  • My comment said "I like the sweetness of the girl's voice! A lovely song" and ruairiondonohue said "There's no voice in the country with the same sweetness and precision like this young woman". Fair play to you Tulojow for trying to learn Irish, and thanks for posting this vid! mcbarron23, i'm afraid myself and ruairi won't be going easy on the Irish anytime soon. But I'll happily translate :)

  • okay! i love all the irish language...i do. but help me here. my mom and dad were born and raised in ireland...(cavan and waterford, respectively) but i do not understand the laungauge, my dad thought me a few words, but not enough.

so go easy on the irish, would ya? or please do a translation. i LOVE the lauugauge, but i doubt that i am going to get it now.

  • @mcbarron23

Would you go on a Russian band's youtube and demand that all their fans speak in English? We are very proud of our language so of course we're gonna speak it, why should we "go easy on it" just because some people don't speak it? If we did that then the language would have died out by now.

Not meaning to sound horrible, just seems that you wouldn't say that to any other nationality about their home language (at least I hope you wouldn't) so why do it to us?

  • Nil guth dá laghaid sa tír seo leis an binneas agus crinneas cheanna ná atá ag an geirseach sin!

  • Haha; I'm afraid this one I didn't quite get through. As embarrassing as it is, can anyone offer a translation?

  • Is fíor e sin a Rúairí, tá glór na nAingeal aici ! Cad as Tu a Chara ?

  • Taitníonn binneas ghuth an cailín go mór liom. Amhrán álainn ansan!

  • I've just started studying Irish, so I managed to get through this (with a little help from a dictionary). The lead singer, Karan Casey, does have a great voice!

  • Beir búa leis an Gaeilge a chara !

  • Go tapaidh agus go halainn! Go raibh maith acu a chairde.

  • Níl a bhuíochas!

  • I saw Solas at the Wheatland Festival in Michigan a long time ago. I looove this music!
