Cool, This is my very first song to learn. Taught by elderly uncle when I was 10 or so. This is the nearest to how he played it however I dont think he used the three chord. It is funny how the interpretations vary. Beautiful in its simplicity thanks for posting. Love this stuff. Do you play home sweet home or bicycle built for two by chance?

@WPMinor Thanks so much ... wonderful to hear about your uncle's version. Yes indeed, I think that mostly the simplest-purest version is the best (or as we say in German: less is more). I didn't know Sweet Home, but I found out that there is a wonderful version of Bicycle Built For Two by John Fahey (he named this song Daisy). Please have a little passion, but I think I will do the song this year).

Lena , beautiful melody , nicely played.

Last night I watched the classic western movie The Wild Bunch with William Holden , one hell of a mean film , but the Mexican -Gospel style influenced soundtrack,( one reminiscent of Ry Cooders earlier Tex -Mex recordings, but a little more traditionaly Mexican)

Anyway this tune you played seems a touch like that style.

Natürlich habe ich mir die Atkins Version vorher auch angehört Michael. Aber mal abgesehen davon, daß ich das nicht kann, stehe ich eigentlich mehr auf die abgespeckten, die archaischen Interpretationen: man kann darin einfach besser träumen ... (find ich).
