Socialism equals dictatorship. The entity that the priest refers as the "State" ends up becoming too powerful and leads to oppression. The US was a republic because put balance into government power and authority while respecting the rights of the citizen.

Socialism and Communism both violate God's commandment against stealing by taking property from one person who worked for it and giving it to someone who did not without permission.

I'm not trying to be picky or anything, I just wanted to let you know. Socialism is distinctly yet subtly different from communism, but what you are describing is communism. Just tossing that out there.
