  • WHY IS EVERYBODY YELLING?!

Also, this level is way too hard.

  • @Leishmaniasisably They're hilarious quotes from the game that made no sense to anyone. I thought some day I'd find some intrinsic deep meaning to them when I got older, but they still confuse me.

  • @yotipo91 I know what they are. Twas but a parody. Also I thought commenting on the level showed I knew of it. Guess not.

  • This game and Sonic 3D Blast definitely had the best soundtracks in the whole Genesis library, at least for me

  • I played this for three hours when I was eight one morning, and I was one hit away from beating the boss at the end. My parents called me down to go to church. FFFUUU-

    Oh, the memories...

  • SHOWDOWN

YOU NEED 5 CHAOS EMERALDS TO GET TO THE BOSS ROOM

    ROBOTNIK'S GETTING AWAY!

    GO GET HIM!!!

  • I couldn't beat this level until I was 15, and I've only beaten it once.

  • This was definitely one of those frustrating games you just wanted to beat so bad. Conquering this stage was far more rewarding than most games nowadays. Childhood memories. <3

  • ( i remember when i was 8 and beat this level, I beat it oddly when i had a stomach flu and i woke up at 3 or 4 in the morning and couldn't resist playing it. playing games watching the sunrise is so memorable to this game.

  • "TARGETS RESET"

  • This game was cool, but hard! ;)

  • BUST BLOCKS FIRST!

  • Speaking of which, this was probably one of the hardest games for me to beat, even now. Except for Ecco the Dolphin. THAT GAME WAS ROUGH.

  • I still remember those days..i asked for a sonic game at christmas...i opened the package, all happy, and then...the shock::'what the hell is this fuck...spinball?!'.

It was probably the saltiest day of my childhood LOL...even more because i was anxious to run at hyper-sonic speeds with sonic and all that i could do with him in this game was...die tens of times after failing at lauching sonic at the right spot of the stage.

  • I never could beat this level. :(

  • sega should remix this theme, when fighting shadow or egg dragoon for generations

  • Anyone else get creeped out by this damned game as a Child? It SCARED me. But GODDAMN IT WAS ADDICTING...

  • @InfurnusChaotix especially the first boss with that music...try playing that at night with no lights on (toxic spider with robotnik's creepy smile...shudder)

  • Man, Genesis had a lot of sound tracks that were hard to listen, but it was great!

  • @LD75network well it is possible that the genesis can handle more instruments than SNES

most impressive music is sonic 3d blast

theirs somthing about the genesis that can be about as powerful as the SNES using the super FX chip

  • @killkenny5000 Don't forget about Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The instrumentation sounds pretty similar to Sonic 3D Blast.

  • @LD75network no sonic 3 & knuckles sounds like original sega genesis music or should i say (classic 16-bit music)

  • @LD75network but it does sounds good (better than super mario world)

  • the level i mean ....

  • Hard as fuck

  • omg i try and try and i could never get pass this stage hardest stage ever

  • Holy shit. This is probably some of the best Sonic music I've heard.

  • It sounds like machines falling apart. :O

  • good music!

  • This Stage... HOLY FUCK IT'S HARD AS HELL

  • SMELL MY SOCKS!

  • @ultimaweapon764 Sonic: Nope.avi

  • Eggman's Fortress Final Stage: The Showdown!

This is it! Eggman is here, It's all up to you now to save the day, Sonic!

    GOOD LUCK!

  • I FINALLY BEAT IT!! YES!!! -bounces around like a pinball-

  • The one thing Genesis always will be remembered for is the ability to hook up those bad ass tinny funk beats.

  • I remember this being an absolute nightmare of a level - I think I only managed to beat it twice - hard as hell and needed TONS of perseverance!

  • ......that's im playing at a party!

  • I'm blown away by this song.....

  • I beat the whole game ^^

  • @SuperThunderBolt2 me too,but it took me 2 years

  • @CopySigma im 17 had since i was 3 STILL HAVEN'T BEATEN IT! XD

  • Wasn't this song remixed in sonic chronicles

  • READY TO FRY?!?!?!?

  • @TheAvatarPrince nope.avi

  • @TheAvatarPrince *Panic Warning*

    "TOO BAAAAD!"

  • @tails230 EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK, he heheheheheheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. *Sonic's Epic Sream*

  • I remember beatting the game from start to finish finally, felt like i won the championship lol, shit was so hard

  • @youngcnyce I remember trying to beat this game on fast mode.

  • SMELL MY SOCKS!

  • @ThePsychoLoner Uh, No. >:l

  • Lol i luv this tune, I remixed this part of my Sonic Mega Fusion remix XD

  • F*****G AIR SURFING, DUDE!! >=D

  • No way! This is the best Last level/boss track ever made. Hands down the best. And this wasn't even the last level, though it was for me. This track, The adventures of Batman and Robin, plus the first Mortal Kombat Had the best soundtracks. This song is actually intimidating to this day.

  • Those who are whining over the minimalistic melodies in this track: pay more attention to the synth design, similar to the way you'd listen to a soundscape.

    Renegade466 has the right idea.

  • Now this is a skitchin' beat for toxic evil, if ever I heard one. Coolest song in the game, no joke

  • "Sonic Spin Ball from USA" like who asked?

  • long life to the saturation and ears exploding.

    I love this song

  • i'm curious how this would sound if trent reznor did the cover for this song

  • If Tekken 1 had a sub-boss theme...

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--

  • probably one of the more frightening sonic tracks ever. when i FINALLY beat the machine and made it to this level, i knew right away i was in for some serious shit.

  • not my favorite track for this game but its definately catchy :)

  • Well I liked the song.

  • Nine Inch Nails has NOTHIN on this $hit!!!!!

  • this level is insane, i remember beating it like 4 in the morning when i was a 8 or 9?

  • "Rock it!" 50,000

  • alls this game is, is hoping u hit the ball in the right spot................... but i still love it

  • I think this soundtrack may have started my love of industrial music.

  • READY TO FRY?

  • "ROBOTNIK'S GETTING AWAY!"

    "GO GET HIM!!"

  • The Japanese boxart shows that "Rainbow Sonic" appeared before "Rainbow Mario" from Galaxy. also this music is awesome. Low quality Genesis music, but it's still kick-ass!

  • If your going to make a hard as shit level you expect people to sit on for almost an hour or more, you better sure as hell have some killer music to keep the level from being too annoying so people won't hit the mute button. Thank lord they did. It's like people know this level is gonna kick their ass just by how intense the music starts. Awesome

  • @Adam060756

I think this soundtrack is better than, The Ooze, one of his other Mega Drive soundtracks

Toxic Caves carries the soundtrack :)

  • @Renegade466isback I think the Ooze was a much improved soundtrack over this one myself. The Ooze had drums and guitars in it while Sonic Spinball had strange noises in it.

Toxic Caves is about the best song in this game.

  • @Renegade466isback Nah I got to say his best was Comix Zone. His worse IMO is Sonic CD.

  • @sonikku1011 Oh whoops I always get him and Spencer Nielsen mixed up. :V I dunno what his worse is then. :\

  • @Renegade466isback Hey now, don't be hating on the soundtrack for The Ooze.

    ...I liked that soundtrack :(

  • @Renegade466isback Well, the interesting thing is that all of the games dev'd by SEGA Tech Institute (this, ooze, etc) all shared the same FM sound engine, which was modeled to have instruments like electric guitars, etc. The Japan-developed games didn't use it.

  • @Adam060756 Dude, almost (but NOT all) American stuff is utter shite, HAHA! But when you say "soundtrack" do you mean to say the content of the music OR the sound quality all by itself? I can honestly say that is the ONLY Sonic game that i have hardcorely played. Except not on any console. On PC, hehe.

  • @thefidlerontheroof When it comes to learning about SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis) and lending a good ear to the music that comes with the games, you're going to notice that mostly all the American Genesis soundtracks and sound quality sound really bad and terrible compared to the superior Japanese/European soundtracks. It's almost like the Americans didn't know how to compose and program good quality music in the Mega Drive (Genesis) games.

  • That's just my opinion people, i'm not disrespecting the American community so don't gang up on me. Americans have done alot of great things in this world but composing and programming 16-bit music is definitely not one of them and that goes for Michael Jackson aswell.

  • @Adam060756 No because this soundtrack is awesome.

  • @Adam060756 In what way is the sound quality inferior? I thought this was one of the soundtracks which pushed the Genesis the hardest. I don't think any of the gritty metallic sound of it is unintentional.

Also I don't see the trend in American versus Japanese soundtracks you're talking about. Remember STI (who made Sonic 2) was an American team, too.

  • @SFtheWolf Yeah I know, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles were made in America at the SEGA Technical Institute but with one important difference = the games were made under the influence of Yuji Naka and the Japanese Sonic Team.

    Sonic Spinball however wasn't.

  • @Adam060756 It's debatable how much influence they really had over the projects, though.

  • @Adam060756 idk about u, but this sdtk fuckin rocks

  • @Adam060756 yeah see, i actually agree, there are some really nice parts and toxic caves and title screen and a few other things are good but like, this song and the machine and lava powerhouse they're just so monotonous and have little if any melody or harmony its mainly rhythmic music. like imagine if you tried to do a piano cover of like any of these songs... people would think you just sucked balls. and yeah I'm a BIG HD fan, he is the shit so i don't mean no smack towards him.

  • The beat in this track is so epic - you just cannot bat that drum beat!

I also loving that 16-bit electro-metal rythem in that American Mega Drive/Genesis sound chip (sounds just like Comix Zone) - Alot different in instrument & soundwise compared the the Japanese sound chips in Sonic 1/2 & I think 3&K

  • @HyperShan3 sorry, meant beat not "bat" -_-

  • Somebody has to make a metal remix of this epic theme...

  • @HyperShan3 Workin on it!

  • @FoxGTR34Nismo SWEET! Good luck dude! =D

  • One of my all time favorite "Rock guitar" electronic tracks!

  • When I had this game as a kid, it took me forever just to get to this level. Even today, I still have so much trouble with this level. Kudos to whoever made this level so f***ing challenging!!!

  • When I was a kid, it took me something like a year to muster the skills to get as far as this level. Now I can breeze my way through the game to it, in, what, an hour? Yet this level still gives me problems. To this day, I've only ever finished the game once; it just gets amazingly frustrating after a while. XD

  • When I had the world record on "Sonic Spinball" for Twin Galaxies. It took me almost an hour to get past this stage.

  • @trivia202003

You held the record? Wow O.O

  • @KaosuKaiari

    Yep over 175,000,000.

  • @trivia202003

Grats man! Best I had was something like 102M or something..

  • Many a game ended here. Damn windsock!

  • if i can remember (its kinda vague)

as a kid i was so frustrated with this game to the point that i even threw it away.

i just could not get past the really hard levels. i even cried. how pathetic i was back then x.x

now its all kinda (SORT OF) easy to beat now. XD

  • Epic track! & Epic Zone!: I just love shoting Sonic up in the sky, & then do that awesome Sky Dive! >=D

  • This is the HARDEST classic sonic game that I have EVER played, and I can't Beat this level!

  • @Toasterboy7 Me neither.

  • LEFT ROCK WILL SHOOT!

  • I've beaten most every Sonic game, and I have to say, This is probably the most godforsaken level in the entire series. I only been able to ass myself to beat it once, and I BARELY made it through.

  • @mag1011

Then again, for the ending you get, why WOULD you beat it again? Or play up to it except to get the "rockin'" soundtrack (harhar) that's right here already? Answer: EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE OR ELSE YOU'RE WORTHLESS, MAGGOT!!!11!1 :P

  • alright fat man its you and me*10 mins later*wtf i lose all my balls damn it

  • This music combined with the title screen you see halfway through the video makes me think "this is serious business".

  • they call me fatass because i keep screwing around and leave a crack in the rings fatass robotnik with incredible speeds i'm moving my feet (for a twinkie)

  • I rarely see a soundtrack fit the environment so well. I can just say that with all the things in scenario exploding in the final stage as they do this song couldn't find a better place to be.

  • Time to get serious >:(

  • God, this music was so intimidating. My dad beat the shit out the game when I had it on the Genesis. It was luck if I even got past the 2nd level.

  • Probably the hardest Sonic stage in history. When this music starts to play, it's like a message saying "Welcome to hell!"

    *traumatized shivering*

  • and the dark atmosphere and lava make it think you are in hell, which is what they must have been trying to go for. and damn did it work. best soundtrack 16 bit music ever

  • @Panzarkunst

And the worst is the FIRST TIME you make it to this stage, no doubt having blown through all your lives/continues beating The Machine and previous levels...so then it becomes a challenge just trying to survive long enough to SEE the level!

    "Welcome to hell" indeed...!

  • Can't remember anymore, but having no lives here you just can't survive. To make it worse, the previous levels are fairly easy, in the end. But this stage never becomes easy.

I think one of the very first things anyone does when entering this place the first time is DIE.

  • @Panzarkunst

The previous levels only SEEM easy when compared to the last level...

  • @Panzarkunst I'll never forget the message that says "Ready to fry?" when you fall down the side lanes on the lowest, central flipper (the one you spawn in) of this stage. This is the final thing that kills both your moral and Sonic.

  • @Panzarkunst Is not so hard. Try Eggmanland on Sonic Unleashed XD

  • @MASOFENT

I haven't played the newest Sonic games, but they seem to get lazier and lazier making them, at least making the control system work. One reason why I liked playing as Shadow back in SA2 was how he seemed to be easier to steer than Sonic, maybe because of his different way of moving. This was gone in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes. It gets really frustrating when you jump on a platform but then slide down and die. Bad controls = wrong way to make a game harder, Sonic Team!

  • @Panzarkunst well ur at the mouth of the volcano n it can mean death without the launchers

  • This is probably the hardest sonic related game ever made, other than Dr. Robotnic's mean bean machine. With only 4 stages, it is somehow one of the longest too. probably because it's confusing and you bounce all over the place. I have only beaten it once but I always play it over and over again and I always die at the same place. I think it's the music that draws me to it. It just sounds so bad ass. thanks for uploading

  • I beat this game from start to finish once and only once. Quite hard, but overall, a fun game. I never really liked this level that much, but the music got me in the mood to battle with Robotnik.

  • Robotnik is getting away... GO GET HIM!

  • This was as far as I ever got in the game. Even then that's still something of an accomplishment!

  • this game was so hard but it was a gud solid game tho

  • AWESOME!!

  • Epic.

  • This game is one of my favorites. I wish They would make a new one ( with sonic being on mobius like this one would be even more awesome.)

  • This is a Result from the Satam/Week Day cartoon during the 90s, also the Dirivative from that Sonic prototype game (SatAM characters etc)

  • I like this song. I hate this level!

  • small consolation: getting to nuke robotnik at the end with his own volcano.

  • 2 words: Bad...ass.

  • Ness used PK Rockin!! *This music plays* (it had to be done.)

  • when first heard this song i couldn't play the game to into the tunes

  • My favorite track of this game, barely taking a lead agaisnt the boss theme.

Much w00tness is in these songs.

  • This should've been the boss theme in Sonic Chronicles. As much as I love Sonic CD, it got too much representation in that game.

  • sweetest song on the game!!

  • Sounds fierce.
