Remember the Prelude is 15 years old. The design for the 5th started around 2+ years prior. its a car from the mid 90’s where the 8th Si is 10 years newer. The Lude is a fantastic car to drive, sporty but still very comfy. If you want to compare apples to apples stick a Prelude Type S vs the civic Si...
my wife's 01 prelude with a lsd 5spd conversion and jdm motor and trans is faster than my fa5. i was pulling on a random blue fa5 with ihe (untuned?) in the prelude. so i know my bone stock 07 civic si sedan is slower than her jdm prelude. only downside is the 115 limiter. up to there. its all prelude.
what you got in your civic it sounds good . sounds like mine , the vtec cracks loud ,i have a 07 si, e, h, i,70mm skunk2 mega power, injen intake, and dc race heaader fuck the world ,
hahaha prelude was not racing hard .. or the driver suks or is auto.. no excuses i own a PRELUDE only mod is an intake .. and im dead even with 3 different 07 si both coupe and sedan .. i'll post videos soon .. ya'll see im not talking sh&t ...
I dont know what gear the Si was in, i have raced many Preludes in my 8th gen Si with just an SRI, against the H22 I usually start to pull noticeably on 4th, at the end of 5th i'm usually ahead by about 3 car lengths.
looks like the prelude misshifted. i've raced so many new Si's in my prelude and i've never been pulled that hard. i'm not hatin, i love the new Si's, thats just my .02
@w00t692 No more or less than a STOCK H22. Try putting the same bolt ons to an H22 and watch what happens. That 1/5th of a liter makes a difference when you run with motors this small.
Oh, i know the displacement obviously helps torque. But variable cam timing fucks your world up in making midrange torque and holding it better to the rev limiter.
Oh and after looking up some stock H22 dynos to make sure you were pretty stupid, i was right. Stock h22's dyno 140's for torque and after bolt-ons get similar numbers to what i'm running right now... with more displacement...
s2kdaver, first off si coupes are 4000lbs, prelude is 3000, gears in the si are smaller but the torque pull from a prelude eats that of an si, so the gears dont really matter, preludes are highly under rated because of their weight, you put a good driver in a prelude, guarantee it will take most cars in its class. hands down!
You think the extra 15 ft/lbs of torque makes up the gearing haha. The Prelude weighs in at over 3000lbs whereas the Si is only 2850lbs. Dude I've owned both cars, my Prelude lost to my buddies gsr and then my Si beats it.... K20 puts down more power to wheels also, its a no brainer which is faster.
I have a 95 lude with a h22a and jdm trans, so I have 200hp plus the 4th generation is slightly lighter, and geared slightly shorter. Compared to a SH its about 150lbs lighter, along with the shorter gearing, I am basically even with stock 06+si's. The 6 speed is negated with the h22's torque advantage. Honestly, its a drivers race with the 4th generation, but the 5th gen is ever so slightly slower that the si should win, drivers being equal.
It's not a door to door race if the guy in the Si can drive. K20 is under rated and puts down more than the lude to the wheels, combine that with shorter gearing and a lighter car and its all over. I've owned a '97 SH and now a '09 Si
idk man i've got a 2000 prelude and i've raced 4 Si's from stops and from rolls and believe me, i have not lost yet. it is always a really good race though :)
stock for stock the si civic and the 5th gen ludes are door to door the extra weight of the prelude is compensated for with the higher torque in the h22a4 but yes the k20 is a better motor!
Oh and btw that prelude is not even racing you. Retard. You can see another car right next to him going the same speed as him when the camera looks back.
The prelude is lighter. it's 2884 lbs, not 3000. And the prelude will take the civic either way. The prelude has got a few more horses, and with an intake in it it will demolish the civ :)
And Nopistons87, you're a fucking AMERICAN idiot. The prelude SH would burn this car, even though it has 6 cylinder NOT 4. Stop lying. Preludes are extremely light and have good torque and horsepower. Why would you ever try to race a 2000 car anyway? I guess all the other 2007 models are a little out of your league? Well back off the prelude as well, cause that thing has too much style for you. Bottom line, If you have a civic, all you can expect is = C(car)-I(is)-V(very)-I(into)-C(cock). :).
Hey Seannie310, it seems your a fucking idiot. I said the CIVIC has 6 cylinders, 2007. A prelude can't be 2007 with 6 cylinders, I have a prelude myself. Are you illiterate? Must I purchase for you the Hooked on phonics?
the civic si doesnt have a 6 cylinder.. their 4 so i would research more before u try n clown on someone smart guy...look it up.. its a k20 2.0 4 cylinder dohc vtech.. an the sh preludes are fast but the are lil heavy too an the si isnt even close to out of its league.. the sh probley will have maybe half a car on not even that.. so ya research more bro before u talk..
piotrekzdunek777 dude ur dumb as fuck the si is a 2.0 and so is the lude the lude is slow and heavy and the sh is 210 and it still gets walked on by the si can take on any 2007 model except the cobalt ss tc, ms3 and the caliber srt4 but against other n/a the can hang with the best of them they can even take on the new gti and i know 4 a fact the gti would own ur ass v6 on a lude or a civic buddie ur smoking crack dude read a book or something and i quote my stock turbo sh lol ur soo stock lollol
Preludes are slow? Is that why it has basically the same 1/4 and 60 time? Ill admit, the new Civic Si 06+ will beat a 5th gen Prelude by a little. They both have almost the same power but the Civic is only slightly lighter. Civic Si 06+ is about 2900lbs. Prelude is 3000lbs. But youre comparing 2 cars made both made by Honda with ATLEAST 5 years apart. Of course they would improve.
dude..civics fucking suck. Preludes own. got way more style, and more horsepower... I mean how can you race a 2000 car with a smaller engine against a 2007 with 6 cylinders? its obvious the civic will win, and it barely beat the prelude. YOu said kill? no it didnt. civics suck, and always will. Anyone take my advice, get a prelude. way better. plus my TURBO SH STOCK PRELUDE 2001 would wipe that civic off the street. oh yeah it would.
theeeen lol. after we fucked it sideways up and down the autobahn. he asked me if i had 2.0 also, and i said no, only 1.8 sohc and 121ps. He was like :O i was like, your car is slow as shit cause my shit isnt fast at all. So from that point, i knew golf's "minus the new GTI" are only on SOHC civic level. He couldnt believe my car wasnt the same as the Si. People mistake them cause they are the same color also. But thats how i know it would be able to touch the Si
at the beggining my friend felt like racing so he picked on the fastest cars at the gas station and that ended up being that golf. He wanted to look at my buddy's Si engine and he saw 2.0 and fell asleep on it. So he agreed to a race, I was just supposd to be the follow car, but when they lined up on the autobahn and punched it, i punched it, i did too and i was creeping up on the golf (without drafting)so i said fuck it and passed his ass
i kinda agree with Kali. I have an 06 R18 civic, and my friend has an 06 Si coupe, and we raced a german spec 04' Vr6 gti with exhaust and intake only and i only have a cold air, my friend's Si was stock, and we both walked the golf, the Si just pulled us both by a few truck lenghts and i pulled the golf about 3 car lengths, then he catches up to me when i hit my governor and walked away. This was on the autobahn

The SI is alot faster than Preludes is because of the gearing ratios. 6 speed vs 5 speed. Theres a really big difference.

I have 170 ft/lbs at the wheels in my si with bolt-ons and a tune. No more or less torque than an H22.

and depending on the yr it had maybe 2-3hp more not a big difference when ur car weighs 300lbs more
trust the Si will walk on prelude anytime
