  • one of my friends got into the current one of this in the theatre next to the fortune theatre in London. She got young fiona, young shrek and something else i cant remember :D

  • ive seen it in london it was amazing

    <3

  • what is the name of the tenage Fiona?

  • One of my friends place young Fiona, young shrek (occaisionally) and Lord farquods dad! We went on a school trip to see her. It. Was. Amazing.

  • @knowitallAJ How wonderful for your friend, and the fact young Fiona and Kimberley have given you all so much fun and entertainment.

  • I think Amanda was amazing as this role. And she isn't just a 'celeb' she's a theatrical actress and has been to theatre school and everything. Plus I dont think it's right that people say that she can't sing cos she clearly can or she wouldn't of got the role. I think the producers and people that do the auditions know more than you.

  • @JCandyGal Not denying Amanda Holden's talent, because there is no doubt she is very talented, but she didn't actually study musical theatre at a theatre school. She went to Mountview theatre academy but did the tech and production course, she was never actually trained.

  • @BenAnthonyCMcDaid well she still did brilliantly and again, people who gave her the part obviously thought she was good enough and well trained to play that part.

  • I don’t think there’s any need for getting angry here. It’s just an interesting debate, one to which there is no conclusion. With any person playing a part, some will like some will not. I know its great for bringing people to the theatre, but for performers such as myself it’s a thing that some feel very passionately about. Let’s not get too aggressive though, no need.

  • I don't understand why people are hating this, Kimberley is a talented singer and from watching this performance she has potential

  • i actually thoroughly enjoyed this and actually think that kimerbely walsh is a lot better than people give her credit for, we must also bear in mind that this is Shrek The Musical not Les Mis or some other powerful musical, it's just fun and i think she fits well

  • Btw when Amanda did the show tons of people were saying that she doesn't do a good job. Kimberly is so much better. Last year on Britains got talent Amanda was awful. Kimberly is amazing so just enjoy it and stop complaining

  • I personally think that Kimberly is just amazing and perfect for this role!I absolutely love her. Why don't you people just enjoy it and don't always look for what's wrong

  • @Bettty7 i think its just a shame, cause u have these actors who have trained for years and r actually good and then they just given the part to some other person just because they r some judge on X factor or a host on the morning news, i dont even know who she is

  • @MsOctoberstorm This is no consolation to those who have trained professionally for a long time as an actor and singer, but that is life when there are too many aspiring actors/singers for a limited number of positions available.

I'd like to close this debate now, and I will continue to delete any further abusive comments you may make like "fake" etc.

  • @MsOctoberstorm I'll not say Kimberley is top for all those attributes, but she does entertain and helps bring in large audiences.

Myself, I cannot judge who is a "good actor" it is a subjective value judgement that each of us must make. What I can do is tell you whether or not Kimberley and the cast entertain, and they excel at that in spades.

  • @MsOctoberstorm These fans, like me see the show multiple times, spread reputation to others to see the show and this is good business for the Theatre, and good for the fans.

I'd suggest actors are chosen based on good looks, acting ability, singing ability and how popular they are.

  • @MsOctoberstorm I believe the root cause of this problem is the over-supply of actors and singers for the limited number of performing roles in the West End and provinces.

Actors/singers will always be chosen for their ability to bring in audiences and I have been told by the Theatre Royal that Kimberley is attracting far more fans outside than for other performamnces.

  • @jpptubie yer but i would want my money to be well spent and i wouldn't want to see her, because i know she is not west end experinced

  • This is awful. I wish the West End would quit getting celebs into shows and hire properly trained Musical actresses such as Sutton Foster, Sierra Boggess, Gina Beck....it’s just not right on the industry and it’s not the same quality.

  • @rossum1 We all have our opinions on the performance of Kimberley and I have no idea who Sutton Foster, Sierra Boggess or Gina Beck are. All I can say is that I and many others have been enthralled by Kimberley's performance and although I have only booked 4 performances so far, I know others who have gone more times. The attractions of Kimberley are her lovely voice, her facial expressions and her willingness to speak to and be photographed with all fans who meet her before and after every show

  • @jpptubie Sutton Foster is the orignal Broadway's Princess Fiona. She is just amazing; look at broadway's shrek the musical. Sierra Boggess & Gina Beck played Christine Daae in The Phantom of the opera.

  • @SkittlesSarahxx Thank you. I have looked up and listened to some singing by Sutton Foster and she too sounds good. I've not had any singing or musical training or eduction of any kind; I just like what I like. All I know is that I'm seeing Shrek four times because Kimberley is in it; I wouldn't have gone if Sutton had the role. However, I admit there may be others who would see Sutton many times. To me they are both good and we should just go see who entertains us the most.

  • @jpptubie like you said we’re all allowed our opinions. The actresses I mentioned do all of the above that you described but are just better trained at what they do. I was more referring to the people in this industry who are training their socks off but NOT getting into the West End as celebrities are being hired to gain press for shows. It’s a huge unfair issue in the industry at the moment and one that has many different views. However i’m glad you’re enjoying the show and her performance!

  • @jpptubie i think what we r trying 2 say is it is upsetting when u have people who have trained of ages and then they just give the part 2 a celebrity, just because they r famous, there was this show that my friend went 2 c and she was upset because the person playin the main part wasn't really good (and we figured out it was only given 2 them because they were known for being a host on some show).

    It is a shame

  • @rossum1 i agree with u on this, when i bought the 25th year of les mis on DVD and saw that Nick Jonas was in it he ruined it for me and now he's going to be in another musical in West End, it does upset me

  • Sutton Foster is sooo much better than Kimberley Walsh. Sorry - I am a Girls Aloud fan but she can't handle this role.

  • Saw this when it first came out in the west end! was amazing! shrek ran right past me aha! I just uploaded myself singing 'Who I'd Be' please have a listen and let me know what you think! love shrek the musical! I love 'I think I got you beat' think I may record that next singing both parts aha!

  • Another tip to show they're NOT miming; Look at Kim at 1.26 then watch her mouth as it opens more to gain more high note out and notice it sounds different as she opens her mouth more.

  • The voices aren't bad, but I find them way too smiley, especially the older two...

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 this! the youngest girl is very good! xxx

  • We're doing this at school but we have 5 Fionas (little Fiona, young Fiona (me), teen Fiona, onward Fiona and then princess Fiona. It's a bit different because they like to change things around at our school. :)

  • @GlitteryGuineaPig13 Good, and if you get the opportunity to see Shrek at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, please do, it is an amazing show, and Kimberley is lovely. Try and get to meet her going in and/or out, she is good to her fans and will let you have your picture taken with her.

  • Yeah but they recorded this like a week before performing this. Anyway, why is everyone still going on about this? It's history now.

  • Agree with Jonnyriffic. Defo not miming. Kids always give it away. Plus it's different from show.

  • Why does kimberly look weird

  • Yes Amy did say that they werent miming but they always do. When people perform on things like this morning, they are told to say they are singing completely live! So like someone else said.. They will of recorded this track and then mimed to it.

  • @JCandyGal They filmed this on 4 Jan to be aired on 6 Jan. Amy (teen Fiona) has already confirmed to you on twitter that they were singing live when they taped it so I don't know why you keep trying to insist otherwise.

If there is any discrepancy (I certainly don't see it) then it could be due to uploading/youtube itself. Watch the Jim'll Fix It with Kimberley clip on here, the audio doesn't match their talking. Are you going to tell me that they were all "miming"?!?

  • @dopeythedwarf7 Thanks for that. I've noted the voice/lips synch perfectly on my recording, but when videos are uploaded to YouTube, they often go out of synch. Sometime out of synch by a little, and sometimes by a lot like my Kylie video at Jonathan Ross.

  • I have to agree with all the comments, they are clearly miming. They probably recorded it live beforehand and then just mimed to that track...

  • Kimberley should've never got the job.. She's beautiful, yes, but are you honestly telling me she's the best muscial theatre performer to play Fiona? Just because she has a ticket selling name. She's mediocre at the very very best.

  • If they said "recently recorded" it just means they filmed it earlier on or the day before, it doesn't necessarily mean they recorded the vocal. Perhaps they do have click tracks ready just in case (especially in the case of younger cast) but they may have just pre-recorded the clip as the little girl playing youngest Fiona was probably in school.

  • I can't tag people in my comments but before they showed this, the man on this morning said something like "recently recorded". Not many people sing live on this morning. And if you type in shrek the musical,a clip of them comes up from the actual musical and it's a lot more shaky. and watch Amy's mouth! X

  • thanks :)

  • Kimberley is so talented! So happy she is living her musical theatre dream!!

  • Look at 0.42 onwards... Amy's lips aren't in time with the singing. And the mic's are to make it look like they are singing live.

  • @JCandyGal Well considering none of them are singing their actual parts they perform in the show I don't know how on earth they would have had time to record the audio and then film it. I was there on that day and they weren't in there long enough for that to happen. Its definitely NOT miming x

  • @JCandyGal I agree completely with you. They are miming x

  • Watch their mouths carefully. And most people who perform on daybreak and this morning and things like that mime. So...

  • *mime

  • Miming? Why would they mine when they do it every day on stage?

  • They are miming:( so disappointing!

  • @JCandyGal Miming?! I don't really think so :s

  • @JCandyGal they are not miming at all, it's very noticeable.

  • @JCandyGal They are NOT miming, they have been singing this daily for months live in front of a mass audience. You can see the mic on the right side of Kimberley's forehead, as it is in the show.

  • @JCandyGal plus, they do try and hide the mic's so you believe the story more, they hide them in their wigs i hate seeing mic's so prominently. i have seen many shows and they do hide them :)

  • @JCandyGal In Musical Theatre no one ever mimes.

  • @Jonnyriffic No, but on this morning, people tend to.

  • @JCandyGal Alexia Khadime and Dianne Pilkington (Wicked) didn't mime when they were on, neither did Sheridan Smith and the Legally Blonde cast. If anyone in Musical Theatre did a performance miming, they should never be allowed on a Theatre stage again.

  • @Jonnyriffic yeah, but a lot of people also mime. look at their mouths. its obvious, doesnt matter whether they are in musical theatre or not.

  • @JCandyGal Listen: they are NOT miming. No Musical Theatre actors have mimed while doing performances like these on TV Shows, not in Britain anyway. Now shut the fuck up and accept your embarrassment about your lack of knowledge and hearing. Get out.

  • @Jonnyriffic lol getting all defensive aren't you. awww bless. i think they are miming. you think they are singing live. bye.

  • @JCandyGal Sweetie, I don't see why you care. You teach girls how to put make up on their face :' ) - but if you think they're miming, fine - just find me the recording which you think they mimed to :)

  • @Jonnyriffic obviously the recording isn't going to be all over the internet. Just look at their mouths. i dont want an argument, its just the first thing i thought when i watched this. And i still do.

  • @JCandyGal All you're telling me is to look at their mouths - give me a bit more detail there: the shape, the dynamic of the sound produced.

1:55 an example, young Fiona's mouth closes at the same time her voice stops producing sound, and it's normally young kids that give away miming. So we see that she's not.

  • @cherylcole sent me here!!! so proud of kimberely!!
