It's funny. Japan and Hawaii warned Indonesian government officials 40 minutes before the tsunami struck yet they never passed on the message to the community citing that it would cause an unnecessary public unrest. What do you think?

I went to Pangandaren in january of this year, i hadnt even heard about the tsunami until i arrived. The place was on the rebuild but still very damaged along the front. I met some amazing, wonderful people there. It really is a tragedy as Pangandaren used to be an upcoming tourist resort, it will take a long time to recover now though.

I was there during the tsunami, I was sick that day and stayed in the hotel alone. I was woken up by the sea that banged through my window en the walls. I am so lucky to be alive! It took me 6 hours to find my family back but luckely we all survived!

I visited Pangandaran few years ago. I enjoyed the trip immensely. It's sad to see the destruction and all the people who were trying to make a living, lost everything...
