlets such as Fox News. Hyaenidae, Media Matters - journalistic integrity, you must be joking. Can you name one lie that Beck has told or are you just relying on MM and their like to give whatever twisted version of reality they have. They are so biased it nearly burns their pages.

The City of Wilmington's public records show that they did receive federal assistance, including money from the federal stimulus bill that Beck rails against.

Among those who visited MORE frequently than Stern, according to White House visitor logs, were Lewis (Lee) Sachs, counselor to Treasury Secetary Timothy Geithner, 92 visits; associate AG Tom Perrelli, 49 visits; and many more.

@bchaflingers (I could go on, but I'll stop here)
- On June 10th, 2009 in his Fox News program, he came up with this easily refuted gem:
"Why do we have automatic citizenship upon birth? We're the only country in the world that has it."
NumbersUSA, a group dedicated to reducing immigration (and backs H.R. 1868 to change this law) says that there are 33 countries that offer automatic, unconditional citizenship to children born within their borders, including Canada and Brazil.

The only way you can honor Martin Luther King is to never use his name again Beck. He stood for everything you tell Americans to fear and hate.

What about you my friend? If you want to go to heaven, you have two choices. Become catholic now or in purgatory. Jews will become Catholic in purgatory, but some of them are hurrying to become Catholic earlier. It means here. It's interesting, this desire to return to the Founding Father's vision/dream. The Founding Fathers originally wanted a country where only white male landowners could vote and hold government office. I think we have out grown that dream.

@AVilo84 , No disbeliever is afraid of god, or anything else that doesn't exist. Rather, they are afraid of the nut-jobs who DO believe in god.

@farrakhm16
It wasn't a political rally. That was made clear from the beginning. It's wasn't intended to be an occasion for discussing political issues.

dChains,
Before you make accusation and rhetoric that has no value or foundation try to back up your beliefs by answering these questions with fact please
How is Glenn full of it?
How is he a liar, and what has he Lied about, Please list?
How is He a racist, and what has he said that is racist?
How are we dumb Americans when WE know the Constitution and the bills that are being voted on better than most Congressmen?
You need to educate yourself in your own beliefs my friend.

What does believing in God have to do with "restoring honor"?
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
It's hard to tell what kind of government Glenn Beck wants. He praises the founding fathers and the constitution, and then completely ignores the 1st Amendment.
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
What does he ignore about the first amendment? He believes in freedom of speech and the press, he MOST CERTAINLY doesn't advocate a state religion, he believes in the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Those are the only issues addressed by the first amendment.
qpwillie 1 year ago
@qpwillie , I'm referring to the "Establishment Clause" of the 1st Amendment.
Glenn Beck is trying to insert christian culture and dogma into our political system. Our country was NOT founded on christian principles, nor was it intended to be a religious government. It was intended to be a religious-LESS government. Why else would they include the Establishment Clause as they did?
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
How can Glenn Beck insert anyhting into our political system? Can you? You have the same power to do so as Glenn does.
Yes, if you study the REAL history of the intent of the founders, you'll find that it was based on Christian principles. The REAL history means reading the actual letters written by the founders at that time.
Also read the article at law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/estabinto.htm
qpwillie 1 year ago
@qpwillie , So.... are you saying the Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment is not "real"? Or was not the intent of the founding fathers?
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
The intent and origin of the establishment clause is not something you can just read or listen to some far left professor. It has to be studied.
You clearly know nothing about Glenn Beck other than the propaganda about him. If you did, you'd know what he was saying. You'd know why there were Muslim Imams behind the podium at the rally along with the other clergymen and why he tells his good friend who is an atheist, "whatever it is you put your trust in, turn to it.".
qpwillie 1 year ago
@qpwillie , Ok then, what was the intent of the Establishment Clause?
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
You and I could argue about it from now on. Go study it.
qpwillie 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
King George had instituted the Anglican church as the official denomination of England. You couldn't be a Catholic or any other denomination. The founders wanted to be very sure that this government couldn't do that. That's why the first amendment states that CONGRESS cannot establish a particular religion and equally important, NOBODY can prohibit anybody from worshiping when, how and WHERE they choose to do so.
qpwillie 1 year ago
@qpwillie , Yes that sounds correct. Our gov't is a SECULAR one, not a religious one. And ironically that's why no'one is trying to take away the right of christians, and other folks, to practice their religions.
wtfdoihavetodohere 1 year ago
@wtfdoihavetodohere
Oh, to the contrary. There are many instances where a Christian community wants to have the ten commandments in front of their court house and people throw a fit because they think they're trying to get congress to pass laws regarding the establishment a religion. Now, we all know that if somebody wanted to put a passage from the Quran there, those same people would be screaming "freedom of religion!!!" to the top of their lungs.
qpwillie 1 year ago
@qpwillie , If you would like to display the ten commandments, that's fine and everyone agrees that you're free to do so...... in a private place. They have no place whatsoever in a public courthouse. Putting them in our courthouses, just like putting god on our money and in our pledge of allegiance, represents a slow eroding away of the 1st amendment because people get the impression that this is a christian nation.
And the Quran should be treated no differently. Don't be ridiculous.

Fuck Beck.

Sad that So Many Americans do Not Know that people wanting Freedom of Religion are the Ones who Started the USA.
The Writers of the Declaration of Independence Believed that God was Helping them.
Without that Belief, they would Never have written those Founding Documents.
3martijns 1 year ago
God is NOT the answer. We need someone to lead us who does not want to kill anyone who does not worship/agree with him, one who is tolerant of EVERYONE, gay, homosexual, muslims, EVERYONE; we need someone who is not biased in his leadership and does not do "good" things because god will give him treats in heaven, we need someone who will be willing to take up the shit with the common man and help make the US better than what it is, and once that's done we can help others.

Why does he have two different microphones, one around the ear, and two on the podium. This doesn't make sense.

@bighaben I think the one on the podium transmits what he's saying to the media cameras and the one on his ear just goes through the speakers.
