  • @DaFreyzaz - Well spoke, brother!

I wish my summer was like this.

  • Great music...somewhat ruined by American cunts though.

  • yo this is how NO ONE else does it

  • I like this

  • What album is this on? Or is it on an EP.

  • @Adolfmacaque brace yourself ep. almost bought on vinyl a year ago but didnt have $15.

  • @mattehFLCL

Do you know where to find a vinyl of this (or any album by Mike)? I imagine $15 was a lucky find.

  • @skulleton well im pretty sure amoeba in hollywood would have one or backside records here in burbank. if you don't live in the area then idk where.

  • @mattehFLCL

I'm in SF, so I'll check the Amoeba here.

  • @skulleton im sure they would have it if it's as big as the one here which is what i'm assuming.

  • hooverrrr

    ha

  • 3 people can't handle these sick cuts

  • Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.

  • @GurtTarctor

"Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." An interesting quote, but I disagree(sort of). While it may be difficult to reduce a piece to its core components, there is so much to be gained by trying. Analyzing "good" music tells us a lot about our own psychology.

    @culvre

It's possible to explain why people might like it, which is the same of explaining why it's "good", because "good" refers to the listeners opinion of it.

  • @GurtTarctor ..."didn't Elvis Costello say that"

  • Hell yes this is a great song

  • good combo in u-ziq's great music. that's what makes it stand out from most

  • this is the sound of my brain on fire

  • feeling the bass at the start

  • a few pages ago, someone said "you have to understand this kind of music to like it" which, while being absolutely true, is to a high degree arrogant as fuck. consider for a moment the presumption and elitism implied. it's a shame that we cannot in human language express how much more electronic music has to offer the mind, without resorting to using such statements.

it's like to trying to explain the depth of a rothko or the beauty of a kandinsky.

  • @culvre

"it's like to trying to explain the depth of a rothko or the beauty of a kandinsky."

Something wrong with this? ALL works of art were intended to be interpreted. Only by trying to "explain" the purpose and meaning of the art do we gain a true understanding of it. It's also much more enjoyable that way.

  • @skulleton explanation and interpretation are two different things. i'm talking about how it is not possible to "explain" why this track, for example, is so good.

  • @skulleton why might people like it? i don't think it is possible to explain that. electronic music is less emotional than it is abstract and intellectual and, when asked, i cannot explain to people why i am passionate about it. i am always at a loss for words. the most i can muster is maybe "it's just GOOD." , or "because it's art."

  • yo this is how us tough black boys do it

  • 10+ years ahead of its time - tune and graphic!

  • ...este ruido me gusta! Hoy en la Cueva mientras llueve.

  • Super noodles.

  • sublimeness in my ears!

  • pure class

  • Great...

This music is from musicians to musicians,so if you like it, congratulations, you can be a DJ

  • a computer and a sampler is all you need to make this music, just buy a good sampler an esx a mpc just do it, trust me, learn it like a guitar, practice, you can do it.

  • @shenmue4life along with a cunt load of talent

  • @barehotmash creativity is what you mean

  • @barehotmash Aha~ you had me at "cuntload".

  • on the dictionary:

    beatiful : mu-ziq - summer living

  • u have to understand this kind of music to like it ;)

  • not really I understand it, but I know people who dont but they still listen.

Great music can be appreciated by all, some choose not to appreciate it.

    Peace

  • yo this is how us nerdy white boys do it

  • made me lol :p

  • you damn right...and we love it.

  • @shenmue4life

one of the best comments ive read, cheers!

  • @shenmue4life THIS IS HOW YOU NERDY WHITE BOYS WISH TO SOUND LIKE

  • @K3NH i'm white and i'm the best person on the planet. what are you, lowly creature.

  • @K3NH XD and we're very successful, no?

  • @shenmue4life

no, this is how brilliant artists do it. I'm tired of people equating achievements with superficial characteristics.

  • @skulleton Umm, I think he was making an ironic juxtaposition to the macho bragging prevalent in certain music genre cultures. I don't believe that he thinks superficial characteristics have any outcome on the quality of the music, I certainly don't. I found it funny anyway.

  • @GurtTarctor

He was clearly referencing Paradinas' "nerdy" look, and asserting that people like him (nerds, of course) make great music. I see this all the time in video game culture, kids with their puerile need to claim musical heroes, because they usually lack these figures in their culture. Oh, and try to make grammatical/semantical sense when you type something. Otherwise you just sound pretentious.

  • @shenmue4life Tryin catch me white and nerdy

  • @shenmue4life You are a dumb American fat shit cunt.

  • this kind of music is positive for your health

  • @calin06 i know, but is there any proof for it?

  • How does he make these drum noises? I don't get how the snare sounds like that. Is it done with software editing?

  • i've ALWAYS wondered about his drum sounds, too.

  • i think if you mess with the ppitch and cutoff maybe add a real fast delay or something like that u should get something close to this.

  • there are techniques to achieve these sounds but to summerise...

These are common breaks, if you dont recognise them you need to check out your sampleing history ;)

the hits have been chopped up and re-sequenced, re-pitched, processed then automated. The man has had decades to home his skill... which is obvious when heard.

As for the snare... time-stretching - for this youll need a sampler (prefferably hardware) different machines produces different sounds ;)

    Peace,

    *Beat Scientist

  • @HexicNexus Yes

  • Sometimes a style comes along that defies all attempts to categorize it. I've always felt this way about mu-sic. It's like abstract percussive poetry.

  • he is such a genius, truly. i got into IDM with him first and to tell you the truth, his stuff is so much better to write rap(poetry) then any others, except for seefeel and BOC

  • do you hear with your eyes, see with your ears or talk our your arse hehe, love the tune btw

  • this song makes me feel sooo high

  • looks like aphex style

  • do you hear with your eyes? or see with your ears?

  • Not really, he's a peer of afx, but it's his own thing. Aphex used to be on Mu-ziq's label and they've made an album together, though.

  • however it's very good to see this musik with my ears and ear it with my eyes, LSD's running inside me

  • Aphex has never been on Mike's label. It's the other way around.

  • \o/ another classic

  • OMG, I just came...

  • that's not appropriate..

  • ... to this sight to hear this awesome song! Dang, I don't know what you were thinking but you have a nasty mind if you thought that was inappropriate. WOW.

  • it's not appropriate to not finish sentence is what I was saying. Sick mind? I don't know what you are talking about. i just don't think it's cool to not finish a sentence.

  • Wow you hypocrite, way to not finish your own sentence.

  • That wasn't even a sentence.

  • Grammar Nazis always capitalize. BACK OF THE LINE.

  • absolutely supergreatlistening. i just love this song!

  • quality...I love the echoing hoovers

  • Nifty!
